This song came from their Home EP. They released this during the lockdown part of the pandemic in the spring of 2020 after their European tour was cancelled due to Covid. The songs from this EP were recorded and filmed separately by each member from their own homes. They collaborated and arranged the songs over Zoom and after they recorded and filmed their parts it was sent out to be edited and mixed. The music was very welcome. It kept many a Pentaholic sane during lockdowns.

I really enjoyed that. I kept hoping the guy singing bass would have a few lyrics but he just held it down. I have to look into their music as I haven't taken the time to do that. Great reaction!
The bass is Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable). He sings the lead in "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch," sings the third verse of "Sound Of Silence," and is absolutely spectacular in recent live feeds of "Hallelujah," where he sings the second verse ( you can find one here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M5AchCnwfj8.htmlsi=AKuwrLEEUfhvZd7h ). You want a recent live feed for two reasons: The official video was recorded with their original bass, who resigned in 2017; and Matt's range is still growing, so the more recent the better. Also, they re-recorded "O Holy Night" for their most recent Christmas album, and I believe it was because they wanted to take advantage of Matt's range, which seems to be the greatest range of anyone in Pentaonix, past or present. I love this one! PTX does live in my head often- sometimes I wake up to a song of theirs playing in my brain. It’s recently their new Kiss From a Rose cover because I was listening to it on repeat for about 3 weeks straight when it came out 🥰. I highly recommend their recent Truly Transcendent Tunes Trio: O Holy Night, Pure Imagination mashup and Kiss From a Rose.

In case you didn't know...this was recorded during Covid and each set up their own recording "studio" and worked with Ben Bram to record their parts and "pasted" it together. They put our about a dozen or more of these songs in 2020-2021. Nothing stops them from being exceptional !!!!
It is. Attention is another they did from home. Since they often record separately, that part wasn't a major problem...except for setting up their own recording studios by themselves in the middle of a pandemic lockdown, but filming themselves can't have been easy. Well...except for Kirstie who has a live-in videographer, Ben. 😊

I loved this song as it was, but sharing it with you makes it even better. They create a harmonic in the pleasure center in your brain. Listen for a tone that floats over the melody, it changes with the key. You hear it best with the really expensive headgear, the kind a professional uses to mix the sound. He can adjust slightly to bring out the harmonic that we don’t know is there with conventional equipment.
