This short film demonstrates several forms of pepeha and some issues to consider. Here I share a few things I've learned along the way while researching pepeha. It can be difficult to navigate appropriate things to say and in what order they should be said. I made this film to help fill some gaps in knowledge that my friends and I have struggled with.
There are plenty of great books out there on this subject, including one that my friend Te Pō and I co-created; Pepeha with Kākā Bird.
I also strongly recommend Alison Jones' recent book This Pakeha Life, an unsettled memoir. You can hear some of her views here: www.rnz.co.nz/...
