This video gives you the tools you need to effectively use 3 part breath to infuse your lower lungs with oxygen and improve your stress response.
This takes abdominodiaphragmatic breathing to a more challenging level by separating the inhales and exhales into 3 segments each.
It naturally increases the length of your inhales and exhales which improves your respiratory rate, heart rate variability, and overall health.
Other benefits include:
✅ Deeper relaxation response
✅ Management of stress/pain
✅ Improved oxygenation of tissue
✅ Enhanced brain health
✅ Pelvic floor stretch and relaxation
Breathing in this way encourages a deeper mindfulness which can be performed in almost any position that is comfortable for you.
As you are starting with this breath, using your hands to help cue where you want your focus to be helps tremendously. Overtime, you will likely not need these cues anymore.
Enjoy this breath practice! Let us know how it works for you!
You can learn the many other benefits of this breathing technique in the book, Medical Therapeutic Yoga, by Dr. Ginger Garner.

My problem with yoga; has always been that there is an element of worship involved.

I agree with you, I have that same concern. Yoga itself is nontheistic, but many choose to take the theistic/religious route, to practice and combine it with their religion. The other piece of that is even if someone is nontheistic in their yoga philosophy, quite often "lineage-guru" based yoga is a chief influence, which then turns it toward "worship" again. It's why I developed this type of yoga. No lineage. No guru. No worship.
