What's the best camera backpack for hiking? In this video I give you my preference. I show you how much the NYA-EVO Fjord 60-C can pack and explain why I think it is the perfect pack for longer hikes where I also have to bring sleeping bag, sleeping mat and tent.

Saw this on Nya-Evo IG and I must say, there are videos lacking for backpacking using this type of bags. I own a similar bag (Wandrd Fernweh) and it really does go heavy if you really maximize the huge spaces and put in a lot of gear. It would be helpful if you have someone to share the weight though. Can't wait for your follow up videos!

Hi Michael - very nice review and it looks like a very good pack!

Nice bag and explainations, Michael. Weight and size is never a big deal as long as you are on a flat terrain. When it goes up hill, it's another story, each g becomes kg...😂

That's why I want to try the Fjord pack. The Kajka I used before weighs 1kg more than the Fjord because the Kajka is made for longer hikes even. So that's why I will now try how it is to trade a bit of comfort on the shoulders against 1kg of weight. I certainly gain a lot when it comes to the photography part of things ;-)

Hello Michael. I would like to use this backpack for wildlife photography. But I read that the fabric is. To noisy for this practice. What do you think a bout this ? Thanks for All your vidéo ! Christian
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo Год назад
I'd say the fabric is similar to other backpacks in terms of noise. It's very robust and thick and if you brush it or rummage around in the backpack, it makes a sound. But I don't know which pack wouldn't ;-) As a disclaimer: I'm no wildlife photographer and I don't know how much noise a "silent" backpack would produce. But I can't say that the F-Stop packs I had before were any more silent - as an example

So I am not the only one thats likes to put a base layer under bag before setting down. As you say, good for when wet conditions or sandy beach. . What pouch are you using for your water bottle ? Thanks for showing it's capabilities.

I usually put the Raincover on my bags when i have to throw them in sand. Here i needed the cover more for unpacking 😀

hallo Michael,danke für das informative Video-wie ist die Atmungsaktivität des Rückenteils?
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 3 года назад

thanks for these great 2 videos about the Fjord 60-C... my sleeping bag and mat are smaller than yours but, do you think there´ll be space for a Jet boil cooking system and some food?? Thank you for helping, Alvaro
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 3 года назад
Hi, there is definitely space left for food. Up where I had put the 1kg weight, I could fit a box of food. I usually only bring prepared food on my overnight trips, so I don't own a Jet-Boil. I have to check it's size. I guess it should fit, if only a small gas cartridge is used. Also, it depends on the amount of camera gear you bring. Currently I have the medium ICU, which for a hiking trip in the alps I would not completely fill, because I'd likely leave the filters. So I might even get away with a small ICU for such trips and then I'd definitely have enough space in the top of the bag. If you can tell me the measurements of your Jet boil I can have a look, maybe find something of similar size and do a packing test.

@@mibreit-photo thx for you fast reply, it´s like a Nalgene I think, gas catridge going into the JB, so there is no extra space needed for it... Regards from Chile

@@rockalvaro I have neither a Nalgene nor a Jetboil ;-) Can you give me its measurements. then I can just make something from cardboard to check

@@mibreit-photo hahahaha, my SUMO Jetboil is 125 x 210 mm. Big thanks! Alvaro
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 3 года назад
@@rockalvaro I did some measurements -> it will fit. In my video you see I have my rain jacket inside the main pocket at the top. For you I would rather try to stuff all clothes into the rollable top compartment (should usually work) which frees up more space for food and your jetboil in the main pocket. If this is sufficient for you I cannot say. For me it will be plenty ;-)

nice backpack. how do you find the rf 70-200 f/4 on the r5?
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 3 года назад
I still use the 70-200 EF from 10 years ago ;-) I'd love to get the rf version because of it's size, but it's still too expensive.

How much load do you carry when doing Multiday hikes?
@mibreit-photo
@mibreit-photo 3 года назад
It's usually only 1-2 nichts and I carry around 18kg. But with this pack I might be able to loose one kg. The kajka I was using before weighed 1 kg more, pack alone
