I did not like Gobbi's voice, but he was a great actor on opera stage which was also very important. Gobbi new how to modulate his not very big rather voice to fit it into any performed roles.

I agree with everything you say. Possibly my favourite baritone of all and when I was very young it was this recording that first brought my attention to this marvellous singer who I have admired ever since.
I've said it many times in the past. Taddei's star shone from the beginning when he sang the role of Fleville in the Gigli, Caniglia, Bechi recording of Andrea Chenier. It never wavered or flickered throughout his long and illustrious career.
