If you’re gonna do this with a seven string i recommend just doing drop F and the lowering the low F to a D# So its gonna be D# C F A# D# G C Just for tuning stability
Jay Petrini come on bro, they got ten strings now! Lowest string is like a .120 tuned to G#, I'd drop that bitch to F#, an octave down from standard 8 strings. I'm only joking. I have an eight, and that's enough strings lol
Jonny Lawless I’ve got one too and I feel the same, and I was talking about drop e on a 7 lol. The lowest ive dropped my 7 to is g, and the lowest on my 8 to d
Jay Petrini drop e on a seven isn't too bad, I had an agile interceptor with like a 30 inch scale, seven string. It was retarded long but I could drop to E without having to use super heavy strings. I think I had a .074 in the seventh. On my 8 though, I switch between F natural and C# for the 8th string. Got an .85 in it, and it's a 29.4 inch scale so it helps, plus I like a little jangle in my strings.
riley xdmsk I'd do an 85 or a 90 in your seventh. If you go to stringjoys website they will give you a recommendation on what strings to use for that tuning. My guess though would be like 12-16-20-36-48-60-85 for drop e or I would use 12-16-21w-40-50-64-90 for drop D# but that's just me. The guys at stringjoy will definitely help you out though and you can make a custom set.
The reason why I would use an 8 string guitar for this tuning because the strings on a 7 string guitar are going to feel really loose and wobbly. But this tuning on an 8 string guitar is perfect because the strings are going to have good tension and plus it’s A# Standard on a 7 string guitar with a low D# string.
So what I really meant to say was: The reason why I will not use this tuning on a 7 string guitar because you will lose a lot of high range. When it comes to guitar tunings for me at least I want a combination of both low and high range. This tuning on an 8 string guitar is perfect because it has both Low and High range.
Came here to say all the crybabies in this comment section saying to just use an 8, nah, just use thicker gauge strings and a good drop pedal to transpose starting from F. Don't be a scaredy cat, if you believe you can achieve lol
