Hola amigos! This is the surf rock version of Perfidia, similar to The Ventures version. The original is a Spanish language song and was played by Big Bands in the 1940s. My website: www.playsteelguitar.com
Boy if I could only be half as good as you I would be thrilled. The pedal steel takes a lot control to make it sound smooth as butter, and you do it like no other. Those notes ring out when they should, and don’t when they are not needed. Your slide is graceful and it shows in the sound of that steel. Many play steel but only a few master it and you Steeler got it down…
Thanks Peter, yeah, this one goes way back. I had this on an early Ventures album when I was about 13 years old! Perfidia was my favorite song on the album. 😊
@@dougsteel I do often. I love the steel guitar. It makes me sad that the "new" country music has no place for them. Or seems not to. I guess the song "murder on music row" fits for the steel guitar.
I learned this one off a Ventures album back around 1962, playing my older brother's Jazzmaster! Every band in Jacksonville, Florida (there weren't many back then, maybe less than 10) played this, as did my brother's band, the original Classics. Thanks for this great cover!
Thanks for checking it out! I too first heard this tune on a Ventures album back in the 60s. This and "Walk Don't Run" are my two favorite Ventures tunes (although neither was an original written by them).
I dont know which I love the most, your pedal steel playing or your nonpedal steel playing...they are both just fantastic !! I have all of your books youve published !! thanks for posting these !!
I remember listening to this fabulous tune by the Ventures in my uncle's beachfront property in the early 60s. It was so addicting and I just never got tire of playing it. So I am playing with my Fender Strat to your melody and it brings back great memories. Thank you so much! Pray for us in Canada. We are fighting a tyrannical government now.
I am 70 years young and have played guitar for most of those years. Well , now everything has caught up with me. Shoulder surgery. carpel tunnel surgery that has failed twice but, i believe that I could possibly do this if I could just get my wife to agree and maybe a few lessons here and there. I mean this is just magic. Best of luck to you and yours.
Actually got to hear the Ventures perform this live in Bryan/College Station TX about 3 decades ago; have always loved their version of "Perfidia" -- and now I love yours!
@@dougsteel Your videos bring Me back to those old Rock & Roll days when music was the greatest to be playing and dancing ! How many steel guitars do You have ?? Wow almost a different one each video - - ->>😲 👍
Hey Doug, remember " Picken and grinnin" on Hee Haw? Well your picken and "I'm grinnin" like a Cheshire Cat with that beautiful rendition. Off topic... that's a really cool shirt. 👍
I could listen to this tune after some years absence. That time it was Vicky Carr's version. In Japan this tune is unfamous, but I like this.Thank you very much.
