Reviewing the Le Parfum version of Yves Saint Laurent's Y fragrance. www.aaronterencehughes.co.uk Instagram - AaronTerenceHughes #AaronTerenceHughes #PerfumerReviews #YSL Music: Sleepdebt - I C U
hi aaron, thank you very much for your in-depth analysis! recently received my first raw materials and i would love to do some hobby-perfumery, your videos really are invaluable, keep rocking it!
I’ve smelt all of the blue fragrances that are considered ‘king of designers’ and I easily can say ysl is on the top of the game. They’re definitely not for me as they do not work on my skin except sauvage of course but except the whole syntetic stuff, ysl’s complicated, full, smoothed out perfumery is just brilliant. When I first get into the whole fragrance thing believe me or not my first scent was sospiro deep ocean amber so I assumed every top seller thing will going to smell highly concentrated and projecting loud and will be grappling to your nose thorough the wearimg of the scent. Huge disappointment for me, everything smells not the same but close, except ysl
Daddy is where it’s at Aaron 🔥🔥🔥 the apple is so good then to the chocolaty buttery oud with a bit of the powdery tonka bean. It has quickly become a top 5 fragrance for me. Absolutely love your work. Y le parfum is what I where to work lol
@202STFU I also love Eau Givree as well as H24/ Herbes vibes from Hermes. Some of my fav Le Labo are Another 13, Noir 29, Vetiver 46 along with the obvious Santal 33.
@@ukguy That’s awesome 😄. I have a question about Another 13.. does it smell like cotton candy or anything like MFK baccarat rouge 540? I had Thomas Kosmala no10 that is said to be a similar scent and that was really headache inducing for me. How would you describe it?
@202STFU I could see it smelling like cotton candy to some people, to my nose it's a bit fruitier and cleaner smelling, with a strange addicting quality. It's easy to go noseblind to so you think it's gone, then you get another huge waft. It's almost like one those molecule type scents. Definitely not a safe blind buy, some people say it smells like paper or magazines lol, but I have had many compliments so seems quite popular. Nothing like BR 540 at all at least to my nose.
@@ukguy Its really hard to describe Another 13, it just sucks you in. It's a seductive fragrance yet still so fresh and versatile. And that thing about it randomly projecting is so true lol'!!! love it
As synthetic as it is, it's synthetic in a good way and definitely doesn't smell cheap at all imo. The opening comes off strong but not as strong as the edp. The dry down is heavenly and definitely leaves an intoxicating scent trail👌
@@adhyantorokusumo7451 Depends on skin chemistry but I can still smell it on myself 8+ hours later. It isn't as loud as edp and sits closer to the skin but it still pushes off the skin and the silliage (scent trail) is still impressive. Test it for yourself before buying but if you like edp then you'll like this too
The review I’ve been waiting for! This one’s a compliment beast. I understand the criticisms on it not being the most sophisticated, I personally love it though, along with the EDP intense
I love this scent. It's good combination of fresh but not too sweet and a good beginner, no brainer office scent. Wouldn't go any "lower" than the Parfum as it gets too sweet and off smelling to my nose. Took a little time getting used to the cedar but it rounds it out.
I’d love to hear your take on Avestan. Arguably the most niche frag in the world. It’s only available from their store in London (73 Beak Street) it’s an unfinished perfume. Unfortunately the creator of the perfume died before he could finish it, but despite that it has taken off. The crazy thing is, the store only sells one item - the perfume. I have two bottles of it (purchased yesterday) and it’s very different to anything I’ve ever experienced before. And it’s cheap. £38 for 50ml.
Edp and le parfum perform the same as each other on my skin, the le parfum projects for longer though and the edp becomes a skin scent after about 3-4 hours
Could you comment on LV Nouveau Monde? It's got this opening that I've never smelt before. It's my favorite cologne but I can't find anything similar to that opening.
Yeah the problem is even when you get something good smelling over the £100 like a creed which is over £200 they reformulate it and it barely performs anymore, this y line is pretty good really, I think the only thing bad I'd say is you might as well just own one of them, you ain't really getting nothing new in every flanker it's kinda a variation of the same thing with slight tweeks edp parfum elixir may as well just buy 1 of them in my opinion
After hearing your thoughts on this, I think I’m gonna rewatch the L’Elixir review. The whole line just isn’t my style; pleasant but honestly a bit boring.
When you start to get into more niche fragrances you understand exactly what he means by 'artificial smelling'. All these lower priced designers have a certain chemical smell to them.
I tried the le parfum, but i have the edp and intense and either one of those is a better purchase. IMHO The elixir is awesome and my favorite of the line. Its just deeper and richer. Great review as always. Elixir Edp Intense Edt Le parfum
Am ngl I have about 25-30 sprays in my armoury. But I truly believe this is honestly the best one I have. It's a compliment powerhouse. Your gf / wife is gonna melt at yours knees & out on the town it's makes u the star of the show.
Why have a Y on the bottle if it's E? Seems confusing unless it's marketed in Spanish speaking countries predominantly. Oh ok I see, the brand name, duh. This why I watch.
I adore the Y line but the longevity is a no! My Y Eau de Parfum is almost gone and I really want to buy it again but in half an hour I can hardly smell a thing. I've read this one is also short-lasting. :(

We have to stop listening to these fragrance influencers and stop believing the hype. I bought this fragrance because of the hype and reviews but aaron is right its a little too overly sweet and synthetic. Yesterday i went to bath & body works and tried this fragrance called NOIR and it smells IDENTICAL to Y le parfum. And its only for a fraction of what le parfum would cost you. Like $40.
I have a clone of it (yeah! Parfum by Maison Alhambra), it smells pretty much exactly like the original. I compared it with the OG since a colleague of mine has it and they're pretty much identical in the air. The Manceras are also pretty easy to clone, so I recommend going with the clones.
Yup your right, just went to bath & body works yesterday and they have a fragrance called NOIR, it smells IDENTICAL to YSL Y le parfum, I was disappointed how identical it smelled, so your right it is easily cloned. I paid $150 for my bottle while NOIR is only around $40. And I think NOIR actually might be better! A little smoother and less cloying then Y le parfum.
I can't smell this. To me is nauseating crap, I am writing this before watching the video. The ambergris smells Paco Rabanne cheap, Invictus cheap... terrible.
@@flaviog.7192 nope, not at all, I just can't stand the ambergris smell. I don't have enough money to be a snob :)))))) I LOVE the clean ambroxan, HATE the ambergris
These YSL fragrances are so mid that I cringe heavily when I smell them on people. It’s common douchebaggery and reminds me of sweaty bummed steroid pre workout males.
