I think I had been listening to too many RU-vid instructors, and while I think all were good, I probably was dealing with conflicting ideas. I've decided to come back exclusively to you, so I watched and applied this video, and reviewed others. I found some real constancy while hitting balls today. Thanks!

Hey brother! I know how things happen when you hit a couple errant shots and think “man, that sucked, I gotta make sure I don’t do that again” and then see a video or 2 on that subject and the guy is explaining your fault and gives you a fix that is body part oriented and down the spiral we go when if you go back to the original focus just before you hit the shot, you realize: “I had no focus” or “I was focusing on making sure I did not go there” instead of “I am going that way with that flight and it will feel like this” Keep your radio tuned right here, let’s evolve this together!

So you may wonder; "does this guy just sit around waiting for our videos"? Well, yea why wouldn't I. You video on the "grip" helped me so much. I changed from an overlap to an interlock and it was a game changer. Even my playing partner asked me what I was doing differently because my contact was crisper and as a result my distance improved, especially with my mid-irons. So yea, I do sit around waiting for your videos. You guys are the best. kevin O'Rourke

Maybe it's just me but when Shawn explains these concepts in his videos, it is like he is not talking to an entire mass audience, and only to me. That's a powerful teacher right there. The way he breaks down the swing in his explanations is just pure gold - it makes the seemingly complex so straightforward and easy to accomplish. He is really a unique leader in the field of golf instruction. Now when I have a question or issue I type in Shawn Clement - invariably I find the answer I need. The Golf swing for me is like life itself, you are constantly striving to improve, one step at a time - in some cases one step is in fact a giant leap in improvement. I think it was Kobe who once said that if you are hammering a stone and you hit it 100 times, the 101st hit breaks the stone - but in reality it is the accumulation of blows that achieved it. Shawn drives such breakthroughs with every lesson and makes me excited to play the game. A true master of his profession.

Love your personality Shawn and your teaching skills are not bad at all my main man…I live in northern MN about 80miles or less from Winnipeg…so you can relate to our weather! I have a timeline window due to the weather so I play about 6 to 7 months out of the year!I take full advantage and on the course every day to watch the beautiful sunrise! No one but myself and nature present ! Priceless!I must say,your swing looks awkward and comical in slow motion but make a ton of sense and the results are undeniable !I kept thinking,how in the wide wide world of sports are these people hitting there clubs 30 yards average longer then myself and consistent ! I am a pretty decent player I think to myself and I know I am much stronger then most humans, then I think ,well you did just turn 59 even though you don’t feel like you are a day older then 20….then I watched a match between Jack and the King and at the time Jack was 54 the king 64…in case some have no clue who I am referring to,it would be Jack, Nicholas, and the king would be Arnold Palmer!no not the drink!….😮….and JN was hitting his 7 about the distance I do!around 150,again countless thoughts!And he is the best player by far of all time!so how is it that Shawn is Just about Jacks age when creating said video and hitting his clubs a good 30 yards longer on the average!and on and on my mind went running a mock!I believe I may have understood the mystery on this short video!im about to hit my home course Riverside Golf course Stephen Minnesota and I can’t wait to try what I am attempting to learn!I must say,when you are explaining in slow motion it looks goofy as all hell,looks super unnatural and uncoordinated but then the phrase don’t judge a book by its cover comes to mind so I will report on my experience, and I will be your new student while scrapping all other so-called instructors off to rest permanentlyI!👍🏻I may also become a premium member,why not throw some shekels your way !can’t think of anyone more deserving then Shawn Sav and Moo….those two are super amazing BTW and it is obvious how they got to this level! my favorite new threesome!…..👌🏻. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

There have been a few tips when I started watching RU-vid that began to transform my swing and get me swinging with some speed and power. However, there is one in particular that did so much more than any other. That is The Perpetual Motion Drill. You, Mr. Clement, have had that drill on your channel since way back. Once I mastered it, it allowed me to let go and just let the club rip and listen to the sound it makes as a guide to get faster and faster. This one drill is probably the most important drill any beginning golfer can do. They just have to do it properly and learn to just let it go and whip it. Once that was achieved for me, I was able to use it as a guide for further training and now I can absolutely crush a golf ball, especially with my irons which were always my biggest weakness pre RU-vid when I was just hacking, slicing, topping, skulling, worm burnin, and flat out guessing all the time. You're the closest thing to a coach I've ever had and I will always be grateful for everything I have learned from your RU-vid channel. It's a good feeling being fairly confident to get on the tee box and hit a ball in front of people I don't know. I used to avoid that like the plague. It was guaranteed failure and embarrassment back then. Not any more. Now it's people doing that little whistle and and saying holy bleep. Thank you.

what a great video, thanks Shawn for a beautiful explanation of the swing ! Made a big difference. For me, it feels like the body is driving the elbow to a certain position and the arm extends automatically from there, based on natural rotational forces. Very similar with throwing the ball, skipping a stone, tennis even soccer, where the knee is driven and the foot releases from there. The secret ingredient is a strong grip. Would you keep same grip in chipping/pitching?
@golflessons

Hey great comment and yes, you can keep the same grip and just more open on the club face depending on the shot around the greens.

Sorry I missed this one David! First thing is to confirm that you are delivering the club through the ball into your flight plan with peak speed well past the ball; then adjust the grip and club face to match the desired flight.

Shawn: Been watching your videos for a while now and still not clear on strong grip. Do you close the face of the club first and then grip the club ( with your strong grip ) ? Or, is the dynamic motion of the strong grip what closes the face at impact? Thanks. Jim from Parkton, MD
@golflessons
@golflessons 10 месяцев назад
Both! When Mu started 5 years ago, we had to close the face and have a strong grip just to keep it in play! And as he got good with the release, he then started to back off the club face to stop hooking! See our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and see Grip and Grip part 2 for the formation of the hands on the club and then see “important grip update” which lays it all out in black and white in line with the anatomy of the arms and body when delivering a ball to a target!

Great info as always Shawn, love the videos! When Sav sets up initially, her club looks more square. Then she presses her hips and arms forward and the club face looks open. Is this because she hits a power fade? If so, in hitting the power fade does her club still go across the line from the inside 2 degrees?
@golflessons
@golflessons 2 года назад
Everything you see statically is a mirage; this is why we refer to the GRIP-CLUB RELATIONSHIP. When you see our “predict contact” and “goldie locks” videos on our premium channel or the “predict perfect contact and direction shawn clement” and “hit a honkin’ draw to hit straight shawn clement” on youtube, you find out that we are adjusting based on our delivery into our flight plans and we make adjustments only once we see a pattern. Priority #1 is deliver into the picture THROUGH THE BALL Priority#2 is observe and adjust based on what you see dynamically and that streamlines nicely over time.

Hi Shawn, I have watched many of your video lessons over several years and have successfully incorporated many of your swing suggestions. However, i have not heard or seen you address the unique swing follow through that keeps your hands above your head and the shaft/clubhead of your club rotating above the top of your head rather than a more conventional follow through around the mid head/neck region..... I believe your swing follow through was Arnold Palmer's swing finish too. Can you explain why you have that finish position while your daughter's swing is more conventional around the neck at the finish? What is the ball flight advantage of your follow through position? Thanks for the kind and patient way you describe how to properly swing the golf club.

Hi Shawn, I’ve noticed that apart from a strong grip, Sav and Moo’s address have both clubs delofted. Do you recommend this for all irons? Thanks in advance!
@golflessons
@golflessons 2 года назад
Yes, this is exactly why they can both deliver through the ball and not at the ball; the reason why so many golfers struggle to get draws and penetrating trajectories is because they have a grip-club relationship that is way too neutral at address and they don’t have the anatomical ability to square things up DYNAMICALLY. You watch the guys on tour with weak grips, you will see huge supinations of the lead hand through impact-Bryson is a big example and the vast majority of golfers DO NOT have that skill set. Much better to do like the tennis player and close the racket in the grip to rip that forehand top spin down the line! Our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com has a great set of release videos called “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”, “release fine tuning” and “snap release polish” and then we show you how to integrate it into the kinetic chain with “turbo charge lead hand release” and “turbo charge trail hand release” and “kinetic chain facilitation series”

He said I see your problem, your grip is way to strong and you need to change it before I can do anything. That's £40 please? I'm going to try again with my strong grip. Should I experiment with an open face too?

Throw some clubs in an open field. You also might not be turning enough through the shot. If you can get to a driving range allow yourself to hit a few crappy ones while trying this new “feel”. You don’t stall in throwing a frisbee, you open up and allow space to throw to target.

Hey Jake! Very cool that you have a couple great answers already! The “throwing the club shawn clement” videos are awesome for that combined with “predict perfect contact and direction shawn clement” and “how to put the ball in the way of the swing shawn clement” On Premium we get way deeper into the rabbit hole with “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”. ‘Release fine tuning” and “snap release polish”. Then we go “throw the club” and don’t let go and that turns into throwing the club into the snap release towards the target which is the “target confirmation series” and the “kinetic chain facilitation” series.
