I remember recording this whole episode onto VHS when it first aired on Much Music back in the day when they still played metal vids. It was a really good episode and I still have the tape somewhere. Phil was definitely stoned out of his mind but he wasn't a belligerent asshole like in other televised interviews around this time period. Seemed rather mellow in fact.
lol! He almost said- We're takin" over this town.- though! hehe-- And he didn't want to recognize he took most of his stage persona from Henry Rollins, after Pepper called it! EVERYONE TAKES from somewhere!!!
same here man :) I owe Phil a lot, for the bands I know thanks to him and the other guys in Down in particular. All their main bands like Crowbar, their "secondary" bands like Clearlight, and all their band members' other bands, like Soilent Green, and from that it goes to Goatwhore and back to Acid Bath after that... it's really quite amazing how much music one can get to know just from gettin' to know the people in your favorite bands and checkin! out their other projects
In the last few years he hardly seems "burned." He is intelligent, well spoken, and quite humorous at times. Check out his interview with Anvil this summer. Proof he is quite with it.
Great interview. Does anyone know where I can find the down interview with rex and Andy Sheridan? Trying to find more video of Andrew Sheridan as he was such an influence to phil during Downs early days. Anyone?
@wht93civic Thanks man. Cant wait for the new disc ^^ hope its more Nola than anything else. Maybe lil bit less depressive, but groove- and screamwise :)
1. phil is always dicked off 2. phil is always dicked off phil is god and does whatever he wants whenever. down has it off so well the play the small clubs and give the performance of some fancy ass show, sounding amazing and lights are amazing and they can afford to take that 2 3 hr set to go their music to the ears the ways it should be and without saying we got 20 minutes left or what the fuck ever music shouldnt be rushed for it is art too.
@AnselmoFanZero yeah, not all, but most of my bands i listen to i know by him (shirts etc), or Pantera, or Eyehategod ;D its my musical way to find most of bands ;] One of my best inspiration. I think its good thing to wear shirts with bands you like, cause peapole could find some good music by it!
He seemed to be burned out. Cant wait for Down IV. Will wipe out all the stupid comments bout being old burned out and wasted. He is back...get used to it.
Wow I used to love watching Loud because it was the only thing good on Much Music. Too bad these music stations are even worse now than they were in the '90s.
Dude xD still WAY better than Jonas Brothers, Tokio Hotel, Britney, Madonna (played New Level on guitar recently!!) and what not...you do agree on that right??? Right??
