I switched to K&N and a bowling ball slipped right past the filter into the upper intake then struck the engine pistons down for a perfect 300.

Dont compare it by testing how much air flowing, compare it by how the filter clean the air . Just try to put some ash, dust into your filter, And suction it

Put over 300k miles on two separate Toyota Tacoma trucks with the 3.4 v6 with K&N filters. Apparently both trucks missed the memo that the filters will supposedly cause the engine to detonate.

I loved my K&N filter until I worked at a quarry, the fine dust nearly killed my truck and had to switch to paper. K&N is alright if you’re a road warrior or never go anyway in the south west

Keep in mind the more air flow you get the more debris can pass by also.

What everyone forget is that the KN filter has bigger and looser holes. Meaning less restrictions to air flow but on the other hands. It doesnt suck debris into the vehicle. Thats why they put oil onto the filter so any dirts will eventually get stuck on it.

High performance air filters are designed for full air introduction at the cost of filtration. For a race car it’s fine as you can afford the constant maintenance but for a regular car this will lead to fine particles ending up in your engine.

I get that the filter is supposed to filter the dirt but i think some of you miss the point of it also sounds and usually performs better. Filtering qaulity though is pretty good ive been running mine since i got the car almost 2 years and havent had a problem and thanks to a retune even gained a few horsepower which was kinda the whole point😂😂

Same for dust and other heavy particles from the air. Use the reccomended air filter,k&n are just for racing purposes /racing engines!

Doubt the fan was designed for static pressure

Those who ate talking bad about free flow air filters are the one who have never used one. I am using one for the past 1 year and few of my friends are using for the past 3 years but everything just seems great. depends on how it was fitted. people have done zanskar ( full of dust) trips on it and yet it worked well.

Use K&N if you want air. Use Purolator if you want clean air.

Do any of you even see that 3 filters are being used? The first one lines up an down, second one stock and third lines left to right.

Project Farm showed that gives more air at a terrible cost of more particles scratching up the engine. Besides tbe oil you spray on the filter messes up the mass air filter.

been running k&n filters on all my vehicles & do the oil change on all of em myself, not once have i seen any bit of dirt in any of the oil filters, so i would say these do filter dust & small particles well. it b the ppl who have never ran the filters w/ an opinion

People who have had issues from high flow filters “ruining” their engine don’t clean their filter enough or even at all. If you get a dry filter like AFE ProDry S or AEM Dryflow, and clean it every 10k miles, you’ll be fine

People! Do not listen to negative information, I always use K&N filter and I never had 1 single problem. Do a research first.

Was the k and n filter pre oiled before this test ?

This is really where getting info from reputable sources matters. It also matters what type of driving you do and where you drive on what filter you pick. I personally can’t justify a K&N filter because I personally don’t see any benefits from my research.

Love my K&N I feel it gives my old 2litre turbo diesel engine an extra 10hp and better throttle response. However do not use as much priming oil as their own videos suggest imho!

Now put some dirt on the filter and see if the ball gets dirty. Its a filter not a blow dryer. Great it flows more but then do it catch less.

If you poke a bunch of holes in the stock filter it will match the KnN or better

These are good if you wanna keep your intake stock like on a corvette or something and you take it to the track or drag drip...for the regular roads...nah too dirty

Just the same as a furnace filter. You’re better off with the green mash filter because it doesn’t have as much restrictive airflow. Plus your furnace won’t have to work as hard same concept as your engine.

lol you guys are funny all repeating the same thing, i can tell you guys don’t have performance cars complaining that K&N made a high flow filter. It’s ok guys lol it’s just not for u. Drive ur Toyota Prius and stay in the far right lane my goodness

Now show us the foreign object to engine penetration figures comparing the two and how that affects engine longevity? Either you want to go 3% faster for a shorter time, or normal pace for much, much longer.

I want to see that done again without the oil in the filter.

Since more air flow is going through would that make the computer make the car throw out more gas ?

Do you need it??? No... But do you want it??? Hell yeah brother!!! When you think about it, a filter you toss away or a filter that you buy once and reusable basically until you croak or did something stupid with it. I'd choose the later, K&N filters if you take care of em they will take care of you and it's an easy choice.

Just don't use these filters if you live or use your car in somewhere with lots of dust in the air. Otherwise go for it, they make a little bit more hp and more turbo noise.

That aint filtering nothing, put a wix on the tester, which actually filters dirt out.

Kinda of a misleading test. The difference in flow rate to keep the ping pong ball floating could be miniscule. Would be better to have a reading of the flow rate going through the filter.

More air on washable filter it's not good.. can lead the dusty air to Throttle body.. it's better to stay stock filters

KN filter let more air pass through. More gas ⛽️ there for more money spent. They are 5 times more expensive than OEM, and they let more particles to the engine, not the best idea to preserve the integrity of the car

So basically "performance" does a worse job at filtering like I been telling people. Less restriction allows more dirt. Keep things in mind with your oil filters and HELLO! Your air intakes, especially when daily driving and living in dusty areas. That motor won't last.

Well you listen to all these people that don't know what they're talking about well I'm an Audi technician so I have an Audi R8 and I have an Audi S4 and I have an M3 every one of the technicians there that has these cars has a K&N air intake system in their car and they run amazing you get better cooling system in the engine and you get better performance and throttle response 100 you definitely gaining between 10 to 15 horsepower on them type of cars not not normal cars and that Peaks you can gain up to like 25 so they do work if you put a cane in air intake system in your car and put a cane in air filter in your car and if you run Royal Purple oil with a Royal Purple oil filter you're going to gain a minimum of 25 horsepower on the dyno on all kind of care what kind of car that you have PC engine core the performance oil filter to oil falls back out of the filter into the engine quicker and you get better performance 100% it's been proven and we all use it we don't even use the liquid Molly in our cars all the technicians if we use it for the customers but all the technicians we all use Royal Purple but it's a better performance oil and it keeps your engine cooler so the only people that know this stuff is actually mechanics and people that have cars that are into cars so and if you have these type of cars you're going to see a difference you're not going to see that much of a difference in a normal car or an SUV see better gas mileage and made her better throttle response but you're not going to get that much performance but if you put Royal Purple oil in your car and oil filter it is going to keep your engine cooler so if you have a supercharged car turbocharged car and you put a canine are intake system in it you are going to see the difference in the performance

For a normal car you want the air filter that filters the best, not lets the most air through. That's why Mann filter > K&N for normal cars

Properly cleaned and oiled K&N Filters let in more AIR FACTS!!! They also let in more DIRT FACTS!!! If you use good oil and good oil filters the increased Air is worth the increased Dirt for many people. Run high density oil filters that will trap more dirt. If you want your Toyota engine to last for 300k+ mikes then decarbonize your engine with Auto RX plus and run good paper filters! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Kn is trash Regular paper filters work best replacement is important don't be fooled by recleaning and using again it's not the same
