GREAT VIDEO! I have tons of regular Cricut Pens. When I asked for and got a Cricut Joy XTRA for Christmas it never occurred to me that the pens would be different! I knew someone would have a video about this! THANK YOU!!!!~
Angie... just got the adapters, thank you for the recommendation, can't wait to start and explore the other pens, however I have been using your hack on the Sharpie fine point to date... AWESOME. Anyone watching this I highly recommend her hacks/recommendations.
Ok, this was some great information! I just purchased the Joy and I was wondering could other writing devices be used in it. A gazillion thanks for testing out and sharing these alternative writing devices. Can't wait to use some that I already have! Look forward to learning more about the Joy.

Just tried this with an old Bic Mark it fine point marker. I didn’t need an adapter. I marked it in comparison to my Cricut Joy pen and it worked! Thanks!
Great video! It's amazing how people are all worried about effecting their warranty though. How would anyone even know if you used an adapter unless you told them? LOL! It's not like you're unscrewing hardware and replacing parts - THAT'S the stuff that could be questionable for losing your warranty - not adding a silly adapter.

Thank you for this video!!! I’m slowly getting rid of my fear of using the Cricut joy! It’s amazing how I will be able to use some of my different pens!🥰 I wouldn’t put the Tombow brush pen...it’s a delicate tip for lettering, and it needs to be at an angle or else the tip will get ruined. Maybe only the fine tip will be fine.😊💗
Awesome video, thanks for sharing!! When it comes to the pens that dont work with any premade adapters, you can also make your own adapters by wrapping a 1" strip of paper around the barrel of the pen until it's thick enough to fit snuggly in the machine or another adapter.

Thanks for the awesome video! I had actually purchased some adapters from this shop a few months and was afraid to use them because they're tight fit. However, I push up a little on the bottom of the holder when I insert the pen/adapter and it works great. I especially love that I can use my Maker pens. :)
I was looking for a tutorial on how to use the pens--a project from start to finish--so this didn't help too much. But it's good to know other pens will work.
I tried the fine tip sharpie marker, and extra fine paint marker in my cricut joy and they wouldn't fit. They were too fat and I didn't want to force it. I also tried it on the Pilot "easy touch" pen and it worked! So I am happy. The marker that came with my cricut joy ran out after using it ONE time! I was so disappointed and didn't want to waste more money buying more if they were going to run out so fast.

I am purchasing the cricket joy and can’t wait to get it. I was intrigued when you said we could use sublimation pens or infusible Ink pens. Do you have a video showing what type of projects you would use them for?

I just found your video and it is amazing! I started writing with the Joy but get lots of spots where the Joy starts and stops. Do you know if it is because of the pen or the font I selected?
Hi Angie, thank you for the video. Does using different pens change the draw and cut dimensions? We tried making stickers on the cricut joy using a sharpie and the cut lines didn’t line up.

Because these are personalised I would only need to print one gift tag at one time instead of a whole sheet, am I able to do this on this machine? Also, would I be able to use already cut gift tags for the Cricut Joy to print on? Thank you! ❤😊
You can't do print then cut with the Cricut Joy. The new Cricut Joy Xtra does do print then cut. So, you could ONLY write the gift tag and cut it out with this machine. It can do one at a time. Using already cut gift tags and writing on them is REALLY tricky as they are hard to line up. It is possible however.

I'm thinking of buy a machine, do you think I should start with the cricut Joy, or move to the Cricut Maker 3? my main goal is to make stickers, perhaps boxes made of card stock, and I'm also wondering if I can use a picture of my dog who passed away in anything, say like if I want to make a plaque?
For stickers, I would get the Explore or Maker. Boxes as well will be too large to make on the Joy. For the plaque idea, perhaps etched metal would work? For that would you need the Maker or Maker 3.
