Good brake fluid can mean the difference between on-point braking and “spongy brakes”. As the brake fluid ages, it absorbs water, or moisture from the atmosphere, and degrades. Heat also causes the brake fluid to become ineffective, and heat is a major byproduct of braking - try touching your brake disc after a ride for a scalding lesson. (JK, don’t do that). The easiest way to keep your braking system in top shape is to replace your brake fluid annually. You can also upgrade your brake fluid for a much more consistent braking performance, for a fraction of a cost as compared to upgrading pads or the master cylinder. In this episode of PD Simplified, Shumi explains how brake fluid can affect your braking performance and what you can do to improve it.

I never went deep into the brake fluid. But I used to change it on every 2 services in my bike. Now I know about the composition that dot5.1 is marginally better than dot4. So I'll try this as my brakes are kinda making awkward noises while light pressing the levers 🤷‍♂️🥲. Thanks shumi for this.

Hey Shumi! Great video keep it up! I just wanted to enquire how you go about servicing your vehicle's. Do you get it done in the bike's respective service centres or do you have a guy you go to or do you do it yourself? Reason for this is I am personally not enjoying the services provided by my Local Honda service centre (I own a 2014 Dio and I ride it heavily including highway runs and daily 30km heavy traffic use). The engine oil provided by them isn't living up to my expectations, I am noticing heating issues and bad throttle response from just 400-500 kms of use. Upon contacting Honda, they rejected my request of getting to choose which engine oil I get to put in my scooter. So I was wondering how to get around such a problem for I do like to get my scooter serviced at Honda every 2000-3000 kms but I don't like the engine oil they put in my scooter. Was wondering if there is any other alternative to get great service and put in engine oil that benifits my motor
@powerdriftofficial
@powerdriftofficial 2 года назад
You can always look for another service center or get it serviced at a local mechanic. Though, you'll have to ensure the mechanic working on your scooter is knowledgeable enough. The authorised service center will have many dedicated tools that a local mechanic may not have access to.

@@powerdriftofficial How do we deal with warranty claims in such cases? If we service our bikes outside with engine oil of our own choice, companies generally use this as excuse to void claims, if any. Suppose if I purchase a new bike & want to start using fully synthetic oil from the start…??

sir simple solution is, service at the service centre use their oil for 30 days buy oil of your choice, go to a local mechanic and change your oil no warranty void you have to shell extra money eventually everything comes for price any company anywhere in the world doesn't care about you be it telsa or apple, all of them wants tons of money and private jets You are the customer you know the problems with your product better than anyone else

So, recently...well, not recently but my fzs v2 has always been ridden in muddy and watery areas every monsoon in the last 3 years or so and now since last 2 weeks, sometimes, not always, when I apply the front brake at slow speeds, it brakes in what seems like a pulsing manner, on and off, on and off, and you can hear it clearly. Only happens noticeably at very slow speeds and it goes away after a while and will happen again some other time. In the last week the pulsing has stopped happening almost entirely but now I hear can the disk rubbing ever so slightly against (probably) pads and making a swish swish sound everytime a certain part of it passes the pads at very slow speeds. When spinning the wheel with hands, the suspected rubbing doesn't seem to hinder the movement of wheel as much. But even if I take the bike up to speed and brake HAARD a few times to clear any debris between the disk and pads, the sound doesn't go away if it doesn't want to. I did check the disk for warps and bends with a straight metal strip but did not find any faults. The brake fluid was changed in last 3-4 weeks, not by me because I couldn't find the time so my father took the bike to a local mechanic. The current fluid is red if that matters lol. And yes this did start happening after the fluid change. Apparently the guy didn't do much except fill up the fluid which was low, could just refilling the fluid be the reason behind this sound? Could there be air in the system? Or mud/dirt somewhere between/near pads?
