I like getting an over hook and getting my foot to the outside before he pinches his knees together when defending a single leg. Then I work on his grip by grabbing his left wrist, ripping up with my under hook, while kick out and getting my foot to the mat.
Thanks Coach! I’m very confident in my single but one thing that stops me from my potential is my head placement. Thank you so much coach. This one adjustment will help my performance drastically.
So if I am a tall and lanky guy does that mean something like a single leg sweep will work better for me compared to like high crotch, double leg, fireman’s carry, etc. and if so why?
In my opinion, regardless of your size, the single leg takedown is the highest percentage attack at the elite level of folkstyle wrestling. Explaining why that is my opinion is complicated.
@@jacksongocart4290 In the game of chess, there are certain positions which always lead to victory for 1 side if both players play perfectly. The theory is known, and can be analyzed with computers. While wrestling does not have computer analysis, it does have best theoretical lines for both offense and defense of positions. In the single leg, I don't know how to defend against someone who takes the best lines; while, I have ways to stalemate against the high crotch. In my opinion, the single leg is finishable, while the high crotch is defensible. I could be wrong, and there may exist other offensive/defensive options that make the high crotch finishable or the single defensible, but that's my current opinion of the position after 26 years of wrestling. With that said, the danger rule in college wrestling has changed some of the defensive lines, and the high crotch may now be finishable.
@@jacksongocart4290 a double leg is easier to finish than a single leg, but it's more difficult to get to. A fireman's is lower percentage than the other 3.
