For a while the 3D printed double ended diesel has been without sound, but on longer. A cheap sound module from China (also available on Amazon for £13.99GBP) has been fitted together with a tractor sound downloaded from the SoundSnap website. Peckforton Light Railway is a 45mm gauge garden railway representing a three foot narrow gauge line which might have run in Cheshire (UK). Nice sound kit I might have to get one myself.

That's very good, I'm not a lover of sound as the speakers are often an issue, but that was fun! I love the raised centre buffers too👍😊✌️

Just when I was thinking... Nah, my trains don't need sound. The tractor sounds really improve the realism! Much needed inspiration today, thanks.

Love the way the diesels have actual multiple working cables. (or are you hiding different bits in different locos?...)

All the gubbins is in one loco and the cables carry motor voltage and headlamp power to the "trailer" loco. Just trying to decide whether to put another soundcard and speaker in the trailer - or whether just to edit the sound file with two engine sounds slightly out of synch

@@rikbennett9 I guess you need to decide if the engines would be worked using multiple working or not - which I guess would be a luxury not many narrow gauge lines could afford. If not then definitely put them slightly out of sink.

Hi Rick, do you have any locos that run on 4 AA li ion batteries, if so how long do they last on a charge. Hoping to get at least an hour and a half out of them. And do you think four batteries will be enough to power a stainz and similar locos or should I double it. Would appreciate your advice.

Hi. When I batteryised my Stainz loco I used 3 x 14500 (AA) li-ions. It runs well on only three. I've not tried an endurance test for it but you'll get well over 1.5 hours. I did an endurance test on another of my locos with three 18650 li-ions and it ran for 14 hours continuously pulling three coaches and a van - so you should easily get seven or more hours from 14500s. Go for batteries with the largest amp hours you can find/afford - eg Ecolux have some 1250mAh 14500 cells for £4.59GBP each - www.ecoluxshopdirect.co.uk/by-size/14500-batteries
