@theatticreview777 ty for your comment. Tim Curry will always be the GOAT of Pennywise. I don't like the movies or Bill Tryhard. Tim Curry is a very gifted actor & he never needed cgi. i loved the book S. King wrote, but you're entitled to your opinion.

Fun Fact: Tim Curry almost played the Joker 🃏 in Batman 🦇 the animated series, but had to drop out because he got sick 🤒 when they first recorded his voice.

After reading the book I can't watch the 90's miniseries anymore. There's so much cool Pennywise lore left out. Tim Curry is still phenomenal in the role but that's about it for me.

I grew up on the made for tv version, but it was entirely too short, missed a bunch of good scares, and I thought the casting for Bill was all wrong. Tim Curry was perfect, of course. The second part of the remake was screwed up, but overall I found the scares and the casting to be perfect

Curry is the winner, without a doubt. I personally think Skarsgard is very good but I feel somewhat miscast. To me, an older actor is required to convey the aged wisdom of Pennywise. Skarsgard was very young for the part, and it does come across as more naive rather than seasoned. Chapter II was also somewhat ruined by a greater focus on humor, which I feel is never required to help 'balance' the dread of horror.

It still amazes me how IT continues to scare people to this day, and how two different interpretations of the character and story manage to bring out varying reactions out of people. I much prefer Tim Curry as Pennywise over Bill Skarsgård, though that takes nothing away from the fact that Skarsgård’s interpretation does well in coming off as unsettling by the fact he’s playing up the alien side of the monster so well. You can sense with his Pennywise from the get go he is not of this world, and that it’s literally something alien trying its best to pretend to be human yet is having a hard time trying to keep up the facade for too long if the victim isn’t falling for its tricks. It’s the perfect counterbalance to Tim Curry, who masterfully played Pennywise as more of a supernatural force crossed with the awful trickery of a predatory adult. Also on a side note: It would be cool to one day see a translation of the 1998 Hindi series “Woh”, which was in itself a 52 episode remake of the 90s IT miniseries starring little person actor Liliput as the clown. His interpretation is far more goofy, but even he has his creepy moments when that humor goes completely out the window and he shows the dark side of the clown. 😄

They ruined the scene I thought was scariest. It was in it 2, when the leper corners the kid. I started to cringe back in my seat and I really didn't want to see what happened next. Then, at the apex of my terror they cut in a quick musical riff! Angel of the Morning? Seriously? That scene was scary as hell. I wish I could see it without the music cut.

In my opinion, both, the mini TV series and the muschietti movies are *extremely* overrated. Though I have to admit that I prefer the mini TV series a lil bit more because it takes itself seriously unlike the movies where there are way too many jokes thrown here and there and that totally kills the mood. Besides that though, the only thing that saves these products is the way Tim Curry and Bill Skärsgard embodied the character, different but similar at the same time, but other than that there's not much really, the 90s one was restricted by being a TV series so it was 'doomed' since the beginning, the newest one relied waaaay too much on CGI, so yeah like I said, both are very overrated.

That's so garbage they took his title like that and we are subjected to some lame.ass videos expecting quality. Maybe it’s from growing up watching Bozo the Clown, but that TV audience scene in the 2017 version was incredibly eerie for me! Curry was brilliant, but as a result I feel fans were too critical of Skarsgard (I thought he was amazing). I liked all your selections for his best hits, especially the bridge and bleacher scenes from the newer version. The way Pennywise weaponized that poor girls empathy after she made the right call was heartbreaking. And the bridge scene was how I imagined it would be from the novel…portrayed it perfectly of him under the bridge with Adrian 😱 Wahlberg strays were hilarious btw 🤣
