Big same. I feel like even if all of their stuff is really good, they peaked with this album and this song especially, and they've never put out stuff to this level since (again, without discrediting how good the other stuff they've done is as well).
im gonna start doing some covers soon and i would like to know: do you use just the regular song as a backing track? or a version with removed guitars? or you did it all from the ground up, programming drums and bass?
Well.. I have used EMGs quite long time ago. Since then it’s been a long time not using active pickups. High gain rhythms are very tight on voice 2, but just kinda too much on voice 1. But voice 1 has quite a punch in cleans and leads. Also thump tones. So you have to choose between those by situation and these bothered me quite a bit. And split tones are.. just not quite there… Idk it feels unnatural for me. But if you are looking for ice cold cleans, this is it. If you want headless, i think strandbergs are iconic enough to buy. Without considering all that stuff to choose.
Keep in mind the active vs passive Fismans. I have four 8 string Strandbergs (each with a different pickup) and I really dig them. To my ears they just have a very digital/modern and almost 3 dimensional sound to them. I think they're wonderful. I bought my first Metal 8 and just had to own more (I have 10 total now). Four 6 strings, four 8 strings, one 4 string and one 5 string bass.
@@p.h_il Ok, sick. Thank you, that answers all of my concerns perfectly. I recently tried the diamond pickups that come in the newer Schecter Demon 7 and was pretty pleased with the midrange clarity and bite from really bearing down on the low end around drop G#. "Articulately gnarly" is most succinct way I can describe it, after a little dialing in Abasi and throwing a bit more fabfilter flair on it. Combine guitars put out a new multiscale 8 string headless kit for $360 USD. I'm gonna have to throw either Lundgrens, SD Noumenons, or Nazguls in it and call it a day. Apparently the overall fit and finish once assembled and given a little TLC is fantastic. Will report back before too long if I make the plunge
