Hell yeah. One of my best friends teaches young high schoolers experiencing poverty and always recommends your channel to his students that are interested in film photography, I just figured you might like knowing that. Both versions can take some magical exotic modified lenses, so both are a win in my book :D It's the aspect which sets P67 way above any RB67, Mamiya 7, Fuji 690 or Hasselblad.
I just took a file and a piece of wood from the garage, put a movie on and in a couple of hours I had a custom grip fitting my hand shape and position :D And yeah, 67ii prices are bonkers.
If people want the 67ii for the brighter viewfinder, there are plenty of people making custom focusing screens/ground glass for vintage cameras. Its far cheaper to get the 67 and order a custom focusing screen with 99% transparency or just buy a 67ii focusing screen for the 67
@@sneakingelephant Rick Oleson makes much brighter screens for Medium Format cameras. Relatively cheap but you will have to have an actual camera technician install the focusing screen. Search for Rick Oleson BrightScreen. highly suggest the upgrade
6:00 Your copy looks very clean, almost mint. Nice. What's your opinion of taking a risk with having a shutter that depends on batteries and electronics to operate? Personally, my own rule for buying any more analog gear is that it needs to be independent of batteries/electronics at all shutter speeds. Can the Pentax 67ii still be serviced, repaired? I just bought a Bronica S2A (fully mechanical), looking forward to using that for a while.
dear sir, i had a 67ii for 13 months, and the shutter magnet failed. luckily there is a pentax man in the UK who replaced it. this cost nearly £400, he serviced it as well. It came back feeling fantastic and has worked since. nothing to say that it won't break again of course, but can't stand the 6x7 or straight 67. like the chap in the video said, the 'modern' tech and ergonomics make this camera a delight to use. i have heard the prices on repairs have gone up again and it costs over £500 now for a similar fix. but the value of the camera has increased in this period too, so will hold it's value with the occassional repair/service.
The 67II is great but the problem is it's really expensive compared to it's relatives and because of the electronics if it breaks you are screwed because there are no parts available for it like there are for the older models. It's not known for being as reliable as the more mechanical models either. There are a lot of people that have 2500$ 67 II paperweights.
@@koby1960 of course but they don’t all have aperture priority and a bunch of circuitry to make that work. The older P67 and 6x7 just use battery to power and electro magnet that’s all. The 67II is way more complicated.
