PREFACE - I think this a very fun and fairly inexpensive add-on and recommend giving it a try! I've had mine for a bit 2 years now. I'm an electronics engineering tech for 50+ years and love toys and gadgets! @5:44 - "shifting gears really quick" - PC can have absolutely zero effect on transmission shifting faster or anything like it. All the PC does in INCREASE the amount of throttle being called for in the pedal - as in you push the pedal down 10%, the PC tells the ECU you are pushing it down 60% - that's the only thing it can do. There is no "lag" in the signal going from the throttle to the ECU - if you floor the pedal, it instantly tells the ECU the pedal is floored. Any lag is in the ECU programming. I've played some games with "feathering" and "bumping" the pedal and I can cause somewhat similar responses. PC may add some "ramp steps" in the signal doing essentially the same thing. It definitely makes my 2019 Trek a bit more fun, but cannot increase the power out of the engine at all.
This part is a must for this car. Installed in my 17 crosstrek limited and it’s absolutely opened the car up and is certainly faster when you need it. Highly recommend, you’d be foolish not to try it!
We purchased out 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5 a couple years ago. The stock throttle response is borderline dangerously slow, in certain situations (merging on interstate in traffic). Within a couple of months, I purchased the Pedal Commander. I could not image not having it! Absolutely can't say enough about how pleased my wife and are have been! HIGHLY recommend!
whats so funny is i have a 23 forester sport. i love the way this thing drove so i ended up getting rid of my wifes 21 rav4 limited for a 23 outback limited 2.5, thinking that itll respond the same as it does in the forester. i couldnt be more wrong. now dont get me wrong, the outback still drives and rides fantastic, kinda like riding on a cloud. but this motor doesnt feel right for this car or something. the turbo was out of the question, since i heard it was problematic. it could be because the forester comes with s/i ( sport and wilderness) drive which i think could be it, or maybe the transmission since the forester comes with a 7 speed ( sport) and the outback with an 8 speed. anyhow, im convinced that getting the outback a sprint booster will solve the acceleration problem for the outback. i had one on my 2019 tacoma sport and changed driving that truck on a dynamic level.
I never comment on anything but brotha, thank you! This thing is unbelievable, i just bought me one for my 2020 subi. Install literally took 3 minutes. Best review on youtube 👌😎
With more throttle open you'll def run through the shifts quicker. You can do the same thing by pressing your throttle pedal further and faster then you normally do. It's not changing the shift points etc it's just reaching them sooner due to the throttle being more open at a lower pedal deflection.
Thanks for uploading. Your video was the deciding factor to purchase the PC. It arrives on Monday so I’m pretty excited to see for myself. What setting do you use the most?
Hi thanks for the video, 2 questions. Have you had the opportunity to test this pedal commander with the x-mode , how it works? Do you know how is the response of the car with this device climbing a hill, could it break the CVT?
I suspect not following the install instructions to the letter, or having ignition on when unplugging pedal and plugging in PC could cause an error code.....
Great video but unfortunately (from what I'm reading/watching) it literally only adjusts the opening of the throttle rather than an actual performance upgrade. For instance on another video the owner measured throttle opening (degrees) with the actual pedal in the exact same amount of depression (it was limited how far it would go). The only thing that changed was the Pedal Commander was merely opening the throttle body more with same pedal deflection. So instead of (assumptions) the throttle being open 20deg at 1/4 throttle it might be opening 40deg or 40deg depending in which setting you are running. It's like you simply pressing the gas pedal more than you're used to which also explains why on the higher settings its so "Jumpy". Unfortunately it's not able to open it any more than the hardcoded MAX TB Opening is so it's just re-configuring how much the throttle opens for a certain amount of pedal deflection. If someone has proof of this doing more than re-mapping the throttle opening please provide it as I'd love to get one for myself but I'm more than capable of merely pushing the throttle pedal further and faster myself.
I know this is an old post, but - this is not correct. It is eliminating the electronic throttle lag. Meaning its not just “pushing the pedal harder.” Its also kicking the engine on much faster. So your real-life acceleration improves, because your car starts moving forward much sooner than before. It is NOT equivalent to just “pushing down harder” - just to correct this information for people watching this video. If you have 2 identical cars, the one with PC will get off the line faster because of the eliminated lag time.
@@MMFF00 electronics tech here - if the lag were really in the pedal sensor, the PC couldn't work, because the pedal signal coming to it would be delayed still. It simply changes the reported pedal position and sends it off to the ECU. IF it contains some timing ramps to the signal, it can improve apparent throttle response. I love mine!
Just got one for my 19 Subaru Crosstrek after watching your video! I'm wondering did you have the actual acceleration boost in numbers? I think the stock 0-60 is 9 seconds.
@@Shroter Uh yeah that’s true? But as I stated Not for this item. All the pedal commander does is make the engine feel more responsive. It does not make the car more powerful, and will not impact 0-60 times. Not sure what your point is… lol…
Hi there! I just got one XV (Crosstrek in the US) and I wonder if you can give us a link for this commander (if you bought it in internet, of course). Thank you mate!

I’ve seen the Pedal Commander installed on a 3rd gen Tacoma manual transmission. It should work, I have a ‘21 manual and was contemplating a purchase of this device...
I have had some people with the 6speed tell me it works. I have never owned a manual transmission so I can't say how it will work. But apparently it works!
@@StradysWorld hey man! I’m installing a throttle controller and can’t find the spot on the plug to push in, and I’ve basically lost feeling in my fingers to feel for it 😭 What side is it on? Also, thanks for all these Crosstrek videos. I just got a manual one a year ago, and feel like this is such a great mod for it…if I can get the factory plug off, lol. Love the stuff you’ve done!
