The AMX-13 FL-11 in War Thunder is a French Light Tank at 3.3 battle rating. It's a great little tank but in this video, I like to rant about all the reasons I don't enjoy playing it.
The AMX-13 is a bit too wobbly compared to its counterparts. Compared to the Chad Chaffee, this tank feels like it's got jelly knees. The only real advantage is that the AMX 13 FL11 is a lower profile so it's harder to spot.
The AMX13 FL11 is a good light tank in War Thunder. Don't let my dry humour fool you. It's just a wee bit frustrating at times!

They nerfed the traction in a mundane attempt to stop people taking advantage of their garbage map design but instead only managed to further make the game an infuriating mess. But then again what do you expect from a developer that can't even spawn in tanks without you spawning in a tree, wall or up a team mates ass or if you're unlucky enough to be burdened with a single cap map facing backwards because they didnt bother to change the spawn locations to suit game modes

I WANTED it to be good, and was looking forward to getting it... but having Aced the M24 and the M24-TL (Then switched crews and aced both of them a 2nd time) I just found it to be really lackluster in comparison.

This tank was much more competitive at 3.7. They bumped it all the way up to 4.3, but the premium version with a 50 is still 3.7 for some reason. I just don't comprehend how this is now a higher BR than the M4A1. Same gun, better reload, STAB, 50 cal, better armor, better gun handling, but moderately slower and taller. This is a worse tank in nearly every single way, but it's still one of my favorites.

Call me a wierdo, but I LOVE this tank, its an M24 Chaffee with a lower profile and having the turret on the back can allow me to surprise enemy players. We all know the Chaffee is better, I'm just a weird guy in love with a weird tank.

Why you gotta say you are weird the Chaffee is not better. Every battle I play with the Chaffee there comes a r3 or something else and kills me because The chaf is big and you can see it from a kilometer away

When you wait several min for a match, then you get to drive for 15 sec and then your 9 week old son starts crying, you park your steel beast and go deal with real threat. Sometimes this takes time, and more than once I returned to find my wagon blown up...

Have the same problem. just now 2 years 6 months and wants to know everything. "Why Why, Why." Makes it hard to concentrate. Jealous of everything. Cat gets in my lap and the little girl wants to get in my lap with a book. LOL. Pause to read a book and I'm toast when I get back. My Priority No. 1 is the little girl. She is growing fast. :-)

Weirdly as a bad player this is the vehicle I get my best results with. Use its mobility to get to a good ambush position with overwatch over one or two caps. Then scout enemies for your team and snipe people after ranging distances. It is a support tank, and you have to take advantage of enemy mistakes rather than driving around like a madman in a T-34.

I just got to this yesterday and I've been really enjoying it. The bouncy gun though is very frustrating but it's a really fun tank to play in my opinion. Great video!

Hey Odd, thanks, you've gotten me into the planes in TRB.I would love if you would do a CAS tutorial for newbies like me. Like how do you control your plane while looking around? I only have the freelook button set up, and I look around with my mouse, which is the same way I control my flight.

You are right though, chaffees are very good. It trades survivability for a smoke launcher, scouting, and speed so if you play perfectly and don't get hit, it is basically better than the Sherman. The Sherman is still very good though.

I thought it would be cool to see the ARL-44 and the S.O.8000 Narval because I never see anyone play these two. I like that the Narval has 6x MG 151s and a pretty good top speed. The ARL-44 is interesting because its a heavy that's in the tank destroyer tree. It also has an effective 90mm with a lot of shrapnel on its solid shot and 212mm at 100 meters at zero degrees.

I find this tank to be good. Better survivability then the M24, this is my go to when doing rank III tasks combined with the M4 and the ARL. Dealing with a KV1 head on, always trap shot or turrent ring, i find that most times being a one shot. But with this light tank the speed is your friend, so go around the side and take heavy's out. Also in a hull down peek a boo or flanking, or just holding w down this tank is fun to play.

I really like this little guy. Have had a lot of fun with it. Phly recently said that longer reload can be a good thing. You get to know the vehicle better and respect every round a bit more. But the bouncy suspension is quite terrible.

How did you control your plane so well while you were in the turret? Mine refuses to leave its last heading like when you fly with freelook and you didn't look far enough to the side or behind you

HOHOOoooo ! Sure I love this vid Odd ! Thank you 😍! Sure you hate it so much but this is not the worst vehicle at all. It demands much more practice than the M24 which has a 50. cal and a stab etc... Next time, I'll try to recommand you a much nicer vehicle. Try the STB-1 for instance ! By the way, I'm that guy that commented every day to say that I love this vehicle so much (and the M.B. 157 that I play with it) and that Odd needed to play it hehe. Don't know if I can put a video link but i would like to show you the max I can do with it 😍

This is one of my favorite tanks I always do great when playing this vehicle. I'm up to tier v in 6 nations and this is in my top ten favorite tanks. The m24 amx is great to but the fl11 us way better.

I normally do pretty good in the AMX-13 FL11, but the autoloader version of the AMX-13 is so good imo. I love bullying tiger 2's with it.

Historically accurate. This tank served in the IDF in the fifties and the soldiers who had to use it, gave much the same complaints. Eventually it was pulled out of service.

Velocity for SA39 is 600-610 m/s , Chaffee has 619 m/s how is the velocity that much different...

This tank does have a bad reload speed compared to the Chaffee (prolly Warthunders way to compensate for two crew n the turret not three), but I think they upgraded its APHE round because I have gotten numerous one shots with this thing by shooting the turret.

Loved the AMX-13. Chafee was more fun but the AMX was great. HATED that fighter thou. Would be decent if it simply had more ammo. The dive bomber is just too much fun for words XD

FWIW, I'm not colorblind and still struggle to see shit in this game with all the haze... In ARB airplanes have a black dot/outline thing (unless you zoom in it disappears) that makes them much easier to pick out at distance or in the clouds. But it seems to be missing in GRB.

Challenge!!! Take out any tank you want but only load smoke 35 shells minimum and take every shot that’s present. He’ll shoot up the place even without targets. Fill the battlefield with smoke basically but try to get a few kills none the Less.

The AMX 13 was originally developed an air-portable vehicle to support paratroopers, so it was never really designed to go toe to toe with anything like a real tank. You would be better off with the model they fitted Chaffe turrets to.

When you were talking about how much you disliked this tank in your intro, I thought to myself "I don't remember it being THAT bad". Then I went and looked at my stats in it... maybe Odd is onto something. LMAO. I think the AMX-13 was one of those vehicles I spaded and never looked back at it. France has far better vehicles in the tree.

Jim, I honestly can’t stand it’s gun handling. It makes me annoyed just driving in it. The whole time I’m playing it, I’m just like “I miss my Chaffee.” It’s like ordering something different from your favourite restaurant then you hate it so you just spend the entire hour at the table envious of what everyone else got. AMX-13 is being fed to my dog.

@@OddBawZ Meanwhile, at top tier, it's Russian guns that bother me. Whenever an enemy pops up, it takes the gunner forever to realize I've moved my mouse and I want him to raise the gun. It's like he's asleep at the switch. Top tier Russian tankers need to take little blue pill so they can get their gun up in time.

Do consider that it didn't have the APHE when you first spaded it (at least most likely, considering I did so, and I think you'll generally get that done quicker). At least I'm pretty sure it started out without the APHE.
