My American dad, an avid American football fan, was a Pele admirer way back in the 1950s, before most of us had even heard of soccer, and Brazil was a place of mystery. That's how much reach the great king of football had. RIP, Pele.👑⚽👑
As a former dancer I could watch this loop for hours. Pele is impossible to replace because he was as much a great dancer of football as he was an athlete. They used to talk of the great Russian Danseur Nijinski as defying gravity - that he could suspend in the air during leaps for impossible lengths of time. Pele defied physics, and did it with such grace and ease it is almost like a choreography for the gods. And now God has him all to himself!
El gol donde la para de pecho en el área es una obra maestra . Cuando el balón va cayendo le pone levemente el pie , y la pelota a penas da un bote … un genio.
As a Brazilian citizen, I cried when watching this! This great man, this king of his time, did so much for our nation with the immense pride and joy he poured on us... We will never be able to thank him enough... THANK YOU KING!!! WE LOVE YOU
1) Total dexterity in both feet. He could score with either foot effectively, almost to the point of forgetting which feet he favored. 2) Height was just 5'7" or 5'8", but Pele's vertical jumps for headers used to tower over opponents 3 and 4 inches taller than himself, 3) He could create something threatening out of a miscued attack plan. These are but a few of what I consider to be qualities that clearly separate him from those breezily touted to be equal or better than him nowadays. Goodbye O Rei! 🙏 Thank you ❤
Like Muhammed Ali, there won't be another like this talent ever in the history of football. The only one to get celebrated by all fans, even when he scored against you couldn't help but appreciate his genius.
The stunned reaction of great Brazilian midfielder Gerson after Pele's magnificent head-in from forward striker Rivelino's crossing in total bewilderment, then he crossed himself, is a timeless spectacle.
What a amazing person in those days in football game. The great world wondered by seeing his game if we say so this fact it is not exaggreation. The great pela is always living with us by remember his game. Very nice. Thanks.
En en el gol que le hace al benfica, la segunda gambeta es indecifrable. Mire mil veces esta jugada y no logro ver que movimiento hace para eludir al defensa. Un genio

I met, in a barbershop here in Niterói, Jair Marinho. Jair Marinho was a right-back who played for Fluminense and was a reserve for Brazilian team that won the World Cup in 1962. He played with Pelé and Garrincha and told me stories about that time. He also participated in the match Santos vs Fluminense, in which Pelé scored the so-called "Gol de Placa", in which he dribbled 6 Fluminense players, before scoring the goal. And Jair Marinho confirmed the beauty of that goal. One of the two most fantastic goals by Pelé not recorded. There is another goal against Juventus (from São Paulo), which Pelé says is the most beautiful. Marinho died 3 years ago.
Time Magazine asked Pelé " Today would you be a good player ?". "Better " he answered, "because at former times there was not even yellow card, backs injured me without any restriction". In fact, in both World Cups 1962 and 1966 he was mangled ..., the cards being introduced only in WC 1970.
Pele was probably the greatest soccer player ever. Now my story is a little different why I say that. I grew up right in the middle of the United States in farm country. It was the late 1970s and I'm arguing with a friend of mine soccer versus hockey. With a major league hockey team only an hour away that's where the influence of hockey came from. I said Pele. He said Gretzky. The fact that we weren't arguing about football or baseball in American terms got our cool science teacher attention. People gave me a little bit of a hard time because I wanted a soccer team. Imagine that in the late seventies in the middle of the United States out in the farm field. I assure you they would have been a little rougher about it but I could easily bend the best tackle that are high school football team had if I was interested in football. Remember Pele played soccer. According to our definitions. We never got the soccer team and now soccer in other parts of the Midwest of the United States is popular. I never really pursued soccer even being and active spectator. I attended soccer games occasionally. So this man from Brazil I never met inspired me to like soccer so much I would face ridicule for it. Not as much ridicule if I was smaller guy than what I am. I found I accident today my researching the death of another person that did not even know and he was a racer. About the funeral. I did not know Pele had passed. And I guess I never realized I thought much of what age he would be nowadays. The news took me back and saddened me. Just think what could have been in our little town where the school was not even air conditioned if a few more people backed soccer. Now soccer is prevalent throughout many parts of the United States. It transcends race and color in its appeal. Pele had a lot to do with the growth of soccer here and worldwide. What a tribute to one man!
