That would be the ultimate prize as a periphery fan. That's their magnum opus so hearing Nollies mix and Spencers massively improved voice would be so epic. Though tbh I think Racecar is one of the songs that hold up best vocals wise
Never say never, but I highly doubt it. Either way, time spent doing that would take away from writing and recording new material. Maybe Spencer will continue to rerecord p1 tracks
@@iamrichlol Nope. He said in an interview that he chose a couple of P1 songs which he is warming up occasionally but neither does he or the band have any interest do "redo" P1 however. When I heard All New Materials with his rerecorded vocals I shed a tear because of how beautiful it was. And when I heard that will be doing JWY in a course with Chris Liepe I would freak out because that is one of my favourite songs by them. And hearing this is like: I can die happily right now. This is beyond amazing!
Straight up. I heard this song a couple years after it came out, and frankly it didn't do much for me. But here we are, like 10 years later, and I cannot stop listening lol.
You can definately hear Spencer has a much stronger and controlled voice in this, it just doesnt capture the feeling the same. Which is fine because it wasnt done for the reason of re doing the track.
this alone got better, it gives a rest to the voice, these songs demand a lot, he extends the notes very high and sustaining them without vibrato, this is quite tiring when he sings live
Dude I swear… periphery is the band that just keeps on giving!!! They give amazing studio updates and have for years (enchilada), misha is all over RU-vid (Rick beato, car clubs, random bullshit lol), mark plays sexy ass acoustic stuff and other playthroughs, Nolly jams with fucking Plini and friends, Matt plays competitions like SXSW back to even a decade ago, now Spencer’s freaking re-recording this early amazing stuff… give me a break man (really don’t) idk how these guys are so awesome. Not to mention their countless bangers of albums and their 16-minute masterpieces. Fuck I love periphery edit. I fucking forgot to mention Jake - please forgive me senpai
@@ZulfadhliARahman can’t believe I didn’t mention mr Bowen. All you gotta say is…. that beard tho. Also have you noticed how fucking brutal his screams have gotten over the years? See reptile. He has hilarious comedic timing the the updates “these strings improve my life in all the quality ways you would expect” lmao. So sorry for forgetting Jake. He was there before mark I believe! What an instrumental piece of the band lol
what do you mean competitions??? Can I find that anywhere? Matt is why I got into the band and I'm a huge fan. He inspired me to start playing drums again.
Jesus you people are insufferable. It's not produced and mixed like it would be on the final product, he just did a quick re-record for demonstration purposes with chris liepe for their vocal course. and it's bare bones because of that. "I don't like this at all" then you don't like Spencer. This is an incredible performance
I'm not going to lie... I think this is better than the original for sure, but I think v2 is WAYYYY WAY way better than this one. Literally every single part of v2 flows more fluidly than this one, and the effect layers on the vocals are also way better and more consistent on v2. This version sounds like Spencer is just sort of trying to include all the little and not so little vocal tricks and sounds that he uses in their modern songs, and it just feels like it janks up the flow. If I were to compare all three versions to, say, a woodworking project, I'd say the original is well done but with with a roughly done finishing, the v2 is nearly perfectly done with a great sanding of the rough spots and polishing, and this version is like they took that almost perfectly done project and threw a layer of tiedye paint on it along with gold engraving. It just has way too many disparate 'embellishments' which draw too much attention to themselves and detract from the experience of the song as a whole.
@@krispayy6076 idk what u mean, the instrumental is from the original but it isn't available online, only the version with vocals are online. I'm asking where did he get the track without the vocals
Just less processing it sounds like. Im 99% sure these are gonna be the vocal stems for the remake and will sound way better. Some parts will probably be redone/edited as well.
Vocals do so much for me. And on the original 1 record with Spencer i just dont like it. His voice is genuially bad om that. But here its much better! Tbh it might sound harsh but it such a big chance with p2 (or even p3 ) in terms of vocals its like if they got a new singer.
Does this sound a little.. off.. to anyone else? Not bad at all, this definitely sounds like Spencer, just something about it doesn't sound quite like he does on a Periphery record. Idk. At first I thought this was someone who just happens to sound a lot like Spencer covering the song.
Probably the mixing. I'm pretty sure this is just the vocal stems slapped on top of the song, which means it wasn't really mixed at all. The vocals just kind of sit over the song. I'm sure if someone who knew what they were doing tried to mix it, it would sound pretty good, though I still think this is fine.
Cause it's raw vocals, without studio reverb(which really adds to song's depth), and, probably, some other effects. But I've heard, this is from Spencer's vocals learning course, so it is purely for demonstration purposes. And for those, this sounds actually really good
@@cyntdestroyer69xd you’re close. It’s definitely not raw. There’s definitely some major compression and EQing going on, and some auto tune and reverb. It’s just not mixed and mastered professionally, how he would do it on an album. This is like a home setup or minimalist set up recording and mix.
Honestly, I prefer v2.0, just like I prefer the original of all new materials. Something about his voice just feels way too perfect and rigid to capture the emotion felt in the originals.
Well, I don't think this is perfect as in what Spencer would do if they would record a new album. Listen to that long scream at 3:30 - you can hear how at the very beginning he is pushing it out too far and kinda does like a glissando or portamento. It is what makes this recording authentic. He wouldn't leave that on a final Periphery record. Spencer just got soooo much better in the last 10 years that he sings these songs with ease and maybe that is why you think of it as "too perfect"...
It's so sad how a lot of people think that better technique and control means less emotion, these rerecordings are god tier and Spencer surely delivers a lot of emotion
Yeah his vocal style changed a lot over the years, it's kind of gotten whiny, not like in a bad way, but the type of voice tone that pop singers have a lot. Works great with their new stuff but sounds weird on their older proggier things
You're aren't digging it because you think it sounds too poppy but it's just him learning the correct way of singing. Honeslty you wouldn't be saying shit I p1 never came out and this was released on its own but you know. Everyone's weird so I have respect
@@lazarushatchette3978 I don’t understand what people’s big yank with Poppy vocals is, they’re heavenly. (Some) Pop singers have some of the best voices- in my opinion- in the industry
@@xXxThelegend27xXx exactly, and too many people dont like it for some reason. It's literally singing but when someone doesn't have the best technique for singing, it's somehow better
@@J.PC.Designs Someone having there own style? Wtf are you even talking about? I mean people somehow really like the the sound of not good technique or overprojection hence Corey Taylor's old sound or early Spencer. That doesn't mean it's there own style and even if it is. Then people can change ther style over time. Let's stop pretending having good technqiue means a bad singer
The way he doesn’t hold the notes like he used to and ends notes too quickly doesn’t sound that great, I do like the overall quality though. I wish that he held the notes, that’s my one complaint really, this isn’t super true to the Originals sound
