This is a No Nonsense channel. I really can't see anyone saying anything too me about my reviews. I am very honest about the guitars I receive. As long as I do that, Companies really can't say anything to me. As we saw with Leo Jaymz .... It was an Honest review. I gave them the opportunity to send another instrument for review. I gave them very opportunity to comment and make any statement they wanted to make about the guitar. I feel I do everything I can to show you the viewer the product and work with any company that comments. Ya ... I just messed up the editing on this video. and had to fix it. Again ... I've got one of these. I picked mine up at a music shop. Had a chance to try a couple. Got it set up and now it's a nice little practice guitar. I left it hard tailed didn't want to mess with the cheap bridge. Great review!
This is one of the best sounding guitars I have reviewed under 200.00... Maybe the best... The one I received needed the fret dressed on the ends.... They were very sharp and had ZERO work done to them from the factory. If the body and neck would not have had the problems with the drilling.... I would say this is a great guitar to buy and do just a fret dressing and go PLAY AND PLAY AND PLAY ! ! ! ! There were some frets that needed to be dressed on the leveling... but it still played well and dint buzz. I really wanted to LOVE this guitar... I'm a Peavey guy.. I own 5 classic Peaveys. Vandenburg's and Nitro's... I should order another one of these and see if I just got a bad one....But it doesn't seem to have a bed following... and people really don't talk about this guitar to much. It is a shame, Peavey coulkd have a Great Guitar here and still hit the 250.00 price point with just a little more time put into the guitar at the factory... 20 mins more on the neck and this would be a steal at 250.00

Ya, I need to learn how to do that. Right now, it is set to AUTO CHAPTER. It seems to take RU-vid about 3 weeks before the chapters show when AUTO CHAPTER is used. The thanks button does go to me. RU-vid does take about 30% of the funds. I buy the guitars and sell them off. Sometimes at a loss and sometimes they are fixed up and sold off to viewers. At some point I will need to get help with all the things that need to be done behind the channel. I know there are better ways to support the channel. But at this time the THANKS BUTTON is all we have. So, I get about 70% of the funds you donate. There are also member perks witch I have not used or tuned on... You pay RU-vid and again I get about 70%. I just don't know what the perk would be... other than member only videos or members see the videos before everyone else. That is soooo COOL ! ! ! ! ! @maorienteg got one that wasn't too good.... I believe he sent his back to Guitar Graden. You can read his posts here as well... This is what it's all about. Everyone posting and telling others how their guitar came. There has only been one post that what they received wasn't up to standards. I would say that's very good. On mine this fit and finish is great... I love the detail and bindings... Just crazy work that went into the guitar.. For under 200.00 bucks it's NUTS ! This run also got the better pickups... I'm still in all over the work in this guitar for the price. Once you install your Strings on it.... A good set of strings it comes to life ! Thanks for coming back and letting everyone know how yours came. Your input helps others!
@@DominionFretWorks It came shipped in a light foam bad inside of a full enclosure styrofoam box that was inside of a cardboard box. I put the guitar under light in an effort to find and chips or scratches and just cannot find anything. The seating of the neck with the laminate is as good as my Terry Mcinturff Empress. I wonder if there are some ex-Fender/Gibson etc employees running this show over there.
Thank You ! ! ! HP2 and this model is all peavey is making right now. Peavey is coming out with some new models.. They are trying to come back. New Vandenberg Model and a New Nitro Model.. all from the 80's and early 90's. Let's hope they reinter the market with good products.
I didn't say in the video... I said Volgoa TN2 and the two Grote Models GR Standard T and S were good guitars for the 170.00 and under. Sometimes find these for a little as 139.00. The Firefly FFTL with the square neck plate on the back that is angled... is the Best under 160.00 guitar I have reviewed in its stock form.
Good review as usual. I bought an older used predator for $60. I redone it. Turned out nice except next time im going to put better pickups in it. learning lesson I like them. Take care 👍✌️💯🎸🎸
Cool vid - as per usual. I have always been a fan of Peavey too. I dig Peavey guitars, amps, and pro audio. One of the best pieces of gear I have ever owned is a Peavey 6500 Powered Mixer, with inputs , so I can hook any of my amps into it, and jamm along with various input types. It's been a game-changer for me - and an incredible learning tool. A mini concert every time I plug in, up in my studio. I have always liked the Predator, and that one is purty! I dig. And Brother.... that opening riffage!!! Yess! I love that. Some almost EVH type stuff. I was feeling Mean Streets for a sec. I'd love to see Peavey up their game on the more budget friendly stuff - such as these guitars, and their Vyper Amps, which I think are total junk right now. Better than 5 years ago. But still junk, IMO. A shame what they did with the neck on this one - and it never should have been shipped. That's just bad. And lastly... I love the Doggo ! Looks like you do too!
Peavey Guitars that were made in the USA ..... One of the best guitars being made at the time.. They never got the recognition they deserved. I have 4 of them . . . All of them are great. When I played out with Bands.... A lot of Guitar players would ask me .... Why do you play a PEAVEY... Downing the guitar. I would let them play the two I played out with. The Nitro Active and the Vandenberg. and they would say ... WOW that's a great playing guitar... Shame it's a Peavey ... I guess what it was.... at the time.... The name on the head stock wasn't Kramer, Ibanez, Jackson or whatever was BIG for the next few months.

My Peavy Raptor Plus came set properly and the Fret edges are all perfectly smooth. I haven't gone to the extent of testing if theyre all completely level but I havent noticed anything odd while using it. Maybe there is more to the story of what happened attempting to set the neck, maybe the original neck was actually destroyed and so they grabbed some extra stock or something that hadn't gone through the full process (possibly explaining the 5th hole). Just guessing, but I can like rub my cheek against them and no scratches.
I love PEAVEY ! I'm on the list for a new Peavey Vandenberg. I have 1 - 89 Vandenberg and 2 -89 Nitro Actives and a 90 Peavey Nitro Std. These are my Babies.... I was hoping for a good budget guitar from them but the one I received had production problems. I did like the sound and the way it played... I am hoping and pulling for Peavey. I really would like to see the band make a come back !
@@DominionFretWorks I'd give it another shot, return it and get a new one. Check other reviews on it, they all echo my sentiments on the Fret edges. You definitely got a lemon.

Seems like as the name brand gets bigger, the less effort is put into their products, especially for intro level gear. Not sure how they think that is gonna fly given all the great quality work of the budget brands being released🤷🏻♂️
Peavey has just dropped the ball. I hate to say that. I'm a BIG PEAVEY FAN BOY ! They were a great company.... I hear so many things about what happened to them. You never know what is true and what is just talk. I hope they can find their way back as the Working Mans Gear.
This is 100% TRUE the guitar body hole needs to be the outer size of the screw. I think, I point this out in the video. I may have said the screw need to slip through the body and pull the neck to it. It is best to use a Screw with a shoulder and the treads start at the joint of the neck and body. This way the guitar body can be drill to the size of the shoulder... not the screw treads. Drilling to the size of the screw treads means you have removed 80% of the contact area. which is not good as well. Drilling to the shoulder (the smooth shaft of the screw before the treads start) still allows the body to be compressed to the neck as the smooth shaft of the screw will just slide through the body of the guitar. I didn't know it was a Secret . . . . It just not what we see in production made guitars. 1) more cost on Hardware 2) More NC time (this requires a tool change and another cycle) I would say another 2 mins max. 1) tool change 2) program cycle 3) tool change again (back to the stock bit) This bit will most likely not be used anywhere else in the program cycles. Unlike a predrill bit drilling for a pick guard where there is multiple holes to drill. This comes down to the BEANS counters... ATC to cycle change for 4 holes... and hardware cost.
The Firefly is better... There were just too many problems with this guitar. 1) miss drill body and neck joint 2) fret dressing... The frets on this guitar were SUPER SHARP. But the guitar did have a good sound... The pickups were great in it. And It did play well... If the body and neck were not miss drilled... I would say this guitar just needs fret dressing... Not saying they are all like this.... But .... If I did get one .. I would check to see if it was miss drilled and if it is... can you return it.
