Every time this train runs through going from Owasso to Ashley if the wind is blowing just right especially at night when there’s no other sounds I can hear her whistle blowing. It is the most amazing sound. I’ve been obsessed with this train since I was a kid it’s good to see people taking care of it.
This is perfect and great, Pere Marquette #1225 was my favorite berkshire engine, and if many people say the whistle of the polar express is really sierra railway 3 because one reason robert loved very much the trilogy of back to the future and obviously there are references in the movie and even in the disney movie BFG the whistle of the polar express appeared ( whistle of sierra railway 3), greetings from mexico.
The Pere Marquette 1225 is my most favorite steam locomotive and it will always be my favorite steam locomotive until the end of time 😁😁😁😃😃 I’m also so happy that the Pere Marquette 1225 is back on her wheels for so long 🥲🥲🥲
@@adventuresofamtrakcascades301 I don’t think the Polar Express would have existed, there would be a good 50/50 if the PE would still exist if the PM was scrapped that long ago 😬😬
Andrew Raila ‘Bammers had one epic Christmas special where he discussed the origin and careers of the PM Berkshires in depth, 1225’s return to the rails and rise to fame with the Polar Express, and while keeping with the typical “Engines of” format inspired by AmtrakGuy365. His video also had one incredible mega outro using an epic epilogue, then a segment with grand Christmas music over Trainz shots of 1225 with Polar Express coaches on the only routes he had, then followed with him finishing the outro with a Merry Christmas and Thanks for watch g message while drinking hot Coco out of a Polar Express Hot Coco cup at night, and finally a credits role with Polar Express music, followed by a RIP to a Polar Express cast member, and finally with the biblical verse for the birth of Jesus.
A great Berkshire! Especially when it runs the Polar Express since it's known as the Christmas Day Berkshire. I love it! This inspired me the idea for 2-8-4 slip streamers I call Staffordshires.
One book you should read is "Twelve Twenty-Five: The Life and Times of a Steam Locomotive" by Kevin P. Keefe of Trains Magazine, who was a one-time president of the Michigan State Railroad Club.
Aside from the fact that you got some details in regards to the 1991 NRHS convention wrong, like saying the 1218 was in Huntington when in fact the big A never once left NS rails during the convention, and put up some clips from said convention that didn’t really match up with the occurrences you were talking about once or twice, this is a wonderfully well done and well researched video. Overall, a job well done.
Yeah there were a lot of details that I missed that I plan to remaster for 2025. Thanks for pointing them out! If you ever want to help me with the script editing or writing, my discord server is always open.
@@TrainGuru I might just take you up on that. And I look forward to seeing a remake of this video. Said remake will probably be of an even higher quality then this video, which is already pretty high quality.
That’s my goal for 4449 as well as 1225; to try and get these documentaries as close to perfect as possible. In regards to my Discord server, the server also is more than just help for SLP. We also share pictures, have voice chats, play games every once in a while, etc. Feel free to join if you want.
What steam locomotive profile will you do next I have planed to do my own series but I will tackle that in the future The 2-8-4 wheel arrangement is called the Berkshire type and I don't know who named it
You said 1225 has a 5 Chime. I have reason to believe that you are incorrect and I believe it is in fact a Nathan 6 Chime. First of all, even though it sounds like a 5 Chime, it has a more raspy sound akin to a 6 chime. 2nd, It can be confirmed by sister berk 1223 that they indeed had 6 chimes using the only video of 1223s whistle being blown.
@@TrainGuru I personally believe 1225 does have two whistles but I think they both are 6 chimes. It all depends on the material of the whistle and pressure going through. 1225s original whistle which I believe it has now is most likely made out of steel. The one it wore up until I believe 2008 or 9 was made of brass.
@@OzzmanStudios I also believe that 1225 has a Nathan 6 Chime. The FWRHS, owners of 765, have said that the 765 has always had a Nathan 6 Chime (usually the one from 700) as her primary whistle. However, the whistles don't all sound the same. However, from 1979-1983 and from 2009-2011, 765's Nathan sounded almost identical to how 1225's whistle sounds today and in 2003-2008 respectively. Edit: I've heard that steam deflectors and the position of the whistle inside the deflector can also effect the sound of a whistle.
Early in the video you refer to PM 1225 as being hand fired. This can't be correct; it would have a mechanical stoker. Also, I believe the word "Pere" is correctly pronounced "pair"; it means "father" in French/
Oh... I never knew that. Thanks for catching that! At some point, I will remaster my Southern Pacific 4449 and Pere Marquette 1225 SLP documentaries. Thanks for catching my error though!
@@TrainGuru If the mechanical stoker was disabled for any reason, creating the need to hand fire, the Pere Marquette Berks required the assignment of two firemen. Also, the rails used were not those of the "Tuscaloosa" and Saginaw Bay, but rather the Tuscola (a very descriptive combination of two native American words meaning "flat land") and Saginaw Bay. However, small errors aside, this is an excellent documentary. Enjoyed it very much.
@2:55 Did I hear you correctly when you said that 1225 is a "hand fired locomotive" ? Umm pretty sure she was constructed well after the FRA mandated that all locomotive of a certain size be fitted with stokers.... not to mention that her firebox grate size would be a pain in the ass to firebomb when trying to climb any kind of hill.
Man ! Where else in this County can you find former main line Steam operating on it's own former line? O.K. UP perhaps? Yeah, but that's pretty much once a year, (currently), thing, and oh God ! I wouldn't want to be a traffic manager for those runs. Second, TVRM with 4501 / 630 to Summerville, (are they STILL running those trips?), And that's all I can think of at this point. At any rate, open up your wallets to keep her in operation, (despite, and from what I've heard, that the GLC is becoming increasingly "pissed-off" with her operation over their rails...and who knows what comes next. Any info. on this point would be greatly appreciated.
