1. Make sure to analyse your incorrect and correct attempts of solving problems thoroughly in order to develop an understanding of the possible approaches and correct concepts. Only analyze the relevant details don't delve into what ifs when doing problems. 2. Whenever you study something, make sure you're getting to the heart of it. I think the Feynman technique is great for this. 3. Be patient with yourself, and do not be disheartened if someone else can get better grades without studying as much, your hard work is something that will be the differentiating factor eventually.
Being someone who has almost ruined his jee preparation studying in an exploratory fashion, I can say sir's words are the most practical and genuine. Research oriented students should just drop their curiosities in 11-12th and care for exams, lest u won't be getting a college even to wonder abt doing research in future. I have learned it the hard way. All the best.
No need to drop the curiosities. Just stop being distracted while actually doing the problems. This was a problem I myself faced and I was not successful during my first JEE attempt.
@@vaishnavchandra5220 I know what you're talking about. But it's not right to just drop the curiosity or that intrigue that you get for a certain topic. Explore it in your free time. Students have to learn to think hard about the problem in those areas which are relevant to the problem only. I faced this problem as well. I had this superior feeling that I spend so much time on a matter at such a deep level unlike the others who just solve problems mechanically. Nobody was there to correct me at that time, and I learnt from my mistake the hard way.
Same thing you will say in your graduation, "I will explore more when I will be in masters, right now I should focus on clearing masters entrance exam". During Masters, "I will focus more on exploring During PhD, right now i should focus on studies, grades and phd entrances". ->I don't know about phd bcz I am in masters. 1st sem completed in just 3 months 🥲🥲🥲🥲, as a result my whole focus was just on curriculum. Didn't expected this from IIT Kgp, I was very disappointed within one month after joining Kgp.😓
I never thought about it 😢... I was just doing trial and error to get answers... I'll change my approach for now... Thanks a lot sir ☺️ Edit: after watching the whole video i realised I am doing everything wrong which i never noticed.
This video really opened up what I was missing!!! I am a 10th grader and I always end up scoring very little in maths exams, whenever I ask other people for advice they just brush it off with a " practice more " lmao, I actually practice a lot but as proff said its all shallow work since I don't really think about the problem much and just go on practicing blindly ( in auto control Mode) thats why in exams I am often scared and not confident enough to attempt the questions
Hey I'm in grade 10 too and face the exact same problem, inspite of having a fundamental backlog in mathematics, what do you think about the upcoming board exam along with clearing such basic concepts with actually understanding a problem?
Such a positive video. When the world around is full of negativity, your words will make evan a last bench student, a class topper. Especially the subtle difference between hard work and slog, is a very tiny detail. Overall wonderful video Sir.
Many thanks, especially coming from such a fine teacher as yourself. I firmly believe the younger the students, the bigger the challenge in teaching them properly.
@@Prof_JC thank you so much Professor for such kind words. Teaching at kindergarten level, is quite challenging, but one can experience purest form of love from kids. They treat me, as their second mother, so the happiness is priceless.
Think hard and do at first go. Analyse that attempt , thought process , could it be better. Thinking , is the key , is the priority. Postpone the intellectual thought for the analysis. Knowledge shall be in depth. Identify the problem anyhow you can. Hard work is superpower ,never give up on it .
Life changing advice from jc sir now iam going to apply your advices to my academics and yeah let's see how much impact it would create on my academics btw thank you so much sir ❤❤
Sir THANK U SO MUCH. YOU LITERALLY ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS I WAS FACING TILL NOW. I LITERALLY WAS CRYING DAY AND NIGHT SITTING AND DOING THE QUESTIONS. What you said about the "hardwork " . I was literally putting 15 -16 hrs a day doing all i can and still getting less scores. AND THIS TIME I WAS ABOUT TO JUST GIVE UP ON MY HARDWORK BUT YOU JUST WAKE ME UP I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH SIR 🙏🙏❤
One of the best lectures about the mistakes I made in my class 11th and I hope that this would help me in class 12th As being a student I always liked to know a lot of things and that got me to completion of limited syllabus in class 11th like the chapter atomic structure was so much my favorite that I completed it along with nuclear physics and atomic physics and it took me nearly 3 months to go in depth and fall in love with such insurmountable subject but I didn't knew it was my biggest mistake and that's why I lagged till the end of 11th Thank you sir I hoping to meet you in 2024 at IIT Kharagpur as my parents also want that I should give my best and would go for further studies at IIT Kgp but I gave lagged a lot of time in these things and my syllabus is not upto the marks of what my friends in that position. So sir can you please post a video about the syllabus completion like how much time should we give to get a good grip as I am also studying from Kv here attendance is required so I have to go to school daily and manage these kind of stuff but still I enjoy each chapter not taking it as a burden but I feel like something I have a learned most importantly thanks sir for the patience of reading my comment . Regards ~Ayushman
Dear sir I am watching your videos last 6th month and I love this. Sir I am from Bihar a small village.. there is not a well educated teachers to guide me. My schooling was in government school with no coaching. During class 11 in 2021 I got phone from my parents for the first time for online classes. Where I know all about the jee exam I start prepared for it but due to family health and many problems... got distracted and tensed due to this not clearing my exam I take a drop for 2023 still this date I not confident for this exam. Now i am scared If i am not selecting what can I do? It's a dream or biggest desire to going in iit college and learn. But my curiosity for science and technology is too much high .....
Sir, I will be joining a tier 3 college this month itself. I couldn't perform well in mains even being a hard working student and today I got to know why. I must praise you for the amount of effort you are putting in for your students ,not just in IIT but also here on RU-vid.
Thank you professor for this video 🙏❤️❤️ why all other teacher like my coaching teacher or academic teacher doesn't give this knowledge which is important in preparation also . They just want us to do hardwork without any direction, we are a vector with lots of magnitude but some habit makes us to lost a direction and we become a scalar... THANK YOU SIR FOR THIS VIDEO 👍🙌 , YOU Are a Real Teacher who Know problem we faced ..( and sorry for Grammer mistake)..🙂
Thank you for the kind words. I really hope that you can yourself find the required direction after watching this video and thinking hard about what exactly you need to do.
Thank You I'm gonna be honest I didn't really study at all in 10th I ended up scoring terrible ( I didn't fail but I just felt sad that okay This is bad I need to step up my game ) I started studying Just mathematics n At the end in my finals I did really good but then I took a break cus my habbit broke I wasn't able to study I started again 5-6 months worked hard didn't see any results I'm doing bad as compared to my peers in class and it's disheartening as Some of them aren't even putting the effort n they cheat in exams I needed this a lot Thanks prof ! I'm starting again with your tips thank You
Thanks prof. I felt I did a lot of hardwork for the Minor examination of Eng. Mechanics, solving extremely long and tough but at the same time irrelevant problems. I ended up scoring lower marks than most people. I now feel it was more of a slog than actual hardwork.
Thank you professor for your advice, i have realised my wrong approach towards studying, and will definitely try to improve it and get out of the tiny difference between hardwork and slog.🙏
Thank you so much sir, you addressed the same problems I was having, I'm a dropper, but during 11th and 12th, I did the same things, I solved many many numericals, but on the basis of hit and trial method, and I was able to solve good amount of questions and hence I thought that I'm doing great. Secondly I had shallow level knowledge of many chapters, I never indulged in that depth of every chapter, because of my first habit, I kept on doing the trial and error method, and lastly, I was a regular student, I completed whole syllabus, did sheets, gave mocks and everything but still I was not able to qualify, I tell this to my parents but they don't believe me, they think its not possible if a person completely sticks with coaching and still don't get selected.
Sir what I can say from my personal experience is that solving a question related to a particular concept gives you a lot more clarity than reading a concept itself. You may not understand a concept when you read it but when you apply in a particular problem, you will automatically grasp the concept and that I think most students don't know about it.
There are different ways in which you learn a certain topic. However, understanding the concept before you apply it to the problem is almost always the right way. Everyone has to understand the problem at least to some degree (the essentials) to solve a particular problem. Understanding & then practicing is just the right protocol. However it is true that one learns plenty more during practice than while you read because it's your original thought process that is at work rather than the author of a book prompting you to figure out while reading.
Sir, I am a student of ssc board and believe me the education system is very very bad. Like you said in the video, we are never told the logic behind things . Some of us really want to know how the formula came, some explanation about that particular lesson but schools waste a lot of our time in meaningless assignments and hence, we are left with no time to research things in depth.
6:50 that absolutely what I’m suffering with since my 3rd grade sir Sometimes, when I get right answers I’ll be happy if not I’ll think deeper into in search of the real root cause… but I make sure that this doesn’t happen in exam hall, 99% it happens during class and preparation
Sir was so upset got 6.55 cgpa in the first term but got 8.87 cgpa in 2nd sem then 8.76 in 3rd now my net gpa is 8.01 out of the deep trouble thank u for ur video about college studies Student of IIT HYDERABAD
Thank you sir. I am still in 10th grade but I still found a lot of your advice applicable to my own problems. I really find this helpful, thank you so much.
Thank you sir, for explaining the hardwork in elaborated way. I always spent lots of time in some questions finding behind reason for each step and in some question i skip doing analysis for once a time. But today i understand my mistakes that I was doing for long term.
6:57 OMG!? I was so stressed with this issue and saw no one discuss this. I'm so glad you did, I knew i had to do this very thing, but I just couldn't and got stuck. Thank you ❤
Hello sir, I am a student of math in Dept of atomic energy CEBS and I believe that i have found my way of enjoying anything: Be tension free about being right or wrong and try to play around with everything. This works so beautifully in experimental work(which i am not a part of) and also math especially writing proofs. I now change one or two comps of definition of let's say, convergence of sequence and i can make it work for series also
Thank you professor for giving insight about the super power "HARD WORK". I feel it goes waste a lot of times. Lot of works put into academics resulted in low marks in sem 1 at nit-c. But still not gonna give up. Will keep on putting the hard work proff. Thank you for ur advice.
Sir, you spoke so so 100% true on all the advice. It seemed like you were talking about my life and the academic problems I am facing. Thank you so much on your tips and truth on improving marks. And definitely try to apply these as i go. Thanks
Thank you very much sir. I'm student from jadavpur university chem dept. I also face this problem solving organic mechanism. what you've talked about. I mean from class 11,12 I'm weak in organic.. now in University I face the same exact problem.
🇮🇳 Thank you so much, Professor, for sharing these awesome tips. By using them, I will definitely improve my score and build strong self-confidence to become a very good statistician and serve my beloved nation.
6:58 Thanks sir I usually have the habit of thinking a problem in many other ways, and thats a good approach I know but our education is rigged you know!
Sir I'm a high school student & facing the same problem but in a totally different way, in my tests that're regularly being conducted im able to perform well with good marks in it but somewhere i lack that practice during my school or higher examination..im not able to figure out what must be the incorrectness here
Do a activity when you do certain kind of running or jogging or intense exercise try to engage in problem solving while doing so or imagine an organic reaction mechanism it will transform your flight fight response . Give it a try 😉
Sir It takes me 1 hour to solve each problem.I am in class 11th.My analytical skill and problem solving skill is so bad.Whenever I get a little moderate question I get stuck and can't solve it.After seeing the solution, I understand that it is easy. How to improve my problem solving skills sir please give strategy. 😢😢
In the context of a bottomless understanding of a topic to solve questions, I just wanted to know one thing. In BSc Economics Honours, we have to refer to a minimum of 15 books (which use jargon words), yet this doesn't help optimally to get a clear conception in a semester's papers. There's no proper guidance or source available for understanding the core of the topic. Also, the time constraint of each semester forces us to rush and not analyse each sum/question deeply. In Mathematics too, when the basics of honours level topics are not cleared, it becomes an issue to solve twisted questions. In that case, what should be done?
I don't have much idea about what to do in Economics. But in mathematics, it is dangerous to proceed without having the basics cleared in a proper way. One does need the guidance of a good teacher. But if that is missing, the only option is for self-study. However, for certain topics, you can take the help of the NPTEL lecture videos.
Sir, I am Btech Biotech student and I usually have 8 -9 courses each semester and 3-4 courses are new everytime .i try to study conceptually but unable cover all courses which leads to not so good marks and at the end eventually whatever i have studied is all gone and unable to write anything in the rest exams everything that I have studied got messed up in between the exam everytime. sir what can i do to improve
Good evening sir I m a student of class 11 and recently gave my half yearly exams in which I got 37 out of 80 In maths I was totally shattered as I worked very hard for it I literally did each and every chapter honestly and the day I saw my result I was so disappointed and depressed that I thought of giving up & even didn't study mathematics for a month but then I thought to start fresh and today I m able to understand what I mistakes I did but one thing I wanted to ask you sir that how to manage time how to solve the problems in a much faster way.... please reply sir it'll be of great help🙏🙏
I solved problems assignments and then not sleeping well throughout, yet those who had not even studied much, snd i did not do any trial and error either. I ended up scoring 69.5 out of 80 in my science exam😂😂, even after studying this hard.
Feeling extremely demotivated.... Today I had test in my coaching , and I scored 73/300.. Even after studying a lot... practicing questions a lot ,I ended up with this result 😓😔😔
Sir what is the utility of an exam system? Why is knowledge not free? Why do people hasten to judge others when they themselves want to avoid being judged? Why are we born free but everywhere in chains?
