This kind of state rivalry is completely foreign to me as a European. Is it even ethical since we're talking about two American academic institutions? And the craze for university sports seems so unnecessary, from my pov at least. I mean, it's a uNiVeRsItY. Your job is to study and excel at academics, not football. Seems like half ofhese dudes become students just so they can play football. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?
@@honeyhearts4844 completely healthy, competition. Yes,they are recruited. But from all over the country. Most college atheletes turn pro in something other than sports so it makes sports much more better than pro sports,to me. The fight songs,team spiret,the crowds, it's great. We don't hate each other. Well, maybe for a few hours,but.... LoL 😂

Can barely hear the Blue Band half the time because the crowd is so loud. Nothing wrong with being loud though. Greatest fans in all of College Football!
I was on the field for this game and have to say that it was one of the best games I have ever been at in over 40 years! Truly amazing! Amazing fans..GO PENN STATE!!!
this was the first WHITEOUT I missed in person since they began them.......Watching it on TV still allows you to see how awesome it is and deserves the accolades it gets from everyone THAT IT IS THE GREATEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL ATMOSPHERE HANDS DOW. But nothing beats being in that atmosphere and screaming and cheering for our team IN PERSON. In 2019 I invited my best friend from Corvallis, OR to attend the WHITEOUT game against MICHIGAN. He took me up on the offer and couldn't believe what he experienced. He left saying that he was thankful to be a part of our great WHITEOUT and said it's the best hands down of any college football atmosphere. WE ARE PENN STATE.
It was my first WHITEOUT as a Penn State student. One of the best days of my life. Technically the day didn’t end til Sunday morning 6:00AM 😅 I’m sorry you missed it but don’t worry this WHITEOUT will go down in the books as one of the best Penn State WHITEOUTS. WE ARE!!!…
Can you explain to me what makes people so excited for university football? I'm a European and I just don't get what you're all worked up about here. You support the PSU team because...? What does it mean to you personally when "your" team wins? I'm fascinated by this lol
@@honeyhearts4844 We are a country where we can all gather around one common thing, which is sports. We root for universities because it’s tradition. I grew up cheering for PSU, the people before me grew up cheering for them, etc. Long story short, sorry Europe sucks and doesn’t enjoy the beauty of collegiate sports.
@@reiffmeister9792 no. I'm just trying to understand why universities would invest so much time and effort in amateur sports? So far, all I've come up with is that it's got to do something with channelling the competitiveness which is like a cultural trait.
OK I have been watching a whole bunch of other University's band's pregames. Ours KICKS ASS. The only one close is Texas A&M , they march really well. But the Blue Band has the whole package.
So glad I went to a school that did DCI style halftime. This would've driven me insane after marching Velvet Knights, Santa Clara Vanguard or Blue Devils.
