I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.

Fun fact: JinJin told on his podcast Unboxing (on Dive studios) that for the Idol performance that they did with Pentagon and Victon, Rocky watched the original performance once and then immediately instructed JinJin and Sanha on what to do. This boy is a very humble dance genius and deserves to be more acknowledged. So thank you Jeff for being someone that does that, not just with Rocky but with Astro as a whole.

i think Astro’s new comeback just proves once again that they can take on any concept... they’re variety is endless. and having Rocky in their group definitely raises the dance aspect of things. their choreo is much cleaner, sharper, and synchronized and it seems to be that Rocky leads the practices. thanks so much for reacting to Astro and i hope you like their bside songs too! 💜

I really praised Sanha's dancing skills. He's really good, rocky is insane when it comes to dancing, no doubt. But sanha always caught my eyes. He's literally underrated, i hope most people see him in terms of dancing

Sanha not in dance line maybe because he just show so much improvement in the recent years. And Astro only has 6 members and it divided to vocal lines (mj, eunwoo, sanha) and dance line (jinjin, moonbin, rocky). Nonetheless, all of them are good dancers even Eunwoo showing good improvement compared to his debut days.

Correct me if im wrong. But when sanha was still a trainee he actually dont like dancing and was at verge of giving up because of it. And really just became an idol bcs of his father love of singing. And what made him today being so so so good at dancing was the determination, perseverance and the love what he is doing. To why he really improve so so much comparing to the first they do performances and mvs.

I think it's just because he started the youngest and didnt have a "speciality" at first, whereas Rocky/Jinjin/Moonbin already had hefty backgrounds in dancing

I agree~~ they didn't emphasize 'synchronization' as a whole group but they try to more highlighting each member singin time or like you said Jeff, they're adding individual style. Astro is a group that always discussed every gesture of every member, so if one member movement is different than the others that mean it's intentional..

You want an easter egg? ONE spelled 원 (won) in Korean, that also means 'circle' so the whole choreo is more rounded and flowy in a way rather than edgy and angular moves. They have this idea for every thing on this comeback. Good observation right here!

For this comeback, they wanted to try a more visual focused approach. Their previous comebacks were all centered around following a storyline so this time they wanted to try something different. As for Rocky's rap, apparently it's 60 syllables in 8 seconds but if you only count the fast part in the rap, it's 25 syllables in 2.5 seconds.

They are all very talented dancers!! I really enjoy how smooth and graceful Moonbin always executes his moves. He has power but it never looks overdone and choppy.

Yeah makes sense, as rocky adds more flare and personal dance style while jinjin went to school and has a more technical way of dancing making it seem easier to follow 💙

@@28.4km tbh rocky is the one who dances in a more technical way in idol dancing. Jinjin learned house in the high school, but house is quite different from idol dancing. i don't think it's a good idea to put technique at odds with personal style. you can own both.

Yes. I’ve been waiting for your reaction to Astro’s One dance practice. I’ve learned a lot. I agree that sanha needs more recognition with his performances. I guess it’s just hard to really see him when he’s with Rocky, or Moonbin or Jinjin. But when he did the Psycho cover. He stand out. I felt like this comeback is more fairly distributed (Like rocky was able to highlight his rapping and dance skills)

Actually if you go back to the other dance practices and focus on rocky then compare his choices to every member, you'll see how much little details he's adding in most parts. It's so fun to try and see what parts are those.

definitely. he's very Detailed-oroented and has distinct personal style. it's always fun to compare rocky's fancams to other members just in this piece he moves bigger, so it becomes more obvious.

Sanha is extremely talented with dancing! Moonbin has said that the groups development in dancing is mostly rocky's help. Also Sanha has always been a great dancer I'm glad someone gas noticed!

I was always a Rocky bias. I like his dance style, his smile, his personality and a bonus sense of humor. But I totally agree that SanHa was underrated. I noticed SanHa improves a lot since Blue Flame era, although PMH dominates that era. SanHa has a unique style that even Rocky and MoonBin cannot imitate. There are moments that I Iove replaying his dance moves coz it amazes me how fluid his movements are. He is still growing and improving. But of course, I've always rooting for Rocky 🤣

Know what why jeff is my favorite when it comes to reviewing astro's dance because he really appreciate every members of astro and i really understands his interpretation, details of the choreo as a former contemporary dancer i relate on what he tryin to say.. And that why Rocky is so close to my heart i felt his passion in dancing.. Every dancer who's first love is dancing... Oh, I'm crying haha. Thank you jeff. Love you. Agreed, Sanha is highly underrated as a dancer and vocalist. But then Astro as a team works together so seamlessly! I think is speaks to their skill level as a whole that no one member stands too far out.

I agree that this comeback feels different but I've followed them for so long that I like that they dare with something different without losing the refreshing sound of their music. I always replay and watch each ones dance move to compare with the others, they all have their own style yet still in sync but rocky will always be hitting each and every single movement 110%, like it feels like it ain’t just a dance move to him, each movement means something and has to look perfect ... anyway I love it aha

I remember Lisa in youth with you telling her mentees that if your role is main dancer you have to show it and work just as harder to let them you know you are the main dancer just as she did. I guess this is rocky doing his part with him having his own stylistic choice and it’s seen too when danced BTS idol with other idols, you can just tell that rocky is doing rocky 😂😂 Disclaimer: I am no professional dancer, just telling my thoughts as a consumer critic 😂😂

It makes perfect sense that the choreo would be more "round" like you said. "ONE" sounds like the word "circle" in Korean and they sing about circles.

i think i kinda understand what Jeff was trying to point out here. astro wasnt that technically synchronized in this choreo because i think they gave their own individual style to it. if you look closely you’ll notice they arent dancing it in a technical way. they may not have the same style of turning or jumping but what I noticed about them is that they still go down or even touch the floor at the same time. different pacing but same ending. do you guys get me? lol STAN ASTRO for GOOD HEALTH

..for me, its not that moonbin is my bias..(i dont have a favorite, i love them all) but for dancing, i like moonbin's..he dances with oozing sexiness. rocky is more of swag as they say. nevertheless, they're all good but if i need to choose my personal taste with regards to dancing, i must say..Moonbin..❤️... figthing Astro!✊..i hope he would be given a chance to do his own choreography too..or both rocky and moonbin do a choreo..just purely their's without any other choreographers' help..✊
