@@zakikin6006 not really bc the fans are hypocritical as fuck. The contestants are choosing to go on Rus show, Rus goal is to create a interesting show that people watch. Fans mistreating girls is just blatantly wrong and inhuman.
They constantly brought up Pearl being “high” or “stoned” cause they knew her back story of getting drugged and used and were hoping she’d spill it out for the show. I’m so glad she didn’t and got to tell it herself on her youtube channel
Ru is on her way of being trashed for being the other Tyra Banks and Drag Race is just another NATM toxic type of reality show that just capitalizes on people's pain.
I loved Pearl SO MUCH for not revealing anything about her personal life on the show. I had a vague idea what the subjects were before she even said because when you’ve been through it yourself you can recognize it. I was raging at rupaul the entire season. Pearl is just fantastic.
Agreed. Reality shows love painful contestant backstories to exploit. Ru was definitely trying to stare Pearl down hoping for some emotional reaction. I've always felt those dressing room "vulnerable" moments are somewhat coaxed out of the girls by production. Ru stole a few pages from Tyra Banks' playbook that's all I'll say.
The interesting thing about drag race fans is that none of them forget. They can push out 12 seasons in 3 weeks and people will still wonder when a queen from seasons ago will come back. The production at this point would honesty pay an arm and a leg to have Willam back so I’m sure they’ll break one day
I mean Willam is Willam. At the end of the day Willam said that she would like to return on AS, because it would be such a gag. But at this point with how strict production is; it becomes less of what we want out of the show. If they are smart enough; they would let queens like Willam and Pearl come on, because that would most definitely give more traction to the show.
Drag Race literally has the power to break the internet if they invited Willam, Pearl, Courtney Act and Max all on the same AS season. They choose not to and it's a gag every time
I think it really is unfortunate that things happened the way they did. Pearl really made me question that face the Ru shows to the public vs when you work with her. I mean this industry is difficult to be in as it is. You would think an icon like Ru Paul would have some sense but I guess no one is immune to letting fame inflate their ego.
As someone who actually works in the film/TV industry and had the opportunity to see Hollywood level celebrities, let me tell you that. There is so much shit happening behind the scenes and so much covering up, more than half of those people would see their careers fall into shreds if their real characters came out. Funny enough on one of those sets I met someone who knew RuPaul and he told me Ru Paul "is not the same person he was twenty years ago".
no celeb is who they are infront of the camera. i work in the media and i have seen and heard shit that will make people be disappointed by their favorite celeb. but i think it depends on the severity of it. ru knows that this will not last long and people may get bored with drag due to saturation in the media....now there's so many country variations that i know ru knows the moment is closer than before, so he's exploiting it for whatever cash he can grab. but there's no need to be an asshole to do it too. he's out of touch with reality. look at that now infamous emmy interview where someone asked about POC in his team and he turned around, and all white guys lol. he is too occupied with making banks that everyone else is just tools for him to get them coins. diversity? kindness? he doesnt care.
Pearl is fricking cool in person. I met her once backstage at Berlin Nightclub when I was helping out one of my drag friends to put on her gloves. Pearl approached me in the dressing room and was like "Hey 😊 what's your name?" She was so down to earth. And this was after she was already famous. I was starstruck af. Of course, I fangirled real hard.
The best thing about the whole Pearl/Ru thing is it gave us that amazing, Pearl reacting to Ru and Michelle Podcast video while putting on her makeup, which is honestly one of my favorite things to come out of Drag Race.
Pearl is incredible. Even if she never sees herself on an all stars, that doesn't mean that she isn't phenomenally talented. Those makeup skills and that garmnet is the video?!? Chef's kiss! You've already created your own, hall of fame, and it's pretty epic. You are a big inspo when it comes to my own makeup.
When I saw Pearl on the show, I thought she was boring and overrated. I realize now that what I saw was a caricature specifically created to entertain the audience, while the real person off camera was far more multifaceted and interesting than that. I'm really glad to see Pearl has been doing amazing for herself.
how authoritarian does drag race have to be that one queen standing to rupaul is enough to get them blacklisted. pearl is already an allstar and she doesnt have to be on another season of reality tv to prove that.
@@sarahjane542 idk i disagree. pearl has never been overtly disrespectful to rupaul and only speaks about the situation for what it is. she never has trashed the show and only speaks with respect for what ru has done for her and every other queen on the show. it creates a situation where if one queen doesnt bend and break themselves into wow's ideal mold they have less of a chance of getting ahead as their peers, and pearl is for sure not the only queen that has recieved that treatment. in fact she has had a better chance of getting ahead with her blacklisting than most. how many other queens with "so much potential" do you just not hear from nowadays because they didn't do exactly what wow wanted them to do? i dont see that as very fair.
Rupaul should host a Pay-Per-View boxing match between all of the rivalries that have been on the show. The main event would be pearl vs rupaul at the end. I’m sure Ms. Charles would make quite a pretty penny lol
Joseph, ever since you told us you had ASD I've been looking up to you even more. Being autistic myself and loving my journalism job, I hear sooo often that autistic people "can't" interview people correctly (it's fucked up). But seeing you do it, and from what I can tell having fun with it, is so encouraging. Keep it up!!
people claim we can't do ANYTHING correctly. it's like they think we're all slow (theres absolutely nothing wrong with being slow btw, i have a learning disability so i am slow). when in actuality, people with autism can excel MORE than neurotypical people in some cases.
“How she handled everything”? She has literally spent the last several years making hateful videos. I don’t think she is OK, else she would have moved on.
Wow, really??? I didn’t think that was a big moment at all. I always had the feeling that Pearl was really wondering why Ru was staring at her like that. Just kind of a deer in the headlights, ditzy moment, and she truly wanted to know… I didn’t read it as disrespectful. Wow. Mama Ru is vicious.
How can someone react so dramatically to a harmless phrase ’do I have something on my face?’ ! Why couldn’t Ru just laugh it off or volley something back (which he is obsessed with saying about snatch game). Drag queens are shady and quick and funny, Ru showed none of that in this exchange. Just acted like a big brat. He needed to get over himself, like when he says ‘make me laugh’ or don’t take anything serious, be irreverent etc. total hypocrite. I think this moment and what he and Michelle said on their podcast (which was appalling childish and vindictive) showed his true colours, an egomaniac with a thin skin. Willam has been right in what he’s called them out for. , yes Ru doesn’t owe anyone anything but don’t be two faced and try and ruin queen’s careers because you don’t like them, so petty!
That podcast really showed it very clearly to me, like one minute Ru and Michelle were still furious about this exchange because it didn't go the way Ru wanted and the next they were still trying to paint her as this loving, open person. It didn't really work.
Ru’s behavior reminded me of how when some times people act when they get turned down. They don’t like rejection so they will act mean or block the person. Pearl is stunning in and out of drag and has a chill, cool personality. Pearl def deservers to be seen again, I agree with every thing you said.
I think too many people seem to think Rupaul is a saint. He's just a man, a man with a particularly large ego, who gets fairly petty when that ego gets bruised. He always has been, even when he was hustling fiddy cent for a slice on the way to The Pyramid back in the day, before he traded football shoulder pads for Mackie gowns.
but also I wanna say - Rupaul IS a man who did SO much for us LGBT+ community. does it mean he is a saint and should not be criticised for fuckups? NO! he is a flawed person as 99.999% ppl are. is it so hard tho for many of us to not be 100% black and white about stuff/ppl tho? I used to idolise Ru, not so much anymore in every aspect but do I admire him 1000% for some stuff? absolutely. one thing doesn't exclude the other.
Yeah! It’s the ego thing. He really thinks that he’s superior than other drag queens. He’s great! But, other drag queens are funnier and prettier, per example, Pearl is a really great performer and drop dead gorgeous. He’s just smart and was brave, in her younger years at least, an icon for standing against the world. But he needs a lesson on humility, and remembering where he came from, and he is definitely not superior than the other girls.
Let’s be real - in order for Pearl or any mistreated or misrepresented queen to come back to All Stars or have a “rudemption” AND be treated relatively fairly, production and yes, even Ru, need to step up to level of accountability first. So.. here’s hoping?
Putting Pearl on an All Stars season would be one of the smartest things Rupaul could do at this point. The massive amount of views just tuning in to see Pearl would put other seasons to shame.
I love Pearl. Did y'all go look at her custom bus tour? (On her RU-vid channel.) They made an RV out of a shuttle bus. My fave details are the color combos: so many gorg colors & textures in that build.😍
i just love her. she was my favorite on her season and the transition she’s made since then to her current day situation is really inspiring for somebody that’s been through some of the traumas that she has. i always knew she was smart, genuine, and supremely talented, and the response from ru and michelle was the first time i realized just how manufactured everything is. do i like the show now still? of course i do… but it’s different now knowing what they truly look for and what their motivations are. pearl is a gem (pun intended or not, you decide) and she will always have a special place in my heart. i wish her nothing but the best in her life and her art.
I love Pearl. She is so amazing and so down to earth. I follow her on her RU-vid channel and she always has something fun or inspiring going on. One of my favorite queens !!
They should have told the queens before taping no one is allowed to talk to RuPaul due to others feeling Ru might be playing favoritism.. thats the Producers Job
To be more specific: They should have told them to not talk to Ru if the camera’s not rolling. I don’t think it’s so much they’re worried about the perception of favoritism, but Ru doesn’t want to miss anything that happened off-stage. They’re filming a TV show so she wants every piece of content possible for them to build episodes with.
Huge fan of Pearl, especially post the show where she was given the freedom to grow and do what she wants. She is GORGEOUS and her Roxanne character is still one of the most hilarious things on the Internet. Plus she's really a lot smarter than I think a lot of people gave her credit for. You go girl!
Yes! I’ve been saying this about the last 2-3. Not that it isn’t any good but long are the days when I would get excited for drag race because we literlaly have it 365 days a year now lol. That amount of anything gets old after a while
I never understood the tension in the WERKroom situation 🤷🏽♂️ Ru was just waiting for Pearl to pickup the conversation and Pearl was apparently emotionally drained at that point and got snippy and the rest is history
because people love to cry rivers Ru just wanted the best for Pearl and grow up as an entertainer not as a brat child that always get some attention just for talk about RuPaul and drop some tea
@@gaddielalejandro4953 she has every right to do so and ru has every right to get mad, but to go as far as to BLACKLIST a queen because of it is very childish and immature.
It seemed like she didn’t want to be there, but now that we know why, rewatching the season, I am absolutely furious for her. And Max, too. Season 7 had the most talented cast ever and they treated them like garbage.
Pearl, if you're reading this ... know that you are a brilliant artist, an enlightened visionary, an ethereal Goddess and God, and an absolute drag legend. #kbye
I will never understand how Ru forgave Lucian Piane's (for a short time) rant against her on his first mental breakdown but can't forget Pearl about a single and stare and quote.
Ever since I heard this story I can not take rupaul seriously on the show. Every time she cries or give a speech on the main stage I’m just like 🙄😒 yeah sure
I can’t stand how disrespectful they were toward her. Calling her a stoner and low energy. Like what the fuck. I’m low energy and blah as fuck most days. Not every drag queen/human being bounces off the walls and is talkative and annoying all the time. There ARE introverted drag queens. Not to mention people who come from trauma deal with depression and anxiety. There are literal chemical imbalances and reasons why they are low energy. It’s so offensive. Drag race culture is so toxic sometimes and rupaul is smarter than this. I hate to say this and come off assumption but Rupaul gives off very never-struggled-with-depression vibes. Like you can tell he is the type of person who doesn’t understand it since he’s never had to deal with it. The privilege.
Some people just need to have the self-awareness that a reality show is just not the place for them. And I think that Pearl shouldn't have gone on the show. I just hope that people understand that although drag race is awesome it is not validation for any of these queens. Brita and Tina Burner and so many other NYC queens are so successful. Complete show stoppers. I saw a Brita show and it was the best performance I've ever seen. And they get on the show and the producers have other storylines they want to push and they just fall by the wayside. I hope some of these queens that are successful in their own right realize that they don't need to do this show. It's great entertainment but you can be just as successful outside the show. And you won't have to go in debt buying outfits.
It's actually insane that they blacklist queens like Pearl or Willam from coming back, especially when them being on an All Stars would get SO many people intrigued and watching that season.
I want Vivaldi in there for getting soft-locked from the top 2 in Holland s2. She didn’t get ejected from the competition but there was no possible way she’d win after being found having her phone during the competition lol
@@EspeonTheMagician She spilled on Twitter a couple years back - she deliberately broke rules and tired to get off in protest at a lot of the shit producers were pulling (and so she could fly out for a Jersey Shore musical she was already booked in)
Why on earth would they want to be subjected to a redemption? It means ru was right and they're fighting for his forgiveness, approval and acceptance. For some queens, no money will allow them to reduce themselves that low
Am I mistaken or is this not an old interview. I was of the understanding that Pearl has moved far beyond this experience and is following a completely new journey that in no way would include returning to Drag Race.
tbh i've never really liked Rupaul that much, and this just sort of solidifies that for me, like yes im sure she's very talented and she always look amazing but she doesn't seem like a real person at all, even out of drag you rarely see anything beyond the "Rupaul for the cameras", also i just adore Pearl so much :)
Pearl that contract that started on season 8 would have ruined your life. You got in and out, along with the rest of the free ones before season 8..feel lucky.
Pearl Truly isa Superstar. I met her in Houston twice and she is so down to earth and the hate she received for been honest about her experience was totally stupid. I love her ♥️
Rupaul was someone I admired growing up. I remember seeing her on tv and thought " wow I can't wait to tell people im gay" but lets be real, rupaul is whitewashed to the MAX!
IMHO, If somehow Pearl did get back on All-Stars, EVERYTHING will be staged against her. Considering how rightfully they edited out Sherry Pie as much as they could when she was DQed. The production and Ru will definitely set it up that Pearl would not have a fair chance. Pearl is better off.
I feel for Pearl. There are many ppl out there that preach things to audience that they cannot manifest in their own lives or relationships. Ppl are often preaching to themselves. Its a means of coping and overcoming. It doesn’t mean rupaul is wrong or bad. It just means she is human.
Really hope ru sees this and self reflects some. She’s let her ego devolve her emotionally. Business is fine, but there is and should be a balance between sincerity and compassion and professionalism. It would have taken her nothing to go about it in a nicer way, had remembered that pearl is basically a young fan and a reflection of yourself at a different time. And then maybe mentioned that this would look great on camera let’s reshoot. Idk something with more grace and care.
This is what pisses me off about Drag Race.. first off RuPaul doesn't give a shit about any of these "Ru Gurls" I just wish they would come together and go up against him. The Producers need to be stoped also.. Trust me I preformed with Ru way back in the game, hes the only person he cares about. Truth should be said, and those cameras should never be turned off. Show us the mess EVERYONE really is...
He is not their mom or their dad, to give them validation in unconditional manner. It aint happenin nowhere. Pearl leads this successful life because of RPDR, even she addresses this. You should have the least amount of storyline happening behind the camera, because it may become very hard to edit because the references might connect the events that happened while cameras were turned off. This includes not just the information exchanged, but also relationship development. also, saying Ru doesn't care about these girls? He is the face of the platform that transformed unknown queens into superstars leading the change. If his sign of maltreatment is telling one girl that she should be talking to him only when the cameras are on, I'm perfectly okay with that. I am thankful to Ru for everything he has done.
I mean if you talk back that way to your employer or boss you get canned. Pay attention kids cause the real world doesn’t care who tf you think you are in those situations. If youre problematic you get cut.
Pearl was always and still is one of my favourite Drag Queens to come out of the franchise. It’s disappointing knowing the relationship she has with it all now, I hope we get to see her again on an All Stars season I genuinely do.
I fell in love with Pearl the minute she opened her mouth. She's a wonderful sweet humble kind young man. I thought it was brilliant when she said to Rupaul about having something on her face!! I've read and watched alot about RuPaul... He's a freaking Hitler when it comes to Drag race.!!🏎🎪 And you can just see it on his face and his eyes. He's got such a huge superiority complex! I don't think RuPaul is any better than any other drag queen. She's just older and has done it longer!! There are so many GORGEOUS DRAG QUEENS that are SO MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL than Rue.. she's not as special anymore! She's not the ONLY ONE OF HIS KIND anymore and I don't think he's loving it as much as she claims. You go girl Pearl!
Instead of listening to Pearl and letting her grow on her own terms they used a past perception against her. When she spoke up about it, they used that against her too. And when she had the audacity to speak up against Ru and how fake he can be, they used that against her as well. Drag isn't family for sure. Especially not when it comes to Drag Race.
I will always love this queen, she’s my favorite and amazing, that doesnt mean i hate RPDR or RuPaul, i can separate things, and i hope she can come back to all stars, as a fan that i’m of her drag vision.
Pearl's make up skills are phenomenal. She may have been lack lustre in her lip syncs, but I have not seen her perform outside of drag race. But as she says she wasn't herself on drag race. I watch Drag Race for the Queens not for Ru, I don't know if Ru is genuine or not. Sure the Queens can be edited in certain ways but they still say what they say and act the way they do. It's a tough one but I still respect Pearl as an artist. I respect Ru for her career and what she has done in providing a platform for drag.
It's a TV show, so of course nothing matters unless the camera is rolling. Don't understand the drama. Ru is educating his children and preparing them for the world outside and the media world. She should know as she's been in there for some time.
The REAL eye opener about Ru Paul was the audio clip of a Ru and Michelle conversation that Pearl posted on RU-vid. Ru Paul came off as very scary. It changed my entire opinion of her.
So down to earth. You can def tell she’s an earth sign. I love her. Would love to see her on the show but I enjoy watching her be a glam white witch of the forest on her ig just the same 🌳🧚🏻💫🍃
It’s interesting how drag queens know how ru is like in real life, like even trixie and katya hinted that she’s a monster, in their reaction to aj & the queens they kept saying what will the “real ru” would do
It is soooo obvious that Ru Paul was BEYOND jealous of such a fresh, VERY young, VERY talented, VERY attractive white guy, that was adored by everyone on set. Ru Paul must have felt very threatened, as a bitter old black guy desperately trying to hang onto his fading looks. While Ru Paul may hate his life and be used to treating everyone around him like trash, he was not prepared for Pearl... Pearl has been used and abused for years by the most evil monsters around and Ru Paul's toxic temper tantrum was nothing new for Pearl! Cheers to Pearl for standing up for herself, and calling out the obnoxious bully 'show producer' for being a miserable, self important twat!
@@debravan1167lmao Ah, someone’s insecurities are showing! You clearly don’t know the first thing about racism if you think OP was racist. Saying Pearly is more attractive than Ru isn’t even almost racist, you absolute clown. People like you actually think that unless you’re praising a black person at all times, you’re “rAcIsT” 🙄
Ru doesn't own drag. Pearl is awesome. People say this and that about how they would act in certain situations but actually have no clue how they would act when backed into a corner. Pearl is young and has her whole career in front of her and I hope she gets the credit she deserves now and not later in life when people finally realize how talented she is.
Rupaul is calculating and manipulative, and not necessarily a warm personality. He created a brand for himself, and lost his humanity in the process. He feels he knows the magical recipe for being succesful and professional, acting like this all-knowing god, and expects every contestant on the show to see him as a god. It's very obvious throughout the years how fake everything has become, from his interactions in the workroom, to his fake emotions and sensitive moments 'we are all one family' trying to emulate a normal person's reactions, to the tired recycled quotes and Cher moments. He couldn't care less for any of these queens. Of course, contestants should be aware of what they sign up for, but there still should be a minimum of respect in the process of making this show. And Rupaul would better follow his own repetitive advice to the contestants of 'showing more vulnerability', it would do the show good.
