My grandmother told me the true story about the accident in Wopsy. It was not the 60's but much, much earlier. She knew the couple well and you really had to dig the story out of her. At that time many people began hearing about the "White Lady". She died 2 yrs ago but often it seemed to upset her so we stopped asking. There is another on the other side of the same mountain where a young man, a hitchhiker, appears and accept rides only to disappear after talking about the end of the world and how the world needed to find peace. Many older police officers will tell you about the many times they have answered calls for both. These aren't just stories, these were tragedies.

The story of the Vanishing Hitchhiker was first published in the 19th century, l believe Victor Hugo told it first of a small child begging someone to take her home in their carriage. When they get to the house, she's not in the carriage.

I'm in Northumberland County. I've encountered the lady in white in broad daylight on the train tracks after fishing about a 1/4 mile from my house. My friend seen her too and she disappeared in front of our eyes! Other than seeing the shadow man during my teens this was the most scared I've been. Another time we were fishing at night we heard what sounded like a woman being murdered due to loud screams. But then something hurled a huge rock in the center of the creek. We were outta there so fast we left everything till the morning.

I'm from Altoona, Pa and the last urban legend is ours. The story varies has to what happened to the lady and her husband and what year it happened. Just like the guy said in the video, the version I heard was that they were married and heading down the mountain in a horse and buggy and something spooked the horse at a bend in the road called Devil's elbow. They crash and obviously both die, I heard one version that the wife tried to find help and died on the side of the road. There's two mountains that this legend belongs to so even the location can switch, supposedly my dad and a few relatives of ours went to the location of the crash and they say a white mist formed near them and float towards them slowly. Needless to say they ran off of the mountain as fast as they could, at least that's what he told me.

Great show! I´m a brazilian, from north of the country! Here in my town - Belém do Pará - we have the Woman in the Taxi!! She asks for rides in taxis, because its his birhtday, and his parents always give to her a ride as a gift! The taxi drives her all around the city, and finally, upon arrival later at the girls home, she tells the guy to collect the money ride on the next day! The guy accepts, and the next morning goes to the girl´s house, only to discover: the girl has passed away many years ago, and yes, when she was still living, his parents give her, at his birthday, a taxi ride around the city as a gift! This is a version of this tale... Some versions says than the taxi driver goes mad, or the girl leaves the taxi at the frontgate of a cemetery, only to dissapear in front of the now histerical driver! Aniway, theres a catch: In our most prominent cemetery, there is a tomb of a girl, and there is a picture of that girl there, where you can see that he has a car brooch attached to his shirt. Her name was Josephina Conte. Of Italian origin, he received a car ride from his father whenever he celebrated his birthday. All of this, however, ended when she was diagnosed with tuberculosis. And so, she started to live confined, coming to die some time later. Hence the legend of the Woman in the Taxi! I saw the tomb and the photo! I dont know if anothers vanishing hitchhikers legends around the world had some kind of link to documented real people. Anyone knows?

When I was a kid I lived in a small half double on the one side there was an old man that lived there he was always outside spitting tobacco out and he took pride in his yard I remember him out there with a ruler cutting grass with scissors anyway fast forward 15 years I lived a few blocks away and I met a girl and she asked me to come to her house to hang out with her and her brothers well I did and we pull up and here they lived in my old neighbors house his name was Joe so I go in and her moms boyfriends daughter was there and she started talking about a guy she sees she said he prays on his knees at the top of the steps near a cross hanging above the door and that he comes downstairs and walks into the kitchen and she said she had spoken with him and I was like what's his name and she says Joe and I was like wow that's my old neighbor I never told her his name before I just mentioned I lived next door when I was a kid so we started watching a movie with all the lights off and all of a sudden we heard a noise and I turned my head and seen a pair of ghostly looking legs walking down the steps we all ran out and I looked in the window and sure enough he was walking into the kitchen we hung out outside for a while and finally went back in and there was no sign of him I couldn't believe my eyes looking back I wish I woulda stayed in there because I'm sure he was completely harmless he seemed like a nice guy.

Oral traditions kept my ancestors alive for thousands of years, living in harmony with their environment. I think if is folly to underestimate the power of the oral tradition. Not only do oral traditions tranmit knowledge, but they serve to strengthen social cohesion and respect for the elder generations, as they are the source of knowledge. I am happy that paradigms in academia are shifting and other ways of knowing besides Eurocentric ones are being appreciated. I enjoyed your video :)

If the lady was dead and her fiance was dead why couldn't they find each other.?? And how did she , & her baby die? 💀☠️💀💀

possibly due to uncertainty she felt of not knowing his fate. Since she seems to have died prior to learning of his death, it sounds like she wanders with their child looking either for him directly or for someone who knew of his final fate

Well yes, Hence the original 13 colonies of America, the whole of that ancient part of America is full of small rural colonial style towns and settlements, just outside of Washington there are many small traditional towns that look like something out of the 17th and 18th centuries, I am from the UK but love so much New England and the wider colonal coast and area of America, stunningly beautiful. The majority of people who live in the upper East Coast are descendants of the colonial settlers.

Ugh, I hate it. We have tons of ghost sightings and stories in Schuylkill County and this video skunked us with a story of hooligans, a nervous Nellie, and no ghost. You should have checked with the Historical Society before you made this.
