Hearing Avi sing lead makes me so happy. He has such a gorgeously beautiful voice. Such a talented young man. I wish he sung lead more, but no one does Bass better. Can't have it both ways I guess!!
you can tell Avi wrote this because 1. he's got the solo 2. he gave his buddy Kevin a little break 3. he decided to mess with Scott a little and give him like one note to sing for 2/3 of the song
Hey, he has the lead in the mid part and in almost every other song :P It's nice to hear Avi taking the lead, to give us a break from constant riffs and runs and to hear them all building up a group effort one by one; Scott's role remains fundamental here.
I hope so too! It's such a beautiful song! it really needs to be professionally recorded! AND OMG CAN YOU STAND IT?! an ALL ORIGINAL PTX ALBUM I AM SOOOO EXCITED!!!!
***** that being said, he does gradually drift down a semitone( listen to it at 0:37 and then listen to 0:01) but heck I definitely couldn't do that! He's amazing
It was Texas and he was having fun wearing it when he put it on at the beginning of the concert he said something like "at the concert last night they made fun of me but now we're in Texas so its good right?" they being the rest of the band. it was funny how he said it. :)
AHHH KNOWING WHAT WE KNOW NOW IM SOBBING. ITS STILL SO BEAUTIFUL AND COMFORTING AND PACKS SUCH A PUNCH. THEY HAVE (SO FAR) WON THREE GRAMMYS AND ALL HAVE BRANCHED OUT INTO SOLO WORK AND HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SO MUCH AND HELPED SO MANY PEOPLE.
wow...nothing i could say could describe how awesome this song is! :) Avi,...hungry to hear more of your songs! i hope the cowboy hat is the new you...its a beautiful thing. :) ...gonna go listen to this a few thousand more times, then share it with the planet. :) xo
Well I'm sure if he wanted to perform it by himself he would have. (he definitely isn't lacking in talent to do so) but he chose to share it with his best friends. I think with that idea behind it you could appreciate it more.
What I didn't like was that once Scott took the lead, Avi's voice became lost to me until he came back with the lead again. But that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes with fan recorded stuff sometimes. Other than that, I loved this!
Lucas Legend That's pretty much the only thing that is the same. They could change Scott's part up a bit if they don't want the same bass lines in the two songs. That's like saying Train "50 Ways To Say GoodBye" is the exact same as Phantom of the Opera, song just remixed.
I wish they were still performing this because I went to one of their concerts this year and I didn't hear this song. Was it a song they only did on this specific tour because I haven't heard a studio version or a video for this one.
***** Actually we can't call the next album PTX Vol. III yet, because it may have a different name due to contractual issues, now that they signed with RCA.
Did anyone else notice that they started in one key and ended in another? Scott was singing the "dum dum dum dum" thing half a step lower than he was at the beginning.
Well, good ear, but I think it's less than a step and it's not constant or in all parts. I think Scott has his ups and downs because of the pedal effect he is supposed to do, and because they are not machines. Kirstie is mostly harmonizing here and I don't think she's to blame particularly here. However, I agree that she may have minor pitch problems in other performances.
It was about a half step lower. The song started in D and ended in D flat. I don't think that it detracted from the performance all that much. At least the pitch fell uniformly, too.
BirdTheJunior If it started in D and ended in D flat it was indeed a half step lower, but I agree with the first thing you said: that it was "about a half step lower". Yes, if we check first and last seconds, it is Scott that fluctuates a bit, close enough to half-step lower. My original purpose was not to measure the exact Hz of the pitch loss, but to clear Kirstie that I believe she was wrongly blamed in the first place.
