Reverse and Speed 1 only starts when the left wheel gets moving (by pushing the Polaris slightly or spinning it manually). The right wheel does not move unless the left one starts moving.
Speed 2 works right away, but only the right wheel spins. Left wheel starts moving when it gets traction, but it doesn't move as fast as the right wheel. This causes the Polaris to even more spins in place on asphalt / grass.
