I have been using a matrixyl 3000 serum from No. 7 for about 10 or 15 years, it's effective for me. It's the Perfect and Protect Intense Advanced Serum. No one ever talks about No. 7 but it's very effective at smoothing texture around my mouth and chin. It also contains hyaluronic acid and vitamins A, C & E.

Agree! The perfect and protect was on the news years ago saying research results showed it was the closest thing to RetinA ..and actually WORKED. There were lines for blocks outside the Boots store in London to get it! I got one but paid 4 times the cost🤪🙄.. used it for a long time.. but then my storestopped carrying it so I switched to the retin A from my doctor-because it was so good, I had no trouble with the prescription!. Loved the No7 products in general. They have a tremendous amount of research in their products and not a lot of fluff trendy stuff. Their new Future Renew is really exciting.. which I just ordered!

That would be interesting since not all derms agree about peptides as far as whether or not they do what the studies say they do or even question the studies since most are done by the brand touting the particular peptide. Though most agree that they are at least humectants.

I know you didn't ask me- but I figured I'd tell you what I know. She rarely responds to comments in my experience lol. For the most part studies on peptides are manufacturer studies. Which, if you're not familiar, basically means they are studies conducted by the manufacturers of those specific peptides/ingredients. So their results should typically be taken with a grain of salt. Manufacturer studies aren't as randomized or as controlled as clinical trials (which are properly controlled, have large sample sizes, are double blind, independently conducted, etc.). Long story short, it's hard to trust manufacturer studies because they will find a specific "finding" in the study and run with it. For example: with peptides, their studies showed an improvement in wrinkles. Which is great. However; were wrinkles reduced because of collagen improvement OR is it because they hydrated the skin (peptides are great at holding onto water)? Hyaluronic acid can also reduce wrinkles via hydration. So- this is just one example of how a manufacturer study works. They will find some improvements with their studies and focus only on those instead of looking at the bigger picture. Copper peptides on the other hand are very well studied and a key part of my anti-aging products. So, stick with copper peptides if you want true anti-aging benefits. My favorite is The Ordinary Multi Peptide +1% Copper Peptide. Not only does it include copper peptides, it also includes a wide range of other peptide complexes mentioned in this video. So it's an all-in-one peptide product. It's AMAZING.

Is there a specific reason you have confidence in peptides? Because I've been under the impression that most of the studies on peptides (except copper peptides- which have a lot of studies backing them) have been manufacturer studies. So are they really signaling for collagen and things like that in your opinion? Also, curious of your opinion on this manufacturer studies only thing. I know peptides are also great humectants and I think I've heard people say that some of the benefits seen from peptides comes from their ability to plump and hydrate the skin. Just curious what you think. I love The Ordinary Copper Peptides 1% because not only does it contain 1% copper peptides, it also contains many other peptide complexes. So the copper is doing some anti aging and the others are there as a "just in case". So at least I know I'm getting all of them.

Matrixyl and other peptides can be used with all other active ingredients (vitamin C, retinol). Copper peptides are an active ingredient so no typically do not mix actives and use at the same time of day: acids, retnoids, vitamin c. I alternate my morning routine to incorporate copper peptides: one day vitamin c, Coq10, peptide moisturizer and next morning copper peptide, matrixyl, moisturizer.

@@roxannesimpson5635 depends on what your skin concerns are. There are a ton of affordable vit C serums although none of them did anything for me. I love peptides and glycolic acid. I also do a glycolic acid peel once a week. Acure has a peptide moisturizer that is very inexpensive. As the derm stated above The Ordinary and The Inkey List have peptide serums. I truly believe there are too many skincare lines and we are all bombarded with the next best thing as far as trendy ingredients. If your skin can tolerate it chose a good retinol. Avene has a good one but it’s expensive. I don’t do retinols. Did nothing for my skin but irritate it.

Generallly, want active ingredient (vitamin c, retinal) as 1st ingredient you apply. However, if active is a cream (I use tretnoin from Curology and it's a cream), apply serums 1st then creams. So yes, thinnest to thickest, unless your active is also a serum (ie Timeless Vitamin C serum), then apply active 1st, then your other serums and creams.

@nancyhillard6456 I feel the same way, Nancy! It really is so confusing! There are disagreements on what's best to use, what to combine & not combine, & then such a price difference on what is available!! Pricey isn't always better. Sometimes it is. Oftentimes, I just feel like I need to have a derm look at my face, do a full body check, & then based on THEIR professional opinion, offer me a list of more budget friendly products of what I need, & a list of higher end products for me, if I choose to use any of them. Then I can choose, but at least I'll have a good professional direction to go in! I think that would solve a lot of issues & questions, for me, because I want to do the best for my skin! Have a great weekend, Nancy 😊! Although, I get frustrated, I feel good knowing that I am not the only one who struggles with this whole process 😅❤😁!😮

I've watched and enjoyed several of your videos, and would like to request that you provide (whenever possible) actual percentages/amounts of the star ingredient in the various products you recommend. You said in a different video that the Avene Bakuchiol serum has 1.5% Bakuchiol, but you didn't mention how much is in the other products in the video. Also, I would love to know which peptides, etc are in the products. Sometimes a product might have less of the star ingredient, and yet be a better product. I know this probably requires more research, however, the info would go a long way in helping your viewers choose the product that might best serve their needs. I've looked up products myself, but maybe a professional would be more successful in finding the info. Thank you for all the work you do!

Gold Bond has a retinol body lotion chock full of great ingredients (peptides, retinol, squalene, glycerin, etc etc). They also have a vitamin C body lotion. They're very affordable too.

The one derm I've seen talk about zo skincare is dr. ania marie, md. She tends to like luxury skincare products in general.

I have to say the best video explaining peptides in a way I could understand is this one...she uses things I can relate to: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tilL8IJqIMI.htmlsi=5phORPEDStNVHNHX . So if you are not a science nerd, this one may help.
