Just brilliant dialogue honestly. It's genuinely amazing how consistently good the writing is. I could honestly believe these two are exactly like this in real life.
Have you seen Succession? Same writer. Shows great versatility, but at the same time you can see his style come through, especially with the insults and some of the weird shit!

Yeah I had to pause so I could look at the board too; those two pawns are looking pretty threatening all the way up the board there. Props to whoever set up the board though, for getting the bishops on the boar correctly. Don't know how many times I've seen clips in films/tv where both bishops are on the same colour.

You can tell the reason they made Mark stutter after 'interdenominational..." is because the joke would've actually landed if he just said it right. "Interdenominational hangover" is actually pretty clever.

It's funny because he's conscious of his subconscious which means it's not his subconscious but also he can't change it which means it is his subconscious so he's consciously using his subconscious to maintain a clean conscience :)
