Perfect Dark: Actual Gameplay Finally Revealed - So What Do We Think? 

Eventhough I don't know much about the technical side of game engines, but i do agree it's heartbreaking. I remember when Commnad & Conquer: Generals 2 was first announced they decided to use the Frostbite Engine rather then the SAGE Engine, it's quite jarring at the time bcs Frostbite wasn't built for RTS games or even Racing Games. Due to lack of modules, and etc.

I have hopes Remedy won’t - they seem to be investing heavily in it, and have even started talking more about it. Alan Wake 2 was also a major success for them.

@@nolramtheyre also remaking Max Payne in Northlight, i do understand concerns from an educational perspective i like learning how developers handle these different problems in their titles

I love RedEngine so much. I hope CDPR manages to transfer all their signature mechanics and development style into UE5

I mean, I know it sounds crazy, but we could have great gameplay AND attractive female characters who don't have a masculine jawline. Believe it or not, it wasn't so long ago we had both.

@@LethalMartialArtistyes she does, the image everyone keeps using is from a low angle that looks unflattering on most people. especially with a neutral expression. If you look at the actual actress and compare the proportions by drawing guidelines you’ll see that it’s just due to the angle and she actually looks super close to the person she’s modeled after. The actress herself just has a defined jawline and chin dimple.

i guess it depends on the definition of 'incredible' and each person has their own definition of it. To me this looks dated, and the fact that this has been going on since 2018, and looks a bit...suss in terms of the what was shown in the reveal trailer suggests this is a bit of a smoke and mirror with stock ue5 work. I have a feeling this is going to get cancelled/shutdown.

Realistically, would you say there’s even a Perfeck Dark fanbase anymore? If that’s the only fanbase they’re catering to, the game would be a guaranteed flop commercially. It’s never been a huge audience even back then.

@@ilbroducciore not a bad point. But there must have been huge fans back then. It was the first thing in media I remember looking forward to. I use to go online to look up any info about it. A sequel to Goldeneye? Even if it wasn’t really. Anything close to that legendary game was the most exciting thing to me. I couldn’t have been the only one. The game was legendary. The farsight weapon, etc. I feel like it was the start of true hype. At least for me. And the product delivered.

@@Ray-dl5mp oh don’t get me wrong, I was a HUGE fan back then. I put hundreds of hours into it as a teenager. I was that one guy who bugged all my friends to try it out telling them it was so much better than GoldenEye, who could actually find some use to every gun’s secondary function in multiplayer, who had 3 stars for all of them in the shooting range, who would actually care about the story snippets about the Mayans and Skedars. This game absolutely made my life back then - it was so influential to me that I seriously considered pursuing a game dev career so I could join a company like Rare. I also told myself I would play the hell out of the Xbox remake, as well as PD Zero. I never did. And that’s the thing with hobbies like gaming: people get older and move on. IPs still hold value, but only so much as companies are willing to invest in them, and they need to keep things fresh for newcomers. I’m still a Perfect Dark fan, but I’m much more of a fan of the original game and the original people who made it than the IP itself. While I’m intrigued by this revival, I’m sure it’s never going to be what that one was to me as a teenager. So there’s no point in wishing for the devs of this one to have *me* in mind as the target audience if they actually want to have a successful game.

​@@ilbroducciore im a pretty big fan of it, the mission objectives based off of difficulty is cool and the multiplayer is an improved version of goldeneyes. in other words its got the best splitscreen vs gameplay ive ever played. i didnt grow up with the game either its not nostalgia, i picked up the 360 remaster a few years back and its a classic in my eyes especially with how easy it is to customize the multi experience. this new game however will have NO MULTIPLAYER which is pretty upsetting for me. i love deus ex and im sure this will kind of scratch that itch for me considering we arent going to be getting a new one anytime soon but using the name perfect dark makes no sense.

Immersive Sim is a genre, think Prey (2017), System Shock, Deus Ex, Dishonored. Usually games that give you a task, very little guidance, and a growing set of tools you can use to complete your task however you see fit.

@@Aki_Lesbrinco I mean, yeah, that's an E3 level type of showcase piece. Not sure what else to tell you, nothing out of the ordinary. Then again, it was super cutted to fit into a short gameplay reel. If it had extra time or had its own Deep Dive like Avowed we might had seen more, but that's probably not going to be the case in a few years sadly. But good to know they finally got a direction than being aimless for years.
