Im a 50yr old male I purchased a bottle for 25 bucks at Walmart and must say I love it and my wife thinks it smells AMAZING but she doesn't knows it's Ariana I just told her it was called cloud and tossed the box
Ahhh yes those days, I used to watch reviewers constantly back when I had exams. I didn't have ATH back then, so I guess this is your generation's review god!
I'm a rugged, bearded man.. Did this scare me, noooo! I wear the clouds out of it! The looks I get from the girls are pure jealousy, you smell fantastic they say! 😇 My secret winter bomb! ☁️ Thank you, I've been waiting ages for this review! 👏
I can totally relate to your comment about being able to disconnect from loving for hating fragrances. I find it a lot easier to appreciate fragrances of all kinds as time goes on and I experience more and more of them. It’s rare that I smell anything and have a strong negative reaction anymore. I can almost always find something to appreciate.
This perfume took me all the way out it made me come full circle on my perfume adventures and I'm still shook. After 10 years discovering niche perfumery and spending so much money I discovered BR540 and fell in love with it I just wasn't in the headspace (and didn't have the money period) to spend above 100 for a perfume anymore because if I buy it it means I love the scent so much that I'm going to wear the hell out of it and I'm going through full bottles so fast it's not financially sustainable for me. So I bought Cloud looking for a dupe and my first impression was this: not only it does smell like BR540 - you say 70% - but to the average person not into perfumes as much as we are it's a 90% - and the 30% that makes it Cloud hit me with A MEMORY of my favorite place on earth ever ! I couldn't believe it this smells exactly like the Indigo book store that had a starbucks in Toronto near the eaton center seing as the perfume has a whipped cream note it makes a lot of sense and this throw back to one of my happiest place that was made just for me blew my mind. Ironically, even though this is a celeb perfume, from a celeb I don't even follow, and is cheaper, it is an absolute banger I got many compliments it's a celeb perfume way above its league I mean it's being compared to the finest and stands solid, so. The coconut/Fig note makes it an exotic stunner during summer (synthetic à la escada but soleil blanc creamier) the cream a warm stunner during winter (the angel wings yankee candle so much, basically heaven). To anyone really looking to get a dupe for BR540 remember that it will not smell 100% like BR540 to you or to trained perfume afficionados but to the regular person it will and they might even like it better ! BR540 being the real complex luxury perfume it can be hit or miss, most people stopping me (it happens a lot to people wearing that BR540 dna) to ask about what I am wearing have no idea about BR540 their refferences are the perfumes you get at sephora etc which is not a diss cause that's where a lot of masterpieces are, but something to take advantage of when looking for other perfumes. Mind blown: cloud is a "unique" (not so much, but to the majority of people though) CROWD PLEASER that smells a lot more expensive than it is. For the price it's so good that you'll have to settle for the lesser quality of the packaging and bottle: the design is actually super nice I just have to say: the cloud base is unecessary for us older customers, elements such as the spraying cap of the bottle isn't high end and can fall out, and the name on the bottle says ariana grande instead of saying cloud which says so much about the marketing, this makes it look like merch if you get what I'm saying. Those are little details that remind you that this wasn't the most luxurious purchase and was marketed towards teenagers/young adults BUT the juice is top notch. I am 36yo and I have no shame in wearing Cloud and saying that's what it is, I don't even miss the real BR540 because as I said what makes it not BR540 hit home for me anyways. On the sweet sweet side which could throw off women looking for a very mature scent and at the same time, IF grabbing men's attention is something you want your scent to do, sweet seems to be a winner with them reguardless of the fact that it's supposed to be "a scent for 16yo" if you are confident about what you are wearing it doesn't matter you decide how you are percieved right ? (Combination of the scent+personal style+personality) this has the strong potential to (it does !) turn men's head. It's very unisex anyways, even the blue bottle is safe for masculine men which is why I don't like that it says ariana grande on the bottle cause I could see myself gifting this to a wrestler I'm just not sure he'd be a fan of seing ariana grande on the bottle. so sweet doesn't mean it is not edgy, it has an edge that the sweet perfumes 100% made for young girls do not have and that is the BR540 like DNA. "James Bond could wear this" being my interpretation of that lux beyond belief DNA. Don't be fooled by sweet Cloud is sexy. the devil wrapped in milky silk. Ariana sings that God is a woman, how sweet does that sound to you ? (Did that perfume also turn me into a fan ? Jesus)
i just ordered your 10ml discovery set because i couldnt decide what bottle to buy first lol love your work. if you need a suggestion for a future review look into Gisada Ambassador
Great review as always, Aaron :) Would you ever consider getting your nose on Another 13 by Le Labo? It's unlike anything I've smelled before and curious to see your take on it. Cheers!
Interesting scent for sure and a better BR540. On a seperate note, loving Guapo and Haze Blue/Black! Will be grabbing full bottles asap as some of the best perfumes i've ever smelt, well done Aaron!
The vegan company, Pacifica has a hair body mist, Dream Moon that also smells like this. Also Sol De Janeiro has, Beija Flor it smells the same but must be layered with their body butter for longevity.
Hey Aaron Thank you for this review, this sounds good for the days were I just want to fun up the day. Eventhough 95 % of my collection are tagged as mens fragrances. Hope you will review gisada ambassador for men. Here's hoping 😉
I enjoy your reviews, but honestly--your voice just soothes my ragged nerves. Thank you 💜 I'm 52, but I LOVE Cloud. It also plays well with others, so it's easy to layer with other fragrances.
Love your videos and your fragrances Aaron, not sure if you take requests lol, but having just acquired some I'd love to see your review of Amouage's Reflection 45. It seems like a very complex concoction to me, and think it would be a great frag to see you break down.
A couple of ladies I know have this and every body loves it. The problem those ladies seem to have is they know how popular it is because other women they know also wear it, so they intern are hesitant to wear it and are constantly looking for an alternative signature scent.
A 540 slayer and people are saying it’s not the quality it once was then I heard the rumours on AG cloud and great to see you’ve reviewed it. I guess this is my next purchase. Btw, I’m still addicted to Raw Cherry and it never fails to get compliments.
Great review, I bought my daughter this for Xmas after we tried BR540 samples... thought this would be a cheaper alternative for a 10 year old!!! She loves it and it smells amazing on her, longevity and projection are both excellent, it's such a great scent for an amazing price.
I quit caring about gendering of scents years ago. My current signature scent is Burberry Her Intense and I’ve gotten insane compliments from it. It’s another stellar one by Francis Kirkdjian. Have you smelled it yet?
Ariana Grande is coming out with a powerful woman Perfume with Tree Moss Absolute, Sandalwood and Amber's with some Flowers and Organic Bergamot 😃 My sister can't wait to buy it. She Loves Perfume with Tree Moss in it 😍
As with Ardent, I am expecting no stock for the next few weeks on Ariana's Cloud after this review :)) My daughter loves it. I think is very very good AND, above everything, I think this should be the honest price for Baccarat R . lol...
Excellent review, and same for me, I couldn't smell Baccarat Rouge on myself at all, waste of money -- Cloud however! Gorgeous, divine, heavenly, and at 1/4 of the price of Baccarat,, and I love Cloud more! 😊
I like the scent but I prefer to wear tiziana terenzi spirito fiorentino, you get that baccarat rouge dna with a leather note comes off a bit more masculine.
Yes! I'm an older, mostly niche wearer, but I prefer Cloud to BR540. To me BR540 vacillates between the dentist office smell and/or I can't smell it. I can't smell what others say is "sugary" and "sweet" at all in BR540. I do smell the sweetness in Cloud, and Cloud is much better for me, though I find it does not have much longevity and can't stand up to cold weather.
As a male whom works in an environment where I smell both somewhat regularly… I feel like Cloud smells like a very cheap imitation of BR540. Cloud is more harsh on the nose and less minty feeling which is what makes BR540 so great. BR540 always gets a positive reaction from me subconsciously, Cloud is more loud and cloying.
@@rolandjones9250 plenty people say this. Plenty people can't even smell 540 at all lol. I have a friend with a huge niche collection and he has a good nose, but he can not smell 540 on himself, but he wears it for his lady friends and co workers. For me 540 smells like cotton candy, pine, clean hotel carpet and ambergris.
Could u do a comparison of creed silver mountain water and armaf club de nuit sillage i love the way u break down notes and chemicals would love to get ur take on it
Came off as very feminine compared to my BR 540. The dry down I honestly couldn’t tell the difference and it gave me a headache just like BR 540. Honestly it’s worth the $30.
Interesting! I somehow also cannot smell Baccarat Rouge, haven’t tried the extrait de parfum, I might. This one also does not develop well on my skin, I can barely smell it, and it smell like a plastic doll. I am not sure why
It would be cool if you could do a few more inspiration/dupes, so that we can learn why is one more expensive than the other. For example i heard that Dior- Oud Ispahan has 2 very good inspirations or clones Swiss Arabian- Shaghaf Oud and Arabian Oud - Resala, everyone is saying that these are better than the original and this isnt the only example that I have..
So it happens that I have all of the above that you mentioned and all I can say is that they have similarities indeed but they are in the end different. Shagaf Oud is cheap and it smells cheap…the other 2 are masterpieces…
You need to check out Pineward Perfumes if you really want stellar green perfumery. An all natural indie house with extraits that can last 24hrs+ on skin. If you're intrigued by Slumberhouse but can't afford the secondary prices, Pineward is very much in the same wheelhouse, with its own unique DNA and artistry. And he has samples of everything available.
I am glad to hear Baccarat Rouge does not work on you. Does not project from my skin and for some odd reason, it is not sweet either. Just smells like pine on me. I thought I was the only one.
BR540 edp is the same for me. The Extrait, however, works brilliantly - and the scent of the extrait is definitely slightly different, too, and in a positive way.
So, Aaron since you know so much about the chemical’s used in fragrance I have a question for you from a novice fragrance collector with zero knowledge of the chemicals used. But, there’s a chemical some houses use that I can smell that cannot. I’m positive they can’t because most people are smelling heaven and I’m squarely in hell. I don’t know how to describe the smell except that it’s horrible. It reminds me a little of Raid which is an awful chemical used in the States to kill roaches, etc… Erba Pura and quite a few fragrances from Xerjoff has it, Tizinia Terrenzi uses quite a lot of it, Mancera (Instant Crush specifically), and I’ve found it to be quite prominent in tons of Arabian fragrances. Can you tell me what that might be? Or do a video on why some people smell these things differently than others or talk about how what commonly used chemicals smell like in fragrances?
I dont get ANY br540 from this, like at all. It smells like some milky sweet toffee fragrance and i cant stand it at all. Also it smells COMPLETELY feminine to me. Br540 edp is feminine to me aswell but the extrait version is totally unisex to me and i love wearing it.
Ok this does NOT smell like BR540. It has a similar DNA in the way citrus scents share DNA. This smells like whip cream, nutty, cotton candy, burnt milk. Definitely not unisex. If BR is Parisian this is its cousin from Southern California.
Hi Aaron, why always the NASA shirts lately, are you planning on taking your company to the moon? 🤣 How have you been lately mate? Greetings from Canada! ⛈
I recently saw your review on Baccarat Rouge Extrait. I wanted to buy a bottle but it was out of stock where I live. So instead I bought the EDP and got it a few days ago. I have to admit that I wasn't too overwhelmed by it as it smelled familiar to Cloud. In fact, I sprayed both on me and there was a subtle difference. Does the Extrait smell different? I'm having second thoughts on whether I should get it.
Its funny because when you first reviewed BR540 you said you didnt like it and it smelled like a little girl, yet Cloud smells even more like a little girls version of BR540, so im surprised you like it
