For a Governor, who has several communities in his state, including Bonny, facing humongous life-threatening conditions from oil pollution, you had expect that Gov Wike would have made his way to the UN General Assembly, networking with global environmental organizations and drawing the attention of world leaders to grant about $6billion to supplement the clean-up of Ogoni land and other oil polluted communities in his state. Considering that the EU and Asian regional blocs are weighing on Nigeria to meet up their oil and gas shortfalls occasioned by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the leaders of the EU and Asian bloc would have been well disposed to assist Rivers State in the cleanup. Imagine what $6billion dollars would have brought to the economy of Rivers State and neighbors whose agro economy has been eroded by oil pollution. Wike would have become an environmental hero not just in Nigeria but globally. But Wike is at home crying over spilt milk on his vain glorious presidential quest rather than over the Ogoni spill. Has anyone ever seen Wike fighting for the people of Ogoni and other communities in his Rivers State, including Bonny, whose lands have been overrun by oil pollution? All Wike is doing daily is fighting for his selfish political relevance, while pretending he is doing so for the South. Wike evaded the first question. He is one of the southern politicians who, out of his ambition to run for president, pushed for zoning to be ignored. He knew that if there was zoning, the position of the president would be zoned to the south, and invariably to the SE, being the only state in the south which hasn't had a president from the SE. Atiku himself bulldozed his way to be his party's presidential candidate while ignoring his party's constitution. Shame on southern PDP governors for allowing this.
