It's the "I don't know if I should be the one apologizing, but I'm doing it anyway" for me. It's so hard to apologize when the other owes you an apology too. There is a lot of strength in this act.

FACTS…That’s where I’m at now. I miss the people who’ve hurt me because they’re family and I love them so much. I want to call them and talk to them so badly but I refuse to apologize for their disrespectful behavior. I Would understand if I did something to deserve the disrespect but I didn’t do anything. It’s really hard to not talk to or see the people you love. I just want to be respected, valued and loved the way I do them. That can’t be too much to ask for. I guess I feel like the only way to change bad behavior is to show them you won’t tolerate it. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

brooo i really felt that I think all of us who have young parents have thought about it. I mean, I really consider myself my mother's life partner, she had me when she was young, she went through many things, and the only person who was with her at all times was me. I know I should support her. Young parents (especially moms) must learn to become adults and parents at the same time, as well as face the world. It's hard.

Saying sorry to someone is hard but it means the world to them. My dad NEVER apologizes for anything he says or does and my family sweeps everything under the rug. So when I had my own kids I make sure to apologize every time I do or say something I know is wrong. My eldest is only 6 but I’ve instilled that in him and he apologizes to me too. It’s so cathartic and healthy to apologize

I'm in the same boat, my parents have too much pride to apologise. I even said to my mum once 'you know what I learnt growing up? That parents are people too and they can be wrong. And we can't always agree.' My mum said 'exactly right' and I think that was the closest I could get to her admitting, and I'll take it 😂 (I'm 24 btw) I don't have kids but I always make mental notes on how I'd treat my own kids one day. And lemme tell you, how I wanna treat my kids is very different to how I was treated growing up haha. I have pride but I know when I fuck up and when I should say sorry. Idk why parents feel like saying sorry shows some sort of weakness or power struggle. It mends relationships but because mine never said sorry, I never feel like I want to mend broken bridges with them 🤷🏻‍♀️

I want to apologize to a girl I bullied in middle school when I was young, insecure and wanting to follow a crowd. She didn’t deserve that, especially with multiple people making fun of her. I hope she’s having a great life and I hope that dark part of her childhood has been healed from. Gail, if you happen to read this at any point in life, I’m truly sorry. You did not deserve any of that. Edit: Thank you for the kind words. Also, I wanted to say I would never make someone feel obligated to accept any apology I would give them. It’d be great if they did but that is their pain and their journey. My job is to hold myself accountable for poor actions. I hope everyone has a safe, happy and healthy 2022.

I wish people didn’t perceive apologizing as a blow to one’s pride. It’s actually a very honorable thing to do, to admit you’re wrong. I think part of the problem is an apology comes with a promise to change, and I’m not sure everyone is in a place where they’re capable of doing that. It’s also the case that too many apologies diminishes the positive effects after a while. And of course there are plenty of people out there who will see an apology as a sign of weakness which they can then exploit. Not saying apologies are a bad thing at all, but I do think there are pros and cons. Both perspectives are at least understandable.

Just gotta say, it made me want to say sorry to my mom, when i had depression back in my early 20s, i was so offended and painful with my own emotions and experiences so i guess i never had the opportunity to take care of my closest allies and keep track with their mental health. Though i steadly got help from my therapist and took prescriptions for my illness, it was quite suffering to deal with all the pressure and emotional pain that i had to lift for years and i was torned up. Because of that i became selfish and didnt pay attention to those who truely concern and support me for no reasons. So I feel very sorry that i couldnt focus on their mental safety and werent able to send them support as a son. I was partialy blind for sure. Now i feel so much better and i got full A +s with my freshman year of college. This was therapeutic on so many levels! Why do we hold on to pain, resentment and anger?!? It's much like a thorn in our fingertip. While we do everything we know to keep from touching it, or even letting others touch it; (the don't go there with me syndrome) but if we just remove it, the pain, resentment and anger miraculously fades away! Way to go peeps 👏 👍 🙌

Just watching this makes me wish my mom was sorry to me. My mom knows I’m the oldest and seeing someone mom apologize to her 15 year old daughter doesn’t even compare to my 19 years of life. I really wish my mom would see that I left her twice bc she was the problem and it’s gonna be repetitive until she says “I’m sorry “ and what she’s sorry for.

I’m sorry for cutting myself off from my eldest brother after we had a massive fallout about 11yrs ago and never apologising even though I was the one at fault. And it hurts because we used to be really close. I love you bro and I hope you forgive me someday.

I know I deserve a apology from my ex girlfriend but I'm always finding a way to apologize for things that I shouldn't be apologizing for. I hate feeling bad about stuff that I shouldnt be, but i guess that's the power of gaslighting and a manipulative ex

I'm in a similar boat as you, friend. We may never get that apology, but it will only hurt them more over time, yet time will heal us. Eventually, our behavior will change, just from growth and being in healthier relationships. I'm sorry you went through that. I still dont know what were lies and truths from my past relationship, and that's hard to wrap my head around at times. You may be feeling the same way..it sucks.

I'd call a guy. We danced together on prom when I was ~16, met each other regularly for a couple months for rehearsals. Unfortunately, I was too young and naive and I didn't see that he had a crush on me. For me, he only was a friend. There were some hints but he never clearly showed it and I was too focused on everything else to realize. Later he slowly stopped texting until he disappeared out of my life, a friend of mine told me afterwards that he had a crush on me. About a year later we me again coincidentally and he wanted to talk, but again, I was too insecure and selfish to give him the answers he would've deserved. When you're reading this, R., I'm very sorry. I hope you're happy now.

the girl apologizing to her dad just alsomt made me cry cuz I've treated my father so horrible I've lied to his face done shady stuff behind his back took advantage of him when he tries to help and I feel like I've let him down so much and yet after all that he still says he loves me and hell always help me and he just wants me to succeed in school and life and I feel like its not fair that I've done all these things to him but he still does go out of his way to make sure I'm ok that I'm comfortable I'm well fed and overall just making sure I'm ok and I hate myself for it cuz I feel like I dont deserve it cuz I've been a terrible son to him but he still shows so much respect and kindness to me that it makes me feel like a burden to him and all I've wanted was to make my dad proud and have his acknowledgment and being noticed I jsut wanna do good by him and I feel like even tho I'm 18 and still in high school I feel like there's times when i feel like I'm too far gone with me and my dad that i cant do good for him and do right by him and i feel like I'm losing him more and more every day i didn't even cal him on his birthday i literally just texted him happy birthday and i hate myself for it cz i just wanna do better for him and show that I can change and be better son to him
