@@brooklynanglerfishing The Clash II is three "steps up" from the Battle III on the PENN roster. However, the Battle III is about 40-percet lower in price than a comparable-sized Clash II.
What a nice looking reel. I own the Battle 2 8000 . I've been looking for a inshore reel. My mind is made up on what I am going to buy. Hopefully the prices will be far, not too expensive. I own several peen reels and rods. I feel confident that Peen will keep the price down enough that we the can afford them. Keep the Battle going.
look into the DX version, stands for dealer exclusive version. for 5 bucks more you get all brass and an extra bearing, and supports tackle shops on top of it all
I used my Penn Battle for my first 2 seasons and i love it. I caught Dorado, Calico Bass, Barracuda, and so much more. I now fell in love with my Penn Fathom so i will be passing down my Penn Battle to a little kid and he will be unstoppable when fishing on the ocean.
Nice reel! I’ve bought the battle III travel combo, I’ll like to try it for fishing sharks around 60/80kg, would it be able to do this kind of heavy fishing? I think the reel is going to be ok, the rod maybe bette a carnage?
Hi Michael, thanks for your message! We have 4 Surf Spinning rod series available to pair with a Battle III 8000. Depending on the size of baits you'll be throwing, and the species you're chasing - we suggest having a look at the specification chart of each rod series to find the rod which best suits your needs. Have a look, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions: www.pennfishing.com/collections/spinning-rods?_=pf&pf_t_activity=fishing_type%3ASurf
Hey, I'm planning to upgrade my fishing gear, what should I get for the reel. Battle III or Conflict II? I do saltwater surf fishing, Fish target small-medium.
Both happen to be excellent choices Bysic! The Battle series is available in more gear ratios than the Conflict, depending on your preferred presentation. We suggest having a look at both reel series on our website to compare specifications: www.pennfishing.com/collections/saltwater-spinning-reels/products/battle-iii-spinning-1523128
I thought the Battle II was below the Daiwa BG for the money, but the Battle III is simply a better reel than the BG. I bought the 4k and 6k for guests on my boat and I end up using them a lot.
We suggest considering the Carnage™ III Surf Conventional ULUA: www.pennfishing.com/collections/casting-rods/products/carnage-iii-surf-conventional-ulua-1292650
I just got this combo about a month and a half ago and the first day of using it, snap!!!! The rod snapped close to the reel holder. I got a 30+ striped bass on that reel and it was amazing but very disappointed with the rod. On the second large fish it snapped.

Ok i have all battle 2s frome 2500 to the 8000 I have replaced most of my rods because of the crap eye inserts after about 14 months just after 1 year warranty some with no use ..i use the 4000 3000 and 6000 most....I see you changed the eyes this time thank god...... But what makes the penn battle 3 reels better then the Battle 2s???? why should i sell mine that i have already replaced my rods to say star or a custom rod to the new ones? I am asking YOU Penn what other then the Rods makes these better then the battle 2s?
The biggest change is that the III series has the CnC "machined" gears. Other changes include being lighter, having a bearing in the line roller, and larger handles.
Fair enough, during the year-long field-test period, any company is going to want to have close contact with any new product under development. These reels should be hitting store shelves by the end of this month, and given the general overall shortage of fishing tackle right now, will most likely see immediate use by a large cross-section of anglers. You should be able to get plenty of recommendations from "John Q. Public" by the end of next month.
These reels started arriving in stores last week, and by all accounts are going out the door at a rapid pace. Fishing is excellent almost everywhere. Should be plenty of real-world user reports showing up.
You bet they do! Both 400 series low profile baitcasting reels come with power handles. Check out all the details on our website, here: www.pennfishing.com/collections/low-profile-baitcast-reels
@@PENNfishing fantastic! thank you very much.... so in many ways.... it's quite similar to the older model clash, right? The old clash reels have been very good to me.
The rods in the video are Carnage II Boat Spinning rods, we have recently upgraded and expanded the Carnage rod series, you can find all the information and specifications for the new Carnage III rods on our website through the link below: www.pennfishing.com/search?q=carnage+III
Hard question regarding line laying.... Nobody have an answer? You saw my old message but you pass it... Never answer... So the wind knots still there as on Penn battle 2
Line lay can be adjusted with supplied spacers, installed on the spindle. Please see our service page for more information about having your reel serviced. www.pennfishing.com/pages/repairs-service
Honestly, these reels are kind of like a very heavy hammer for sinking 16 penny nails. They are OK, but nothing like the Shimano Ci4 Sustains, or even the new Daiwa offerings. Penn reels are dependable, but clunky, heavy, and old fashioned. Decent for the price, but not “Like Buttah!”. Penn reels never were. I have many of them including newer ones, but I don’t throw lures with them. Live lining, popping cork, chunk on a circle hook? Sure, that is what they are for.
Yes. These Battle III reels range $99-$149 retail. PENN's lowest-priced "Made in USA" spinning reel is the "Z" series, at $199 retail. The "Z" series are by far the lowest-priced US-made spinning reels offered by any manufacturer.
Battle 2 was one of the most widely used spinning reels on the market by fishermen who demand more then the average spinner east coast to west for any type of fish why? Bang for buck!!! I have had three myself and have never taken one apart yet which is more than I can say for both of my spinfisher V go figure and I thrash my gear hard!!!
u must fired the person in handle and knob design department....or bring him to the east to learn how to design knob and handle....and dont let me start on spool design....body is ok.... 1. learn about one piece handle 2. replaceable knob (different person have different preference)
ive never seen a gear that is not machined form one solid piece of metal... even my fathers Daiwa BG 30 that is now almost 40 years old has its main gear machined out of a solid chunk of metal... looks like a lot of marketing talk and no real innovation
True that C-n-C machined gears are not new. What has not been seen for a number of years are C-n-C machined gears in a reel of this "popular" price point [under $150]. The BG models your dad bought 40 years ago were the most expensive spinning reels on the market at that time, and of course it is true that today's top of the line reels all have C-n-C gears. However, the prices for those high-end reels have increased considerably. .
