Assuming that you can get just as many blackberries each day as salmonberries, that would be over 63k gold each day, or more than the value of 20 bottles of Starfruit wine with the Artisan profession.

Find a salmonberry, pick it up. And all day long you'll immediately forget you even did that, without even once questioning your compulsive behavior. Am I playing the game or is the game playing me? Is there any reason I feel so compelled to pick up every little pixel-worth of fictional money instead of trying to make more real money ? Why not at least get a gig job, or is that just another money loser, a labor trap for the already desperate? Is prosperity even a possibility in today's economy? Am I fixated on prosperity over stability? Or is "stability" a worthless concept, is collecting thousands of fictional berries that aren't even profitable in their own fictional world the "stability" I'm after, since they're a predictable waste of time, and why does that feel safer than more lucrative endeavors that might actually provide some real benefit to me despite uncertainty? Do I fear poverty, or the unknown? What is the American dream anyway - the promise of prosperity, or of security? What is it to be truly rich anyway? Salmonberries. They make ya think. No wonder so few people like them.

@@andrewklang809 are ya kinda overthinking it a bit maybe? lol I grew up in a transition period where some believed in throw it away you can get new and others used each item to the last drop/shred because it was a waste of time/money to buy new. Now that I'm the elderly one I kinda believe both were right. On the other hand I also have finally learned that we each only have just so much time and once we spend that time it is gone. Means I'm more careful about my job choices and what I choose to waste my time on too. I "sell" hours of my life to "employers" so those hours had better be fulfilling and worth time/effort on my part. Maybe I too am overthinking.

Yes! I use salmonberries and unmilled rice to cheap out on wine, jelly, pickles and juice as gifts, for quests/community centre, tailoring etc. I also romanced shane entirely using 2 salmonberries a week and a birthday pizza lol. The people I friended the quickest are ones who like salmonberries cuz I keep em on my hotbar for food and divy them out whenever I walk past someone. Never underestimate keeping a stack of cheap commonly liked gifts on you at all times! All these people doing perfection and struggling with friendship whereas I got full hearts with every pelican town resident by the end of the first summer lol. I highly reccomend salmonberries, daffodils or quartz.

They really are a great source. Even if you can't do some of these things, getting your foraging up to four for an extra berry per bush (either through leveling or with some food) can make a huge swing for your energy needs!

Same, I just keep a stack of hundreds of iridium salmonberries in my inventory at all times to eat whenever my health or energy get a bit low

They're a good option in single player especially since you can have a giant stack. In multiplayer I prefer foods that recovery more per item since time doesn't stop while you're munching.

That sounds about right, numbers wise. That would put you at about 1345 berries if you had level 12 foraging. Seems like you're already prepared! 😁

By year two I have matured enough to instead learn to gnaw on dozens of plates of raw fish as I go.

It's not something I would want to do every day on a file, but as a change of pace for a cool 50 grand I'll take it. Even better if you do blackberries in fall and go for like 200k. You could deep dive Skull Cavern and sell iridium bars and make waaaaay more, but sometimes it's nice to switch things up!

Can't mine without energy & health, and salmonberries & blackberries are terrific easy food sources early in the game.

As long as you're not playing multi-player!

They can be good. They're quite tart but that can make them appealing as garnish. They also make an alright jam, but they're very seedy, a very seedy raspberry.

Same strat works for blackberries if you're close to level 8 by then.
