PDF4 Deadfall Trigger uses Free Trappers Journal Part 13 

I just bought another 5-pack of pdf-4 trap triggers. I have 15 in total now. They work like a charm if you set them in the right places. A few pdf-4s and a few steel rat traps make for a solid small game trapping setup. A couple of snares and conibears and you'll be ready to catch just about anything.

Nice idea and well thought out Dave Looks like a winner.... As an old vet in my 60’s, Stretching the imagination slightly allows one to put the 4 trap down for perimeter security in shrf, remembering to take them down when you go out camp and resetting them when you enter your safe area so you dont forget and inadvertently set off your own trap.... Your markers would only be visible from INSIDE your safe perimeter Keep up the years and years of good, usable info being placed Heads up Eyes open No fear

Thank you Mr. Canterbury for demonstrating that most traps need some form of trigger and that it just take a thinking mind approach to adjust for lack of equipment. That is a nice piece of gear ( i have 1 and plan to get 2 more) But having planted a stake already, a simple toggle attached to to the spring pole with L7 notch matched to the stake would have been a simpler ( KISS ) system. But thankyou again for demonstrating the versitility of the PDF4 . I would not have thought to use it as a basic more universal trigger!

When that trap is used with a toggle, couldn't the trap be a lot smaller. Like a fourth of the size. You could carry more of them and it might work that small. Not really sure.

Very cool. The figure 4 was the very first trap my grandpa taught me some 45 years ago. I like the improvements.

The figure 4. My all time favorite. Ive caught alot of animals with them. A person could make one with no tools. A couple sticks and a rock edge. All u need.
