Should have seen Copsi on twitch a couple of days ago. He was getting nuke after nuke after nuke. It was crazy the number of nukes he was getting while driving that PT 76 54 for the most part. He was doing this on a stream mind you. It was almost like every other game he played he got a nuke. I never thought nukes could be so easy for a person to get.
Ok so the M-51 was originally surplus Sherman tanks given to France after WWII. They took the short 76mm low velocity guns off the tanks. They installed the high velocity 76mm gun on the M-50 Sherman tanks and the 105mm gun on the M-51’s. The guns were much bigger than the original turret. To fix the issue the literally cut both the old gun and the back of the turret off the tank. They welded an extension to the back and the new gun mount to the front. From France these tanks were sold and put in a lend/lease program with French Allie’s. Some of these tank had even seen combat action in Libya.

Both the short barreled gun originally on the M4's and the French AT gun that replaced it were 75mm guns. The 76mm guns used by M4's during the wars(WWII/Korea) were AT guns
there's a weird AI mapping issue I've encountered where the AI that drive in the loop behind your tank can't figure out how to take corners or drive around an obstacle added to the Christmas hangar to the rear left of your tank in the hangar. It's very annoying hearing their struggling engine sounds lol
what i love about the free m51 is that since it’s the “starter vehicle” for israel it has 3 respawns at all times. i got a 6 kill game on the port map and somehow the enemy a panther and an ELC were so blind that they didn’t see this massive sherman right behind them.
I find it is easier to get nukes when you are in a tank that isn't great at one shotting enemies. When you one shot everyone you only get the SP for the kill - but when it takes 2-3 shots to get the kill you get SP for each hit and then the kill as well.
yes. the other day i got my first nuke by basically sucking at the game. took me forever to kill things. i uploaded the replay so if for some reason you want to waste 15 minutes of your life you can watch it

I've been playing this vehicle on Sim this evening and I can say it's naughty. It gets into the mid WW2 event so the toughest things it faces are Tigers and Panther Ds with the likes of Nashorn and Jagdpanzer 4 IV70s also being dangerous to it but honestly, any map where you can get some space, you've got the upper hand. The HEAT round may not be good for 1 shotting things but it often does anyway. Even when it doesn't, it usually damages enough to components to give me a 2nd shot. Tigers and Panthers that can still move angle towards me and I cleave red hot molten holes through them. Averaging 100,000 Silver + per game with it. Best of all, gaijin gives you 2 spawns in sim with it up front so whilst it's a medium and you'd normally get 3 spawns with a medium lineup, they're at least not leaving you hanging with 1 life per game and thus leaving your team high and dry. Honestly don't know if it'll still be in this event when the rest of the Israelis come but for now I'm going to exploit the fact that it is.... Hard.
Don't, it will be nerfed as it use a french gun and shell, the Mirage and this shell never performed that well ever in this game since the update came out as usually France is for masochists only, the buff won't last
I wouldn't for now. I expect the shell will maybe get buff. I don't want to put anyone off getting it if they're REALLY wanting to play it. It's good enough but not worth $40 imo.
i find it more funny that the vehicles that drive around in the hangar are freaking out because of the new stuff in there, so they start driving anywhere BUT the road lol. i got a BMP that was driving on top of my tank and then it just fazed through the ground AND me, resulting in the game crashing. btw, glad to be on the discord now too! best couple of hours i had in a long time i had yesterday haha!
that thing is likely to go up 6.7, it's inconsistent yeah, welcome to the french superior technology club, AMX 30s have the same issues, just a bit better mobility, that's it
Ppl saying that M-51 is OP on 6.0 are just blatantly clueless. We already had a sherman based powerfull gun on 6.7 (i think it started on 6.7) on the M36B1, that's faster (9 tons lighter with 10HP less), has more variety of shells (M82 and heat with 305mm of pen) and actuall 50cal on top to defend yourself from light spaa. Long story short playerbase did so well with it it's a 5.7 vehicle now kek. Great vid Odd!
Pretty good tank, although it takes 1-3 shots to kill something. That gives you quite a bit SP though, that's why you can get a nuke. Score 3 crits then kill = a ton of SP > just a kill
the M-51 is used to destroy enemy positions in buildings They just added a HEAT shell in case they see an enemy tank Gaijin cannot differentiate howtizers from tanks
@@DD-hz3ts yes it was! If I like something and the price is right I will consider purchasing but until there is a ground lineup to take it out it I cant be bothered with it. I get what gaijin does releasing prems first and than the full tech tree but still bugs me a little but nothing I can change haha
I recently moved and now i live with shitty internet. I really was enjoying warthunder and i would have LOVED to play this. I guess i will have to play vicariously through you Odd. Kick ass dude!
When i had to bad internet to play War Thunder i switched to 'War Commander Rogue Assault', it's a mobile game. Maybe you can try that to atleast have something to do
I see a lot of people comparing this to the AMX-30 since it’s the same barrel and Ammo. But... the AMX-30 Heat is good because it has 10x the amount of explosives this has 😂
The tank itself isn't special, I mean, it isn't OP or anything, - as a lot of people would say - but the current effects it has on the br. are quite dreadful. Considering its current popularity, it completely removes the little armour-meta in the 5.0-7.0 br. range, so there is no point in playing heavy tanks right now, - wait a few weeks, the hype will decrease eventually - even if it doesn't knock you out with a single hit, it's going to penetrate every single time. My personal experience is quite bad, I mostly play with the Panther, and when the - average - percentage of enemy tanks I usually face which can penetrate me from the front without aiming goes up from 30% to 80%, it tends to wake up my "wehraboo instincts" about "historical accuracy" and "why does Germany have to suffer from a newly added Cold War tank over and over again...".
Imo increasing the br of the m51 is pointless the tank will still perform the same. It’s armor doesn’t help the tank and also that heat round looks like it’s op but if you use that in game it isn’t that good because it’s post pen is pretty bad and it makes you shoot some tanks 3-4 times to destroy them. For example, 400 pen sounds like it’s op but that HEAT round is really bad.

I have this tank in my line up and totally agree about it being inconsistent....400mm of pen and sometimes I can't even pen a boiled egg...it's slow and not the best armour...also it's reload time is crazy.
I hit a bomber with t-34-57 HE shell once, shell exploded and he survived and returned to his AF, so I wouldn't blame that m19. 14:21 also you survived because of the ghost shell, lol

@@noahthegod2391 its just a worse m36b1. M36 has a .50. A HEATFS shell that can pen a tiger 2 UFP. Is faster/lighter. And a APHE with respectable pen for flanking and killing weaker enemies. All while being .3 BR lower.
Well 400mm pen at 6.0 completely rips through every German cat , on the other side it has no OP stabilizer and is still only a Tommy Cocker . Every Pz4 or even a Puma will kill this tank from the front , I don't know if this tank should get any higher . Maybe 6.7 max , there's the PT76-57 way more OP .
I'm going to be honest odd for a minute I was so happy. I thought finally take the best medium tank in the game and give it a good cannon. But it for Isreal!! For a sec I thought I could have a chance at full uptiers
It isn’t better than a 76mm jumbo tho? It’s not even that good. It’s actually less effective than a 76mm Regular Sherman against 95% of the targets you face.
@@SilentButDudley but this can pen tiger 2 and panthers front plate from any distance but still sucks because of after pen damage, I'd be fine if they just gave it a decent ap shell
I don't fear this tank... In my opinion a Comet I or a Challenger is a much bigger threat. Those tanks are faster and their guns are easier to aim and their reload is a lot quicker... And also they do pretty much the same damage that the 105mm HEAT shell from the M-51 is capable of doing. The M-51 has only the penetration going for it... Everything else is an standard M4 Sherman that lacks an stabilizer and it is much slower. This tank shouldn't be a threat if you know how to use the Tiger I.
I'm just trying to benchmark the tank on my own performance and give my opinion with stats. Some people are 8 K/D even with bad tanks and some people die more times than they get frags. I don't know any other way to judge it fairly to my self.
