We replace a failing hard disk with an SSD and clone a Windows 10 installation using AOMEI Backupper.
Specs:
Lenovo Lenovo H405 7723-1DU
OS: Windows 10
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 645 3.10GHz
Memory: 6GB DDR3

Thanks man, looks easy enough. I like that you didn't have to go and adjust the partition sizes, you just clicked on optimize for ssd and it worked straight away.

Yes providing that total disc space used on the hdd is less than the ssd capacity.

Hi I have been using Aomei for a while 1 Hdd to a another HDD and will be cloneing to SSD next week my quesstion is did you just clone disk to disk or did you have to share and such with the system Clone Thanks Great video

I just cloned disk to disk. There was a difference in drive size so I had to shrink the original volume size first.

why didn't you hook the ssd up to the computer as secondary drive before transferrer data to it? would have been faster than usb 2

Nazareth434 Hi didn't want to fool with case twice and I have a 3.0 hard drive docking station hooked to it so it was fast and easy , only took 20 min. then installed it set boot and wiped the 1 TB and left for storage . Whole thing without getting in a rush took less then a hour .

How can I clone SSD to HDD in Aomei the SSD does not come up in clone disc to disc Thanks . I do this once a month for back up when I had just HDD's

Hi, I have created a clone of my PC hard drive (onto my 1TB external hard drive) using AOMEI, how do put that clone onto my new PC? do i need to install AOMEI onto my new PC and restore from my external hard drive?

You won't be able to use the OS disk that you booted from as a destination disk. You'd be better off removing the new PC's drive and then cloning to it using your old machine.

I would think so. As far as imaging goes it should appear as one device.

Will my recovery partition copy over and fully function if I do this?

Probably as long as you choose disk clone so that everything (even installed Linux OSes) be on the new drive (as long as the space taken up is less than the new drive capacity).

It copies cover but doesn't function right. So I just backed up my stuff and ran the recovery partition to do a reset restore and the F3 key started working again.

hay this copyes just the os and noting else on the drive yes or no ?

It copies an entire partition or disk. So it would copy any personal files and programs files along with the OS.

does the OS ask for reactivation after cloning?

The OS will not normally ask for reactivation since the clone is in the exact same state as the original OS install, so as far as Windows is concerned nothing changed. Just be sure you don't boot the original HDD in another machine.

I clone hdd 76/250gb to 0/120gb ssd, eventually received ssd 40/120gb. why?

It is not compression. -If you clone a 250 GB drive to a 1 TB drive, AOMEI Backupper will clone the 250 GB drive, and leave the rest of the 1TB drive as unallocated space. To correct the size, you'll need a program, like AOMEI Partition Assistant or MIniTool Partition Wizard (both are freeware) to adjust the HDD or SDD sizes accordingly.

As of 24 December 2019, AOMEI Backupper has changed. now to clone a drive to a larger drive and not waste space, you have to BUY the "professional" model. $45 to do a once-in-a-lifetime function. What a ripoff.

A very messy 'tutorial'. While it can be instructive to watch mistakes this tutorial shows someone flailing. Re the partitions on the Aomei clone being different, that is the chief virtue of Aomei's check box for SSD. Accordingly this shoddy 'tutorial' does not demonstrate Aomei's superiority and I wonder if the 'tutor' even read the detailed instructions.
