I own the exact watch you did your review on ! To my way of thinking this watch is a very unique timepiece . It has a simple dial that is very elegant . I do not think the Casio Oceanus gets the love it deserves . Great job , great video !
I think this is one of the most beautiful watches in the world. There's not enough white in the watch-world, and I love a clean dial. I want, I want, I want!
I have the OCW 100 Titanium and the T200. Both outstanding watches and great value for the money. Changed the capacitor in the 100 after 10 years , easy job and the watch is as good as new.
Just picked up this exact model 2 weeks ago and I am very impressed with it for the amount paid. I have had this watch on my radar for the last 2 years and would highly rec it to anyone on the fence, pull the trigger.
I agree. I own the (discontinued) T200SLE-2AJR (medium blue), and it's my GADA watch. Set & forget, just awesome, and it's also very versatile. Another underestimated JDM pearl.
Got mine for $315 new from a JDM seller. Absolutely fantastic watch for the money. Most accurate quartz watch I’ve ever had. Clasp is fine in opinion. Bracelet is excellently finished and the case has incredible polishing. Solar powered to top it all off…this thing is insanely nice.
Yeah it is a decent piece, although I don't gush over it with quite as strong wording as yourself ...I did sell it with fond memories. I have no issues recommending it and most important is that you're happy with it 👍
@@nextonthewrist “Decent piece?” We are definitely 180 degrees apart on this. I’m curious to know what watch that offers what the Oceanus does in terms of quality, refinement, accuracy, solar powered, etc. that surpasses it in your opinion. I’ve yet to find anything.
I think 180 degrees apart is very silly, it's a very very positive review video and titled as perhaps the best everyday Casio watch. My review is detailed with video demonstrations clearly showing what I like and what I don't like, if those things don't bother you or you disagree that's cool... If we all felt the same we'd all have identical watch collections. So I'm not going to argue these points more as it ends up being a pointless back and forth. My biggest disappointment is that the polishing is especially poor under high intensity light and macro compared to any other watch in my box at a similar price, but they aren't solar quartz with bluetooth functionality so it's up to you - the viewer how important each feature and design element is, that's why with the information you should always make up your own mind. I'd like to try some of the Attesa range at some point and for a comparatively priced alternative, but it is my policy to only give feedback on watches I've handled, so that is for another day. Enjoy your evening 😉
Yeah, I’m an owner from a Casio Oceanus watch. With radio controlled and with solar powered Cause water resistance to 100 meters. Almost for twenty years and still works.
New to the channel and just subscribed. You're doing good stuff here. I wanted to just chime in and say that both Seiko and citizen advertise quartz watches as perpetual calendars when they have the features described in the video. Being courts doesn't mean it's not a perpetual calendar! I think cassio rightly calls the feature of perpetual calendar in both quartz and even in digital quartz models. So yes feel free to call it a perpetual calendar because it is. 😁
On this reference can remove and change out the strap for a nice leather no problem, but you do need to be careful as some watches in the Oceanus range are integrated. 🙂👍
I have both OCW-S100 (Titanium) and OCW-T200 (Stainless steel). Unlike other more advanced Oceanus series with lots of features and complications, these two are simple, practical, and elegant. Among these two, I like OCW-S100 more for slimmer size, lighter, and could embrace my wrist better.
I have this exact watch. It's not perfect, as you've pointed out, but it's still an awesome watch to own. Almost all my watches are mechanical. This one is great if you're running out the door and don't have time to set your automatic. It goes with whatever you're wearing in my opinion.
Glad you included the case measurement not just the bezel diameter 👍Edit: and the male end links too! I have a watch which is too big on the wrist with male end links but fits (just) with a strap.
Yeah absolutely, more than ever lug to lug and the effective lug to lug with male end links is so vital now to gauge a fit - especially with things like this as you can't go to a local store and try one 👍
actually i’m hunting for a ice blue colorway, which is rare to find on you tube, but this one with the white\silver dial is also a nice piece i’d like to know, if you have any issues with the watch in extreme cold temperatures…which i’ve heard will cause problems for quartz watches. or is it an issue on watches with LCD displays like g shocks? thank you for this great vdo
So I didn't have any issues up to around -10'c for a decent period of time...although I never took it out for any prolonged period of time in the worst of winter here (-35'c) as it just feels bad for me and the watch 😆...accuracy likely suffers a bit as it isn't thermally compensated, but as I sync mine via Bluetooth I would not have seen that. No LCD here to suffer so that's good. Hopefully that helps? 🙂👍
Good balanced and fair review mate, subscribed. I think the S100 kills the T200 in terms of finishing. I have both and a P2000 diver. The P2000 is where the Dallas polishing really comes to observation 👍
Thank you, really appreciated chief 🍻...very interesting the S100 is finished better, I hope to try one at some point. But forget both of those though, that P2000 looks immense!... First time I've ever heard of it and a quick Google it's definitely peaked my interest 🙌
@@nextonthewrist the T200 is the basic entry level Oceanus. The S100 although doesn’t have Bluetooth is a better movement. All the hands are independently controlled. Finishing is better and it’s titanium. The higher level Oceanus models really are equivalent of the thousand dollar MR-G models. Vote4blake has an excellent review of the P2000 and compares it to a couple of Grand seikos he has 👍
Pressed caseback isnt a negative in any way whatsoever,a screw down caseback kr crown isnt more water resistant or secure. The cryatal is pressdown, its genuinely not an issue
I don't claim the caseback to be a waterproofing issue - my issue is it feels cheap and flimsy to the touch on this watch, and I stand by that and for me that is a negative...I have some assembly videos on the channel so I'm comfortable with how these things go together 🙂👍
@@nextonthewristsee I see it the opposite way,I see it as Casio showing off and saying they don't need a screw down case back This is Casio showing they're so confident in their build quality that press down is all they need.
I've got the blue version which I like better except for the hands. I think they are the same except yours have an outline which gives them some personality.
want to buy one, but really torn between dark blue & silver. What i really like in silver is the absense of that white tip on second hand that other color have. gravitating towards that, but blue looks really great
I just picked up a Tissot Couturier with an ETA Quartz movement, really like the style, quality, battery life, and polishing finishing of the watch. Plan on adding a Oceanus S100 to the collection next. Can’t afford a Grand Seiko yet, so between the Tissot Couturier and Casio Oceanus I’m pretty happy.
Nice! Eta make some really nice quartz movements, I've always found them to be similarly good seconds hand movement and rock solid reliability. Good choices 🙂🍻
Those raised indices look cheap too… I have similar on Casio Lineage except that mine are actually “floating” rather than propped up. Thanks for the video, this answered a lot of questions I had for this model. One thing I don’t like about the Bluetooth connectivity is that Casio makes you setup a Casio ID. Why? Why should anyone have to make a record of themselves, including their birth date, which they store somewhere in the world, waiting to get hacked, for a device that should just work out of the box, no questions asked. So it seems like a data scoop to me. I don’t think well of Casio. They’re an electronics company, not a watchmaker, and the things they produce that function as watches are microprocessors.
You can't easily see the base of the indices at normal distances with regular eyes to be fair, so I think it's exaggerated on camera - the macro lens on a camera reveals the construction secret in full screen glory 😅 but I see your point 🙂👍 It's a good question on the Casio app too, as much as I want Casio to have the best intentions for data usage, it's hard to trust any large corporation in 2024. If you get the atomic radio signals, this is the solution for sure to avoid the app. Thanks for stopping by and appreciate the comments 🍻
These are brilliant watches and it is really annoying that, like the best Japanese models, they are JDM-only. I fail to see how this benefits the brands sales figures.
Exactly! I wish the Oceanus range was available locally, I'd love to actually get hands on with some of the more expensive models and try them before buying.
The Japanese brands do have some unique JDM models, sometimes comes with some quirky features and generally not cheap for those with high specifications. I am a happy owner of a 20+ years old (?) Casio Overland model OVW-100TBJ. It’s analog with about 39mm diameter, titanium, solar powered with 2 bright LED lights at 12 and 6 o’clock positions that can be activated through a button or by tilting it towards you in dark area (like the normal Casio digital watch), perpetual calendar, 100m water resistance, date display, relative strong lume lasting for hours - rare for Casio watch. There magnifier on the date window but bubble is inside the mineral glass, no protruding bump on the glass. This should be the standard. The quirks: All the time settings - alarm, date/year are done via the two push buttons at positions 2 & 4 o’clock. It has wave ceptor to set the time/day/year but only can receive Japan radio signals. Cost? I paid only USD40. I am lucky.
Bargain 🙌 I like the integrated magnifiers I've had it on a ball watch and also on my bulova oceanographer GMT - agreed a great standard for magnification. Thanks for the comments and keep enjoying that overland 🙂🍻
That is rather the point. It tells the time, never needs setting, and is always accurate. Sapphire glass and 100m water resistance ensures it will handle almost anything you can throw at it. So the perfect tool to tell you the time and date. Boring only because it is close to being absolutely perfect.
