Pentium 233 MMX Part III: Testing Random Games 

A celeron 300A, the CPU that popularized overclocking, could be almost effortlessly clocked at 450 MHz by just setting the bus speed up to 100 MHz from 66 MHz. It scored ~4500 CPU marks in 3DMark 99 max at 450 MHz as a comparison.

How about Quake 2, Unreal, Half Life, nfs 3 , Tomb Raider 2/3 ??

There are plenty of games this will run as well as they possibly could be run. A game released 1 - 5 years before this machine will probably run as well as it can, unless it has problems with the CPU being too fast. The graphics card is pretty compatible. Games like: Diablo Dungeon keeper Daggerfall, wizardry 7 Master of orion 2 Discworld 1 and 2; monkey island 2 and 3; orion burger, day of the tentacle, sam and max Warcraft 2 and probably star craft + brood war Doom 1 & 2, Hexen, Heretic, duke 3D, Alien trilogy, shadow warrior, blood, Quake, Strife, Dark forces,Rise of the triad and MDK Ultima underworld 1 and 2 and system shock; thief might run acceptably (don't bother without A3D) Carmageddon Raptor, Tyrian 2000 The later wing commander games Pinball illusions/fantasies/dreams/dreams II Fallout 1 and 2 Mech warrior 2 Screamer rally Star control 1/2/3 Descent 1 and 2, Radix, terminal velocity, Elite III Terra nova HOMM 1/2, X-com 1/2/3

Damm I still have Homeworld in its original case lol I played alot of warcraft2 and star wars x-wing vs tie fighter.

I just picked up a 233mmx. Need to open it up and see what graphics card options I have for it

I have mine overclocked paired with a Voodoo 3, overkill, but it allows me to get to use the CPU with no bottle necks. Overclocked at 266mhz with a FSB of 75mhz gives me a mark of over 1700 points in the CPU 3DMarks, still that is not nearly enough to play Half-Life.

Got a pentium mmx machine a while ago with pentium mmx 200 mhz socket 7 motherboard www.tsukumo.co.jp/20thanniversary/comparison/160304c_160701_ASUS_manual.pdf 64 mb ram 72 pin edo ram heh. matrox mystique 4 mb can be used as a direct 3d card on its own it seems. 3d monster voodoo 1 4 mb As i got it installed with windows 98 fe i found out that one of my pci too usb interface cards i had laying around was compatible with windows 98 so ofc i installed that into it after moving over the drivers too the harddrive via another old pc. creative soundblaster awe 32 atm i think as soundcard (no ram installed on the card though.) The heatsink on my cpu is tiny compared too what you got there. Its barely 1.5 cm tall without the fan & weighs almost the same as the fan that was on there. I put on a larger fan on the heatsink 70mm fan from an old pentium 4 oem system to make it a bit more quiet and it helped quite a bit with the fan dampener to slow the fan down. Mostly hdd noise from the quantum 20 gb drive i put in now. (cloned the old 4 gb drive too this via partition magician or wizard i think its called ? was some odd program like that anyway (extended the partition & got past the 8 gb hdd limit in the bios (doesn't actually detect a hdd in the bios any more but boots fine anyway lol) Going to buy another usb drive later for it too use as a second harddrive as the pci card has an internal full size usb i can make use of (currently powering an old fan in the front for that heh.) with the heatsink you put on there you can probably remove the fan entirely or run the fan at a low rpm via a fan controller or fan dampener. (Small cable with a resistor that lowers the output voltage too like 5 - 7v from the full 12v which helps quite a bit on the noise levels.)

LCD has disgusting screen and colors in compartion to CRT. I have remembered these games with nice colors, and true black, would not be able to play it like this.
