Perfumer Reviews 'AQVA Amara' by Bvlgari 

It is discontinued and that's a shame because it's one of my favorite summer fragrances. I love the way it brings all the different orange notes together (orang, neroli, and pettigrain). The performance is stellar and the price was right before it was discontinued.

I love that now the name of the chemicals aaron mentions appear on screen, makes it much easier to follow his explanation. Thanks!

One of my favourite fragrances. I’ll happily wear this all year round but love the summer feeling it gives me. I regret not picking more bottles up when the price was reasonable before it became discontinued.

I absolutely love this frag, its extremely original and a summer banger.

Jacques Cavallier is a legend, such a talented perfumer. Discontinued I believe, yes.

This fragrance became much sought after once it was discontinued. Personally I love it and managed to pick up three 50mls before the price sky rocketed. Looking forward to your review of Roja Apex.

So I'm not into summer fragrances too much, even in summer I like to wear my leather, spicy or smoky fragrances (but maybe the lighter ones) but THIS is the one I always keep for summer nights. Although I'm basically online into niche fragrances at this point (besides some great YSL). I think it's absolutely beautiful, in general I think Bulgari is better than some people seem to rate it. The citrus in it has this really bitter tone, like it's only the oils from the zests, which I really like, it has like the packaging almost a copper color in its aroma, some spicyness, some woods, like sitting at a church at a red sundawn somewhere at a harsher coast in Italy.

It's my favorate flanker ,it has clean aquatic slightly soapy vibe, the drydown is more masculine

another great review aaron! i went through maybe 4 bottles while in highschool, absolutely loved it and still have my last bottle from years ago. can’t bring myself to wear it anymore though, burned my nose out from it and 5 years later i still can’t bring myself to enjoy this fragrance anymore

I still have ACVA from about 15 years ago in the blue/green bottle, nearly full. It must have completely different notes because it doesn’t smell all that citrusy just fresh. I got it for my husband and he never wears it. Gonna sneak into my collection!

Bvlgari has now discontinued their entire aqva line so ive heard, this one was discontinued quite a while ago and recently aqva atlantique and aqva marine have been confirmed as discontinued too, so the only one left is the one you reviewed last time bvlgari aqva which is surely going to be getting the chop as well if the rest are gone, its a shame i think the whole aqva line were really nice summer fragrances and the bottles were quite cool too in a circle etc, My favourite is aqva marine

Another brilliant review

I kind of have the same problem. It almost comes off as a cleaner on my skin, but I’m glad it’s not overbearing. I can’t overspray it or else I notice too much of the harshness and sharpness this fragrance has. Imo, this is a great aroma chemical style fragrance in moderate doses, but I have overwhelmed myself by spraying too much in the past. Great review on a discontinued fragrance that was hyped in the past by the fragrance community

It Was my Number one complimented Cologne Of all time, Whenever I put it on I get at least one or two compliment. Perfection for the hot weather, South Florida In my case.

Aqva & Aqva Amara are both favorites of mine, good performers and great compliment getters ! The former was my SOTD actually, very enjoyable during the summer... I'm happy I got a few backup bottles before its discontinuation.

This was my absolute favorite summer fragrance I was heartbroken when they discontinued this and I don’t understand why

I break out Aqva Amara when it's wicked hot out. Over 90 degrees usually. It's like a dry citrus with lots of florals throughout to me. I picked up a 1.7 boxed for $21 on clearance back in 2017 or 2018. So glad I did.

If I heard correctly the whole Aqua line is being killed off by Bvlgari. As they focus on the Man line.

To me it's better at the beach. I bought a 50ml around 2017 before it was discontinued for 35usd. Price has definitely risen. It really really shines in high heat and humid climates and I got more than 12+hrs on skin with more than 24+hrs on clothes. Definitely go easy on the sprays because it is a beastly fragrance. I will say everyone won't appreciate this fragrance because the avg Joe doesn't have a nose for frags

Try Loewe Solo Atlas as a replacement for Aqva Amara - it's not the same, but it's bery concentrated for an EDP, and Loewe is highly under the radar while the fragrances smell expensive and natural.

ATH you sir are the man. I’m 50 and moving to Oahu to get married. The weather there is year round 80’s. Which one of your scents would you recommend? I love your stuff, please tell me your opinion!!! Mostly will be work at night and to my wedding.

Hi Aaron, the "v" is meant to be a "u" so they're harkening back to Middle English spellings to make it sound classy--the same way some people spell "old" as "olde". As always, thank you so much for your review. And while I'm here, what is your best incense fragrance you are selling at the moment?

Reviews in hindsight do a disservice to the fragrance based on the impact it had at its release.Would be good to have FM hip him to the history and credentialed perfumers behind the fragrances.

THE STRENGTH OF THE OCEAN!

I regret the days when I could get my hands on this one for 50-52$ for a 100ml now it's like 150$.

I have this one and marine. I wore marine today. I'm not a huge fan of Amara. It's so strong and smells kinda weird. I have been learning to like it a little more. I wear less sprays so it doesn't overwhelm me

This fragrance is not of my favorite summer fragrances ever. One of the only fragrances I’ve ever worn that get compliments from people pretty much every time I wear it. 👍

It's really disappointing when I company makes something halfway decent and then they discontinue it all of a sudden 🥴

You need to try AQVA Atlantiqve that’s really nice you will love it .

its a love/hate fragrance for me...i sometimes get rutten seagrass smell from it . but i always get very nice comments about it

Hey Aaron! Just a random question I wanted to ask an expert like you, but does a perfume smell different on everyone? Because of their skin and blood type?

I own it, it is great for the summer. Bought it last winter, for the summer of course, was difficult to track down since it is discontinued. Powerful fresh with bitter-ish notes (pettitgrain), watery,clean, powerful. Your review is spot on. My current top summer frag is eau givreee by Hermes.

Aaron, I'll be completely honest. I absolutely hate, hate Aqva Amara. It smells like a rotten orange in a hot summer trash can to me. Not for me lol

Aqua Amara means Bitter Water

I own it and I don’t know if I like it or if I hate it lol.

my no1 summer fragrace for years so now if i spray it , my mind goes in to summer mode lol ,

I had the exact same assessment when I tried it several years back; I remember liking half of it, but I couldn't tolerate the metallic nor "harsh" element. But I was intrigued just enough that I vowed to try it again sometime, since there's so little I like out there, and I found parts of it I liked. Next thing I know...of course...it's discontinued.

To me it smells very chemical in high heat. I wear it in spring when it shines and comes off natural and pleasant.

To me it smells like Issey Miyaki clone. I like it

It has a super bitter grapefruity note to my nose. I like all the other Aqvas, but I can't with this one. It's unwearable to me. No offence to the fans.

Is this sweet orange, similar to YSL M7?

For some reason this is my fall scent.

I find that this smells like a citrus rind off my skin with a lovely twist of patchouli and frankincense. Most summer designers are safe and boring. Not this one! I like it when I'm feeling somewhat onerous.

It has a overdose of Calone. Smells like raw eggs. I avoid anything with that note

Overhyped. I don't like it at all! Dark weird smell orange... This and ADG Profumo are horrible + some Tom Ford's fragrances.
