@@thememaster7 It as absolutely one of the best compliments you can get when one of the most popular and well-known magicians tells you you are the greatest at something.
Seriously. Dani's routine on Fool Us was absolutely mind-blowing and game-changing. I have seen every episode so far, and this was the best card trick yet.
What I don’t think gets enough credit is Penn’s eloquence when communicating. He speaks like a seasoned author would write, always finds a way to gracefully compliment without coming across as fake. Class act. Also Dani is an unbelievable talent so not that hard a sell in this case but hearing a legend of the game talk about him like this will mean the world.
I think people are pretty aware that Penn's eloquence is as important to their success as any technical talents that he or Teller have. And Dani, who need impress no one at this point, would be more concerned with Teller. You can tell by who looks at who. After the reveal, Osmond looks to Penn to validate his "that's crazy, right?", but Penn looks to Teller.
I watched Dani's routine 3 times now. I don't even care how he does it. I'm doing it out of pure joy. Is the best routine I've seen on the show. The magicians that impressed me the most on the show are from Spain: Dani, Jandro and Javi Benitez.
100%. On other acts I've paused and played it in 0.25 speed to be able to spot the trick, but never on this one. I just want to have fun, be amazed and don't want to know how he does it, I just want to be a child that sees real magic.
I could be way off base, but I think this trick incorporates vortex mathematics. i.e. fibonacci sequence, golden triangle etc. This is one of the most beautiful patterns in nature and I think its the crux of this piece.
Believe it or not, he's just using basic techniques that even amateur magicians are familiar with, like memorizing the deck order (notice the cards are not shuffled prior to him starting his routine), false cuts, palming, pinky breaks, forcing, and so on. It's just that he's exceptionally good at it, and his use of misdirection is masterclass.
This and Richard Turner's act are my two favorite of all time on Penn and Teller. Richards act because of the mechanical skill, Dani's act because of the how factor. If that is mechanical skill and sleight of hand then I am blown away.
It certainly is all sleight of hand and quick mind and quick fingers. If you watch the act again, you will see he's constantly touching, handling, cutting and manipulating the cards in a seemingly random and useless way, but that's where all the magic is happening.
I think it was eight years ago, I was staying in Sevilla for a couple of weeks. My first night there I met a guy doing card magic in a bar, I introduced myself and told him Im also into magic. He told me that a few weeks later Dani Daortiz and Lennart Green were going to have a performance together in a theater, and so I went to see them perform. I am so thankful to have experienced that. These two legends sharing a stage. I dont understand how anyone can be that entertaining and magical with just one deck of cards. And both Danis and Lennarts stage personalities are so sweet, all the jokes are on their own expenses. The way Dani was able to go on this television show and perform so flawlessly and so entertaining, I just cant believe it
I totally get why donny was like that, because so was i. Ok, its a card trick, seen plenty of these, oh that first move was nice, and then the growing "HOW THE **** IS HE DOING THIS" feelings as the routine progresses to the final "OH MY GOD, HOW THE ***?" at the end. Simply the best card routine i've ever seen.
Excellent recognition. I’ve watched ever single Penn and Teller Fool Us episode and your performance was truly funny and completely thought stumping. I’ve shared it with many people to show how good this trick is
The amount of risks (and added risks by the spectators Allison & Donny unpredictability) taken in these routines is mind blowing. I would have been sweating so much.
Risk is relative. By his own admission, large parts of the routine were improv, and the only parts relatively fixed was the destination. His management of his participants is a true masterclass.
I'm no expert on magic by any means. But I've watched almost every FU episode. This must be one of the very best Fool Us performances by far. just mind blowing. And since I'm trying to slowly learn Spanish right now (I'm Slovak btw.), let me say: !felicitones, senor! muy bien!
I've had an interest in card magic since I was 12, which is to say about 20 years at this point, and I've NEVER seen a performer like DaOrtiz. I showed my girlfriend, who's always a bit eye-rolly about magic, and she just concluded that the man is probably a wizard. She was floored and even moreso when I told her that I can't even think of any of the sleights or manipulations he could possibly be using. Astounding performance.
I have been following your work for many years, Dani and I am so proud of you. You totally deserved it. Thank you for inspiring me. Your tricks are special in way that does not require crazy sleight of hand, but rather fluency, humor, great energy, misdirection and simplicity. I admire your work.
No importa las veces que he visto estos trucos, y en diferentes escenarios, lo importante es que cada vez que los veo ME ENCANTAN las caras de ¿Cómooooooo? que ponen los invitados. Graaaande Dani!!!
I have seen (and bought) a fair deal of tutorials for magic tricks in my life. I can honestly say Dany DaOrtiz is the only magician for whom I was even more fooled (and entertained) during and after the explanation than during the trick (Dani DaOrtiz Live 3 is the perfect example).
After watching over, and over, and over, I think I've got it figured out. That doesn't change the fact that it's probably the greatest card trick routine I've ever seen.
I have a theory part of the trick has to do with vortex math, golden triangle, fibonacci sequence type shit. Am I way off base here? Doesn't he pull 2 cards out of the deck?
@@ThePdog3k You may be right, but for the final trick I believe it's much simpler than all that actually. A lot of the "magic" is in his misdirection and presentation skills. I don't want to talk too much about the method here out of respect for him though.
I can't even begin to express how amazed I am by the material Dani has published, Penn is absolutely right to say he's the greatest card magician who ever lived. It blows my mind that Spain has produced so many incredible magicians, whose work has yet to fully penetrate the English-speaking world to the degree it deserves. I cannot wait to sink my teeth into Dani's humongous catalogue of instructional material, especially the parts that cover the philosophy of magic, not just the methods themselves.
I think a book on the philosophy of magic, not an instructional one, but for the general audience, would be great. Our minds are manipulated all the time, now, and I am sure such a book would be helpful in resisting that.
Well, it would be great if you could provide a link with Tamariz proclaiming that Dani has surpassed him. But in any case, I was referring to your statement about how many great magicians have come from Spain, and I repeat my original statement: "it all comes from Tamariz"@@sfdntk
I saw that show and the clip on RU-vid, Dani is amazing, funny and an unbelievably great Magician! I especially liked when Penn said we don't have time to go to our seats "YOU FOOLED US!"
I didn't have enough knowledge about the best card magicians. But if Penn says, that you are the best. I believe him instantly after seeing what you did on Fool Us.
I was glad to hear that. I saw Teller's face, as well. * In the comments, people accused him, staging the girl. How stupid and what a disrespect! Also, one could see, how impressed she was. * As for me, I am watching it in a loop. I have to see it a hundred times ... and still don't see anything fishy. I always laugh on each joke over again and again!
Maestro! If you read that, please look after Mago Tomas. I was delighted with his charisma, as he handled the jury at age 16 by Spanish Got Talent. I watched his routines dozens of times. I hope he will be around, as well. ((He also does some of this "name a card" stuff )).... From Hungary
My favorite part is how he’s just fumbling around looking like he’s got no clue and then pulls out awesome results. People can blather about how he does it, and we all know it’s a stupid amount of hard work that’s behind it. But to the 99.99% of us that can’t do the simplest card magic ourselves, it’s just amazing to watch. One of my favorite FU performances. They better bring him back a few more times.
The sloppiness is all part of the psychology of the routine. He looks and acts like he's just picked up a deck of cards for the first time. It's perfection.
This is inherited from Juan Tamariz, looking slopy has always been the biggest "trick" Tamariz carries on every act. Although his charming personality is ever greater, but not fooling the way his unpreocupied handle looks.
@@gonzalogoded2089 Lennart Green seemed to have a similar philosophy (I'm no magician or historian of the art, that's just my personal impression). It is just so much more magical than someone clearly demonstrating the ability to move and arrange cards on the fly.
To the other .01% who really can do card magic...it's just as impressive. The 3 of hearts pull is fun to rewatch because you can see it happen and appreciate the technique of moving the box twice, but the speed of that two of clubs pull is inhuman. And the ease of the forcing...
Dani's performance was incredible, reminded me of Lenart Green, a very funny and wacky social performance with the volenteers interlaced with top-level sleight of hand that's almost overshadowed by the persona.
Muy buen trabajo Dani, no sé cuantas veces he visto la actuación incapaz de resolver los trucos ni las veces que la veré, un saludo desde el norte de España. Sigue así
Second and third Penn's perspective. Dani's appearance on FOOL us was the best card trick I have ever seen. I keep going and watching it and have really only figured out one move. No idea about the rest though I have a vague idea about the rest of the routine....but very very vague.
There are 3 types of ppl in magic world, spectator looking for a show to impress them will go to a professional magician show, those whom interested to learn magic will go to high level magician to learn, for those professional magician and high level magician whom wanted to watch or learn a new “card” tricks, they just go to Dani Daortiz, that is the level of Dani in magic world, card tricks…. He’s the GOAT in our community
This act was incredible, I’ve shown it to multiple people now. @Dani - the word Fool is misspelled in your video title. Just advising so people don’t miss this video when searching for you. (:
That's great! So proud of Dani 😁👍. Penn saying that Dani is better then Juan thats a huge complement. That's so awesome! Again the new King of cards. 😁👍
Ive watched that clip almost frame by frame like it was the Zapruder film. The ONLY thing that MAYBE I caught is where he loaded that card on top of the card box...but still no idea how he found that card (or Donnie's card) so quickly.
He's published everything he performed on Fool Us, some of it years ago. You can pick up where he left off. He has a more impressive body of work than I ever will, but I've created some original things that he might not have been able to, because they aren't in his voice. Don't be disheartened. Just have fun, explore, and try to create a better version of yourself.
He didn't do a real card trick, or slight, force.... It was real Magic! totally blown away and would have given big money to see that in person. OMG was Teller really that blown away, if so to showed how crazy that "Magic" was.
Even Richard Turner is damn good with card mechanics! I was able to figure out how he did some of the tricks in his fool us performance, but Dani’s performance had me completely fooled. I couldn’t figure out a thing...
Tengo suerte, estoy siendo contemporáneo con el Cartomago mas grande desde que existe la Magia, esto no es una competencia pero Dani a superado a todos sus maestros y por mucho...
