In my opinion it's the best drum pedal! It's so smooth,so fast, you gonna love it! And if you like to do the "heel toe" this pedal is the best for this technic!
I bought a DD double pedal about 6 months ago... Price tag of 699CD was a little more than the Axis pedals.. but being that its made by pearl.. I figured the extra 60 bucks was worth it... and BOY WAS I RIGHT.. These pedals are INSANELY responsive.. I play alot of heel-toe at 200+bpm.. Ive never played a pedal that could stick to my feet through long rolls.. untill the DD! It has the pro price tag.. But if your looking for PRO gear.. its well worth the money! Another great PEARL innovation!
Great demonstration video! I bought mine a couple years ago and I am very happy with them! I tried them out along with Trick and Axis pedals, and the Demon Drives kicked their ass. No doubt the best pedal to date!
i own a DW 5002 pedal and i love it. i tried the demon drive out at my local music store and i must say, its very very smooth and can be controlled very well. but IMO its a bit on the light side, i like a little bit of weight in the pedals so i can get some more power from the stroke, other than that they are good pedals and i would recommend them to anyone (who has a deep pocket).
i'm really happy with my speed cobra older model. but everytime i see this guy i want to buy a demon drive! the few times i tried at guitar center i didn't see or feel anything extraordinary but it does have a million different adjustments so prob would need ample time to mess around and dial it in
borrowed a pair of these on a gig today, best pedal ever! it was smoother for me than axis and speed cobra and its not over expensive! gonna get these, no doubt!
THESE PEDALS FOR SURE. I had axis pedals and they broke after 3 month's. I've played these pedals and it's like heaven. Trust me you will NOT regret buying these.
I want this pedal so much.... I went onto pearl's website really quick yesterday and this baby was just staring me right in the face. It is so totally worth the 360 dollars. funny thing is it is cheaper than the trick pedal but seems to have infinately more features.
@deathdrummerwild It depends what feel you want. Speed Cobra is a chain drive, so if you're used to a chain drive feel but want the lighter feel and leverage of a longboard pedal, you want the Speed Cobra. Direct drive is a different feel entirely, but you might like it. After playing both, I personally prefer the Demons, and my pedals are Iron Cobras.
I'm planning on replacing my 12 year old axis A longboards with either this or trick pedals, idk which one yet though still on the fence but this video is making me lean towards the demon drives.
Marketing is supposed to be boastful, hence the endless superlatives, 'only in the world!' etc. That said... this really is some damned good engineering. That is a WILD range of adjustment for feel and response. And in order for all of that to work right... you've gotta have very tight tolerances in manufacturing. Hence the fancy bearings etc. I think a design this complex, if you cheaped out and allowed to much wiggle and play, the whole thing would fall apart. Binding up, jamming etc. So to implement this design, all those details he was showing off have to be just so. Of course he would say 'it's the best pedal in the world!'... but it is fair to say it's a legit contender. Short/long, heavy/light, power/finesse etc, etc. You can make it an outstanding version of whatever your preference is, or change config for different styles. He didn't even get into how, if you have true double bass, you can break the link, move a few parts and have 2 stand alone pedals for left and right. Built into the design to work as a double or 2 singles. There is no absolute, singular 'best' anything... but this is impressive hardware extremely well thought out. When I first head about these, I thought maybe it was gimmicky, or prone to problems due to complexity. Reviews say otherwise, one of the more loved pedals out there. I don't know the names of the engineers that designed this thing... but damn... they did some freakishly good work here.
i love the feel or tricks also buh the thing i find with DDs is that it feels heavier then both trick and axis. the DDs almost imitate the feel or a regular pedal while still having components of what axis and trick has. it really is preference cuz when you get axis or trick pedals it would take you sometime to get used to them because the feel is COMPLETELY different. buh i think once you get used to your pedal youll be in double bass drumming heaven :)
@doctorrockter Im not sure how you reached that conclusion. I own both and I find the Pearl is really just good for training and workout, the axis has a bit of an edge over it...
i use Axis and i personally feel that Axis is better then thse pedals. and people who say axis suck, you guys never took the time to actually get used to them. when i first got them i hated Axis pedals, buh it took about a good 3 months buh afterwards i realised i LOVED them. No other pedal for me. Using Axis pedals is like an aquired taste. like beer and wine.
@MrSlimshady2014 the problems Ive heard from many people with the axis pedals is they tend to rattle appart at the seams (so to speak) I keep hearing horror stories about little parts and screws breaking and or falling out while playing and after speaking with my local music store guru he mentioned that nearly every axis pedal he has ever sold.. has come back for SOME kind of minor repairs.. Axis (IMO) still has some growing pains before they catch up to pearl when it comes to durability!
Wow, atleast now other companys are going to have to up the quality of there double pedals, i hope this will be the new standard in future double pedals
that thing that spun is a skateboard wheel. its not the beater. The skateboard wheel (which is white) has ninja bearing installed in them. the ninja bearing are the same bearings used for the axel of the pedal.. not the beater.
I got these yesterday but I cant play well with them because they differ so much from the Iron Cobras I used to have. They have less power but I guess they are much faster in the end.
I went through this debate with myself for weeks. I kinda decided Pearl though. The demon drive is used more in general, it's more durable, and Pearl make overall good products. Also, the demon drive is more customisable when it comes to ease of use. With axis you either have very very very horribly customisable (Which some people may like) or barely not customisable at all. Thats why the Demon Drive is better, the amount of adjustability is perfect. (Please excuse any typos)
@sandrail69 The Guitar center close to me has three on the floor... and the one in Boston literally has about 8 of them scattered among all the different drumsets. I bet they sell alot of them.
It's Virgil Donati (not sure how you haven't heard of him really...he is insane). And the other is Marco Minneman...both are beasts and insane. I'm not saying JoJo isn't the shit...but I just don't see him being at the same level in terms of independence as these two but his chops are easily up there...cept on double since he doesn't play double.
I'm not talking hand chops we're talking feet here...and rudiments are rudiments, tools not music. I'm not talking Lamb of God type drummers dude, I'm talking tech death drummers that are actually playing something complex and musical. And I didn't say chops = music...but we were talking chops...I listen to stuff like Planet X, which is very musical and very original. It's just irritating that people who don't listen to other types of music (metal, prog metal) are bashing on it.
I would think that having the grip would allow your foot to stay on the pedal...cuz I would think Axis and Trick would be a little slippery...Other than that...no I don't think it would slow you down... you can always take the grip off Im sure...
