One of the reasons I enjoy your show is your kindness and happiness. Don't let FME bother you! I'm a small senior woman hiker, and women and men underestimate me regularly. I give them the benefit of the doubt that they are concerned about me. I'm so happy hiking that I'm not going to let anyone spoil it for me.
FME... HA! We often run into a variation... The FSME (Fragile Straight Male Ego). Can we have permission to use the Wander Women blast when needed? We love your videos! They bring joy to our lives. TY!!! ❤️❤️
Maybe refer the fme to your RU-vid channel! Deep respect for you ladies. You were cruising even though you dont think so. Im 53 and just did a backcountry hike and can barely move. I havent been able to do overnight hikes in 16 years because of farm/pet duties, so it felt great, but made me really appreciate your through hikes. Day after day, I couldnt do it! And film it! It takes an enormous amount of energy, mental and physical. You gals are amazing.
"I'm not seeing any kind of dedication from you." - Pesky. Kristy I think you missed your calling. You should have been an actress. Your facial expressions and reactions when you first see Pesky are spot on. Ha ha !
FME!!! 🤣🤣🤣. Gotta love em. I had an FME explain to me all about Hammocks - what to get, what quilts to use, etc. And when I asked what he used he said "Well I don't Hammock". Ummmmm.. Love you all!!! Hike on!!!
You all will have No trouble and kick butt, hiking the PCT! Yes, things will always pop up you didn't expect but that's the fun of the journey! You all will meet so many kind people, young and old, that will help you if you are in need, but believe in yourselves! Yes, desert/PCT can be hot when you get low but you will hike back up mountains to cooler weather. Lake Morena got down to 25 degrees in late March. I am sure in all your trail hiking experience you are prepared for all conditions - rain, snow, hail, sun, wind, lighting. You will see it all! Lighting scared me the most around Donahue pass but still alive to tell about it! Go get em Wander Women! Good luck!
So when you heard something my first thought was the Pikes Peak Sasquatch! But it was just Pesky😊 Full packs on that hike, you made great time! I’m sorry you ran into an FME, they are everywhere
I have to ask..... as one youtuber to another... why on earth have you ladies not monetized your channel? I love your channel and monetization would not change my opinion of you at all. You might as well make a bit of money for putting out your great content. It would help you on the trail to fund hotels, hostels etc. I'm looking forward to seeing Pesky ont the PCT. Maybe she will get her triple crown too!
He just speaks of ignorance and jealousy, the Wander Women rock....I am so inspired by all of you and being of the exact same age as Lynn and Annette...so inspired....
I feel ya. I soooo wanna blast the mansplainers who have never even done that kinda thing. I get that a lot with bike mechanics. I 💜 when I can correct them, “Actually, you have it wrong......”
You should sick Pesky on that dude. She'll put him in place. I'm looking forward to following this trek of yours closely. I'm feeling that tug in my heart toward the PCT in 2023 depending on how my 2022 AT hike goes. I get a chance to watch and learn from the pros!!!
OH NO!! Return of Pesky!! ... Pesky _always_ knows where you are! Maybe Pesky is retired KGB or CIA?! ... Anyway, glad to see you three prepping for the CDT! ... And I just caught the end! WWB the MFE!! (I think I got that right.) Sounds like something good for Wander Women Merch! Better do it before Pesky starts her own merch line!
What's funny is the ONLY time I did Pike's Peak was last year in late May and it was snowing. I only made it to Barr Camp. It was supposed to be open but ended up being closed so was freezing. Hung out in their outhouse to warm up a bit, eat a snack, then head back down. Super classy.
Pikes is such a pretty trail, but long...23 miles and 7400 feet gain, thats more than Mt Whitney in California. Amazing you are training for bigger peaks.
You three are SO INSPIRING! I think it would take me much longer to do Barr trail at the beginning of the season, if I'd even make it. Don't let the FME's get you down...clearly compensating for something inside of them that they feel inadequate about. (Although I think a timely word back here and there can't hurt...you can still be kind while assertively speaking up, so I vote say something!) Wishing you all the best on your prep and tackling of the PCT, can't wait to follow along on your adventures!
Dang impressive ladies.! Full packs and that steep a climb...yikes! 😳. Well done 👍. The PCT is going to seem easy after that. Personally, I think Pesky has planted a chip in one of you that enables her to find you anywhere on the planet. 😆. She cracks me up. And your 'chat' at the end about all that 'wonderful ' advice you get from some men was spot on. 🙄 I think the time has come for a more forceful response. Of course, then they will say 'what's your problem?' 🤦🏼♀️. Perhaps turning the table on them and giving unsolicited advice about what they are wearing, or doing, or driving would help them see what it feels like. I don't know, but I wish you luck on all future encounters. 🤞
Best video yet!!! I loved seeing a little FME rage(wells much as you guys can rage, lol!) You guys are fantastic! Looking forward to catching up with you all next year when I retire!
Yay! I can't wait for you to start! Personally, I think the plan is brilliant. I am hoping to try the PCT when I retire in a few years, and postholing through the Sierra and freezing in Washington are my biggest worries. I'm hoping your plan avoids both.
You have to have a permit to hike the PCT. Not every hiker gets to start at the Mexico border. They space them out over the whole trail. That is why they are starting where they are.
You three so inspire me. I’m 58, started backpacking 4 years ago and love, love, love it. I go mostly solo and am looking forward to a section hike and then a long distance in my near future.
You ladies Rock. You have to think how many do not get out and do anything. I I love hiking and and the most I have done is just an overnight hike but you ladies motivate many of us to get out there and try to become stronger. Enjoy life and if others don’t like it as my Dad would say stuff it (being polite) he would have said worse.
@@christinetaggart2715 Don't feel bad (I'm old too) but I had no clue. Tried urban dictionary - not there. Tried Googling FME acronyms and there are 46 different ones but fragile male ego isn't one of them.
My stock answer to people who told me that I would fail at something was, "How much money are you willing to put on it ?" I would have asked the guy if he would bet a dollar a mile for every mile we (the 3 of you) completed. Then asked him if he had almost $8,000 that he wanted to "donate" to your trip. That usually shuts them up if they think they might lose the bet.
I live in the Smokies and since social media has sent about 8-9 million MORE people than the 9-10 who were already here every year, the stupidity is rampant. I've taken to cussing people a lot. Like...a lot, a lot. I'd stick with the WW Buzz. It's gotta be better than teetering on either going to jail or hell. Haha.
Beautiful hike. Laughed out loud when Pesky showed up, haven't seen her for a while. The FME reminded me of the guy at the A.T. hostel that didn't offer you a soda. They are all over. I can't imagine you being rude but sometimes you just have to be. Maybe just telling those people your "credentials" would shut them up. Can't wait for the PCT to start, excited for you. Take care, be safe.
I'm enjoying your training trails. These are places I could easily get to, living in Colorado, and I appreciate all the ideas and info. Also I like the Wander Women blast for the FME. All women should do that when we encounter a mister know it all, no nothing like that. Guy was way worse than Pesky.
Way to stay focused on the goal. Training, commitment, planning and execution will make it happen. Looks like a great training hike. Nice elevation gain in altitude while racking up some decent miles. Proud!!! My response in those situations "I'm confused, what made you think xyz? and how do you think x will help y." But sometimes it's easier to roll your eyes and walk away. I'm pretty good at saying thanks but not interested.
❤️ these women! Wander Women Warriors! LOL typical mansplaining so funny and you gals are too modest to tell them you're soon to be triple crowners, true grit smoothered in charm. Love it. 👏🏻
Groan, darn FME’s. I like your plan, though. EHNH!! Or however you’d spell it. Or hey, remember the Gong Show? And what was the one where they just pulled the bad performer off the stage with a hook? Ahem. You can tell I’m right there with ya. Don’t let ‘em get to you. You’ve already done the other two biggies. Nothing to prove to anyone.
Don’t put up,with these males trying to ‘educate’ you. Tell them to get lost, and don’t keep try to be polite to them. Having a set of dangling gonads does not confer specialist knowledge on hiking or anything else. You are experienced hikers who have a well researched plan for your next trip. It is time these type of superior thinking males are put in their place.
