Sometimes I have to pause and take a break, get my courage back up, and try to watch it again. It's usually the party scenes, like when Mark throws a party or goes to a party or does anything social.
Also the backstories I picked up here. Mark's inner monologue mentions making a remark to April about it being "ancient history now... Haha! No." Later in either this episode or later in the series, Jez' inner monologue suggests making a joke about it being "ancient history now. He probably won't find that funny." Also, Mark recounts back in Uni being teased as "The Sick Man Of Europe". In an earlier series, Jez asks Mark "Am I a piece of shit?" To which Mark replies, "You are the shit man of Europe!"
"Yep, let's sit here, me in my makeup and drink vinegar and lettuce and rum, and eat moulded Dairylea and scribbled cheddar, and talk it all through forever, while those two gently hump in the corner."- Mark's summary of the whole situation is pure gold. One of the best things in the whole series.Still my favourite episode.
I guess you have to be seriously inebriated to have a lot of things to talk about in a friendly coincidental visit and then forget them all when you go to sleep because you're so tired of life and you wonder why you even wake up anymore but then you stop and you watch this thing and then you think what happened to my trajectory and where did it go wrong.
I honestly feel Mark is the personification of England. No matter how cool, trendy or modern England may become, at its twisted and sexually repressed backbone is this truly spineless man. Either him, or a tossup between C-3PO and my demented grandmother who turns 90 today.
I agree, but for different reasons. If England was a person it would probably wank to audiobooks about the Ottoman Empire and call his shit cooking Moroccan while wearing eyeshadow in a kitchen painted green for some reason.
@Stefano Pavone Brazil, with its devil-may-care attitude towards life's serious issues, callousness regarding timetables and almost constant partying. Tough I'm probably biased to say that, as I live in it.
The stilton joke is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. I first saw this episode years ago, still remember that part and think about it often.
Whenever I need a laugh I also come straight back to it! Even reading the comments on here is making me cry with laughter. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever ever seen!
