Wow everything sounds so clear and clean, absolutly perfect, thanks a lot Alex. I'd kill to hear Ragnarok this way, Spencer was great already but he improved so much since the P2 era.
Most male voices don't fully mature until around 36 years old, he was 36 when they released p4, he's around 40 now. I notice no difference in his vocal tonality between p4 and p5. The whole evolution of him both improving his vocal abilities and his voice maturing over the course of their previous albums is pretty cool.
when they played in oklahoma he picked up that megaphone and tried singing that part and it didn’t turn on, he looked over to misha very confused was like wtfff?? which is weird bc from the looks of it it was a battery powered megaphone so it was weird and kinda awkward that it somehow didn’t turn on. then at the start stop rhythm section, the power in the whole venue cut out and all you could hear was matt’s cymbal-riding syncopated drumming (😩) in pitch black darkness for the rest of the song. it was a life altering experience for me ngl. it’s funny because when it happened misha and spencer were noticeably kind of ticked and a little embarrassed, misha looked at ME (only for a second ofc 😭😭) and was like “so sorry guys, so sorry” but i am proud to say we all definitely cheered for periphery the hardest, especially when that happened. they are just so damn awesome. they did manage to get the power back on just in time for marigold tho lol.
That opening riff hits. I'm trying to figure out what pickups to put in my guitar to try and get that tone, I know they use the peavey invective but for pickups not sure if I should go bareknuckle ragnarok or marks new set.
Idk if they were the ones to come up with the megaphone thing, but it's genius. Perfect for adding post fx to a live performance. They could have even recorded that way, idk. Still, I think that's amazing.
Was sitting with colleagues having a pint on a friday night after a really long week of work, when this song came into my head while staring into my beer. Paid in full, down it all, down it aaaall, Inside, your souuul 😂 🍻
Tremendous sound and performance! Am I the only one slightly disappointed that one of the guys doesn't actually rip the sweep picking solo?!? Not discounting or discrediting them, would just make the performance that much more special.
This album is great, i mean my favorite so far, except, a couple of songs, Marks compositions, are not in my taste area, too happy, too "butterflies" like
He’s not perfect, but that’s what makes me love this performance so much; it’s proof he’s human and he’s authentic! I saw them live earlier this year, and was blown away. A studio recording is the “ideal” performance with the singer’s best takes while not moving around. Moving around onstage and the adrenaline of performing can fuck with breath control and fine motor control of the vocal cords. If a singer sounds exactly like a recording when they are “performing live,” you should be asking the question of whether they’re actually singing 😬
Never heard them before. Very good overall, but they could do without the clean stuff. The part at 2:00.... yikes. I'll chalk it up to acquired taste. Man thinks he's a backstreet boy.
